None of my DnD friends care for Destiny in the slightest, so I don't see how I will get the chance to try this. Jokes on them though, I am working on a homebrew world that is lifting a lot of plots and factions from Destiny, most of it centered around the Ahamkara, because I think Wish-Dragons are just such a cool concept.
The idea of faustian bargains and weaponizing desires is just a banger idea that isn't explored enough. A lot of media touches on it, but doesn't really explore it.
My world is basically a pocket universe the ahamkara made for themselves, so I'm trying to figure out how those faustian bargains would affect the world building.
Heck yeah! DnDestiny is the greatest, man! The amount of homebrew stuff i've made for it likely rivals my homebrew for Core 5e. The Velvet Fang Team really outdid themselves. Amazing Video!
Having only played in the Westmarches server for 4 months at this point, it is a blast. It is the greatest D&D campaign I've ever played in so far, there are so many helpful people, and everything does just click after a session or two. It is wonderful and I would suggest anyone wanting to try the system to try the server's campaign as well.
Me and my buddies first played this when it was just 0.4 of the first edition and we watched it change and grow as we were playing our first campaign. Then about 4 months ago we finished our second campaign which lasted for 2 years truly worthwhile! Soon we’ll be playing our third campaign once 2nd edition comes out.
Dudeeee!!! youtube recommend this video and i'm so glad!! this is awesome!! and is awesome that now i know it exists!!. I always thought that the rich lore of destiny could do for a very cool exploration of the universe in a d&d session. Thank you a lot!! for show this ^^
I spent 2.5 years developing my own homebrew system to play a Destiny campaign with my friends (the system was flawed, but at least we had fun). But damn! I've never heard of this conversion, and I wish I had. I'll definitely support it going forward
I'm currently dming a game that takes place during Destiny's dark age! My players are fighting alongside the early iron lords against Fallen, some hive, and the destructive warlords of the time! I'm having an interesting time with one player being an Eliksni titan who can make 4 melee attacks each turn due to him having 4 arms! 😂
Dude this is awesome! I fell off of Destiny after Taken King but always loved the vibes of the setting, characters, music, etc. This sounds like something I would enjoy so much!
I ran this for a few buddies of mine they loved I might have to start another campaign. Something I always did for my new players is I'd give them a private sessions for their new light guardian because I like to give each player a small adventure before the party forms.
I’ve been DMing for the system for a few months now and it’s really fun to play, not as fun to prep for. If I had to go back in time and give myself some advice for running the “hack,” this is what I would say: 1. The game does not play like DnD 5e. DND 5e’s difficulty and suspense is based around the attrition of resources throughout the adventuring day. Because the party can take a brief rest and recover all meaningful resources in 5 minutes of in game time, in DnDestiny you need to be really good at providing engaging set pieces. 2. DnDestiny essentially removes the threat of death, so as a DM, each combat needs to be engaging in other ways. There needs to be a failure state in pretty much each combat encounter that isn’t a TPK, otherwise it QUICKLY becomes a slog. 3. If the players provide a backstory that makes them “fresh out of the grave,” It becomes difficult to provide engaging custom content for them because there really is no backstory. 4. Don’t run a campaign that is super lore-friendly. My campaign was set 50 years after the Collapse and it was difficult to get the players to follow the lore of the time. They wanted to meet the NPCs they had fallen in love with in the game, and they couldn’t because most of them were not Risen yet. 5. Don’t make rulings based on what happens in Destiny, make rulings based on the rules of DnDestiny. Ex: a player cannot be concentrating on a grenade and still have a Ward of Dawn up. Take concentration very seriously because DnDestiny uses it to balance some extremely powerful effects. That being said, playing the game FEELS like playing Destiny. That’s a pretty monumental task so good for them.
I've been wanting to run this for my group, but sadly they aren't too enthusiastic to give it a try. could be due to my many Destiny rants lol, I love the game, but man do I wish it was as good as it could have been.
Many of our players (we have over 4,000!) say they prefer D&Destiny over D&D. We use the D&D framework, but playing as Guardian is very different from playing as a normal 5e adventurer. Plus, we have raid bosses you can fight! Stop by the server and give it a try yourself sometime :)
Thanks for the spotlight! Let us know if you ever want to dip your toes into the upcoming 2nd Edition :D

That would be so cool! Maybe someone has adapted the raids - I'm not sure. 🤔
I have seen that Crotas end and kings fall have been recreated in dndestiny.
I plan on making a dnd pathfinder campaign so it's going to be fun

I would be hella interested in seeing how one sets this all up on roll 20. Biggest blocker for me and trying to run a campaign for my friends x.x
It's pretty easy. The devs even have material (pre built monsters and stuff) you can download and add to roll20 in a few minutes.

great video i just found this TTRPG from BYF's newest video. which lead me here thx to the algorithm.
I just saw his video! I'm glad more people are learning about this awesome system.😃
Remember that time, a guy made Lumen, his version of a destiny rpg and the community tore him a new one.
I need a group for this 😂 I'm in the discord but haven't found a group or game that works for me
I’ve wanted to play Destiny as a TTRPG since like 2016 😭 I’m glad I procrastinated building it because somebody else did it first lmao

I love just going through these books. I spent a few days just reading and shit. Looked awesome.
If someday make friends maybe I'll play.

Considering Destiny isn’t doing too well these days I’ll definitely check this out! Just need friends…😂
I'd definitely recommend joining the Velvet Fang discord to join the Westmarch!

Do I need the DND 5th edition rule books to play, or can I just use the D& Destiny rules?
(If i need the dnd 5th ed ones, which books will i need?)
From my understanding, you should just need the D&Destiny rulebooks to run it!
I’m just sad I’ll never be able to find people to run it with.
You could always try the Discord server! They love introducing new players
