@@SuperSmashHoes64 well I put another engine in and I was running it naturally aspirated. The turbo kit blew the original engine. The new engine was on e 85 still but I put some bigger ford injectors in there for the Ethanol. I think one of those injectors o rings gave out and started spraying fuel. Poof.
I had a 98 with the 4.0 back in 2009. That was long before I started getting into modifying my cars. It had a 4spd auto, was slow and sucked gas, so I sold it. 😅
What all did you need to go from your exhaust to the engine bay? Aside from the t3 flange, and what you used from your stock exhaust? I have purchased my turbo with an external wastegate as I was planning on using the boostwerks manifold but if I can use my stock manifold/header I like the position that yours is in a lot better. For the price of the manifold I could buy another turbo that has a built on wastegate and the materials to build my own pipe and probably still be cheaper than the 400 dollar manifold. Plus the exhaust and piping looks a heck of a lot easier than if it was bolted to the manifold.
You need a 180, or a horse shoe to flip the direction. Mine horseshoes right off the header and points up towards the power steering. From there I had to adapt the exhaust size from 2-1/4” to 2-1/2”. It goes up from there and 90’s right under the power steering pump. So things you should get, - a horseshoe, or 180 degree bend. - a couple 45 degree bends, - enough straight piping as you think you’ll need - and a 90 degree for under the pump. All in 2.5 inch piping except for the horseshoe. Obviously I use the stock pipe that bolted to the header that way I could utilize the bung and flange. Just don’t give up and have patience. This was the hardest part for the whole build believe it or not. So if you can get past it, you’re golden.
Thanks! I just ordered piping and everything last night. I’m going to use my external wastegate and fab that up. One other thing I can think of is did you use an oil restrictor? If so what did you use?
I did the same but modified my manifold for riverside mount. I had problems with my power steering over heating and basically was boiling the fluid so thin it would quit working until cooled off. I tricked my pcm so many ways a.d tuned only with a msd box. How's that piggy back? Is it good enough to only use that?
Gas mileage will kind of depend on the application. If you want tons of power, no it won't really help with gas mileage. If you just want a little more power, then yes it's possible to make the engine produce more power even more efficient than stock power numbers. They don't necessarily have to be straight piped, but turbos love exhaust flow, the more the better. IF you take two identical turbo systems, but one is straight piped (assuming all the running conditions are the same) the one that's straight piped will most likely make more power. This is a massive generalization and will 100% depend on your engine and application
Why didn't you just run the turbo hot side out with the rest of the exhaust system and then the air intake on the cold intake side ? Why run it out the hood?
If I were to do it again it would be a proper build. This was the first time ever building something like this and I was pleased with the results. If and when I buy another Jeep I’m sure I’ll make videos on it again.
Hey Alex, I’m trying to setup MegaSquirt on my turbo 4.0. I have to create my fuel and ignition maps from scratch no am having a terrible time finding where to start. Could I see what your fuel and ignition maps are to get a jump start?

A lot has happened since this video… the Jeep was fun and ran for quite some time. 60lb fuel Ev6 Bosch fuel injectors that I bought locally. And an AEM 340lph e85 pump.
