It is not 7 million volt
That's most likely about 30kV. The insulation on that winding wire would breakdown before 100kV and will start to arc internally. And Electroboom also explained why it cannot be 7MV.

Stun guns aren't particularly effective. They're not a TASER. They don't incapacitate anyone. It just hurts. The person being stunned will just pull away from it quickly, and then they'll beat the crap out of the guy who stunned them.
You have to hold it into there gut taser only work for a couple of seconds
@@mrnolalife It's a different effect, even if you can maintain contact. Civilian TASER is actually more powerful than the police TASER. They cost around $800 or more. A stun gun costs about $10. You simply cannot incapacitate someone with a stun gun. It just hurts. That's all. The movies lie.

I highly doubt the 7,000,000 volt rating...
Technically (assuming 1mm per kV, which is quite common) this much voltage would have enough potential to create 7 meter (~23 ft. !!) long sparks, which is ridiculous.
You could find out the real voltage (which i guess is more in the 50kV to 80kV range) by insulating the electrodes from each other, attaching wires to them and then decreasing the distance between them until a spark jumps over. Measure the gap in mm, multiply the distance by 1000 and you get the real voltage in volts.
There is a video on RUclips (search for "kreosan megavolt") by some ukrainian (?) hobbyists who tried to build a 1MV cascade themselves and achieved some pretty impressing results.
It demonstrates quite nicely how much a million volts really are.

@@TruckerNaz The way those arcs happen is that you increase the positive charge in one of the prongs and negative charge in the other until the potential difference between them grows large enough that the air just gives way and becomes conductive, letting the charge dissipate by jumping across it. The voltage at which that happens depends practically only on the distance of the prongs themselves and at that kind of distances you can only go up to about 10-20 KV before it discharges. It can't possibly go up to 7 million V because it will discharge before that. Do mind also that when it comes into contact with something more conductive than air (like humans) it'll discharge at much lower voltage.
tl;dr saying that that thing can arc for 7 million volts is like saying that you can put 700 gallons of water in a 1 gallon jar. It just can't hold that much before it overflows.

It only wasn't that painful because when you're doing it to yourself, 1) you expect it 2) you're aware of it and 3) you didn't it for a split second. In a real life situation, if someone was using this for protection, they would apply it continuously to the perpetrator and that perp most likely won't be expecting it. It will definitely catch that person off guard and hurt a lot more with 2-3 seconds of contact.
