Not a lot. Most correctional institutions are not fun to be in and have a shit ton of violence. Although the government used Tommy to send a message they also made sure he was sent into a correctional facility where he wouldn't get murdered or raped. He's a public figure and it would definitely be bad PR if he was sent to a dangerous prison.
One thing that I have to say about the Iching, it's vague and open to interpretation enough that it's quite easy to associate the texts with your personal situation. It's not an external entity communicating with you, it's a tool so that you can self reflect, it's psychology, not magic. I would still recommend it, it can really help.
I'd most definitely agree, it's a tool for self reflection. the only people to denounce it, and tools similar, are those with excessive pessimism & scepticism. you can't help yourself if you reject the possibility of finding some truth.
