    UPDATE: I have had the supercharger now about 31/2 months. The only issue was a bad original 02 sensor. I changed that. I'm running about 17.8mpg daily driving around town and highway. this kit has been a really fun add on. The next project is a true cold air intake with a outside intake source unit before summer with a cryo cooling ring on the super charger.

      I have a 2004 WJ 4x4 3.73s with the 4.0L. I get 18 MPG and apparently that's high MPG for this engine. No one ever believes me, but I can probbaly squeeze 22 MPG. So if you're getting 17.8 that's great.
      You're not obligated to 93 octane but it's damn fuel efficient.
      😉👌
      Who did you get the stroker you mentioned that was going in later?

    Update:
    Had the kit now about 10.5 months. No mechanical issues except the bad 02 sensors that needed replaced anyway. I re-engineered my air intake. I added a direct intake from the out side through the hood. Changed the filter from open filter to a enclosed moisture shield type that has a front feed intake hose that pulls fresh air directly from the outside. This lowered my intake temp down to about 115° on 98° days so that's pretty good over all on hit sumer days in the morning when it's cooler it runs about 88° and has added alot more power as well. I love it need new fucking rear tires now. But so far so good.

    Hi Frank,
    Everything has been pretty smooth up to the last couple days I had a 02 sensor go out which I'm not surprised its an original one from when the Jeep was new gonna be fun getting this thing out. My gas mileage is around 11mpg the last month. I was running 11-13 prior to the supercharger install. Now that the 02 sensor is on the fritz my milage could have been skewed prior to any way so I'm going to replace all 3 this weekend and see how the mpg do afterwards. The biggest issue I have is that when you have a manual transmission and you pull through the gears and the supercharger comes online and boost up it really sounds just freaking amazing especially if you have a decent aftermarket exhaust. It is a struggle to keep the boost gauge in vacuum. I know the novelty is still there now, but the Jeep is really alot more enjoyable to drive now. there is no lag in power, I don't hate driving on the highway anymore for lack of high end pull. I am just really happy with my purchase. My kit with install was around $3867.00 that includes a $200.00 extended warranty on the supercharger.

      +Tyi Sloan Wow yeah I understand the problem with the constant uphill struggle on power its no fun when semi trucks pass you up. This is something I am really interested in and cant wait to get to this point on my build. Thanks for all the info and Hope to see some more vids of your rig.

    I like the sound of “3rd gear is a monster”… I’m always saying I wish I had a 3.5 gear here in the mountains of NC.
    Mine is the 4cyl running 31s so that accounts for some of it. Still love it nonetheless

    I had the same ticking from my lifters. I used sea foam in the crank case for about 30 miles then did an oil change. Haven’t heard a tick since. Hope this helps.

    The only issues so far I have ran into is had to replace the factory 02 sensors @119k it was time anyway. It runs real good Im planning of cutting the hood to raise the intake filter outside the engine compartment to keep the heat sink down before it gets to hot.

    Ive heard that tiny tick to be a valve lifter. They work off oil pressure. Maybe a little junky oil inside the lifter or passage ways? (than goes away after warm up) Try seafoam before changing out the oil see if that helps.

    Would love to install one in my jeep, but I'm not so sure on the hood clearance to the super charger. I don't have the same style as yours I have an 03 Laredo. And been having tons of trouble finding videos to the 2003 year Laredos with the 4.0. They are nice models and can be real nice if fixed up. The motor is no different than yours it's also a 4.0. Still running strong at 235,000 miles.

    Hi Tyi Sloan,
    I was wondering how you like your Jeep so far? I have an 02 TJ 4.0 just like yours, same color too. I was wondering if having a supercharger on it now for about 6 months had any negative impact on the Jeep. THANK YOU!

    • @tsloan1283
      @tsloan1283  7 лет назад +2

      Qassem McQue Runs great now. had a issue with my 02 sensors about 4 months into it they were all factory sensors so they were ready to be changed. The latest issue was a clogged down stream cat. Cut it out and now that damn thing runs awesome. World of difference. It's like night and day with a opened up exhaust. And understand all mechanical parts are stock except for the supercharger and exhaust now. So you can expect some slight kinks with your sensors. I should have changed them out prior to install but I was excited to get it installed. other than that it's awesome to drive. Now with that opened up exhaust and supercharger whine under throttle it's pretty rad.

      frank c to date I have about 4300ish invested in the kit and exhaust and new 02 sensors. Fuel savings have been actually very good. I use to fill up every 4-5 day going 31 miles round trip for work. Now I fill up once every 10-12 days according to how much I play around on the road with it.

    • @tsloan1283
      @tsloan1283  7 лет назад

      About 58 to the wheels. Now I this is on a very light modded engine. No internal mods. I bought it and slapped it on this motor to play with the tuning before it goes on my 4.5 stroker. Now with the new engine and a smaller pulley and a re tune. The shop installing it are rating it at around 531 total out put. This is a 4.5 stroker kit moderately aggressive cam and worked heads and bigger injectors and throttle body. This motor is strictly for tunning the kit and getting to know the split second fuel tuning parameters on my laptop.
