@@colbyboucher6391 well duh. You were probably playing an old version that didn't have much. Not to mention, a lot of the stuff that isn't a scripted event you have to look for around the map. The game "rewards" your curiosity.
Glad you're back to this! There are a few bugs, such as having to use props to push in electrical plugs, and the ATV is glitchy. The dev is working hard to fix these bugs. The main reason the bugs are there is because someone leaked the build.
@@LucidPoseidonthis specific version of the game is an official public release, found on itchio. A patreon-exclusive devbuild was leaked by a bunch of russians in the dev discord server's ru-chat, and so it had to be pushed out early, hence the bugs. Also some features were moved to a future update because they were unfinished.
The weirder events that border on making you think like, "Was this an event, or a bug?" are so awesome because if you have to rationalize them as real events then it's like the simulation or fabricated scenario Kel is trapped in breaking down. I do still hold to the theory that Kel is some kind of experiment, perhaps by some aliens. Because his coworkers do not respond in ways that are reasonable, the non-reactions to Bad Sun and the Dark Sky events, etc. Their reactions, and lack of reactions, only make sense if they're trying to undersell Kel on what he's finding and are in on it. Especially mentioning taking "Amnestics" which are a fabricated thing in the SCP Universe... Combined with the creepy internal thoughts dialogue bubbles you can find in the Tutorial level, implying Kel has seen all this before and that the tutorial level is actually canon... And it's a puzzle for sure.
1:21:57 damn that made my brain sink into my stomach, even behind the screen that makes me want to not watch the video any further, i would probably shut down my entire pc if that happened to me in person, props to you for making it out of this situation, or not, idk i havent watched what happens next yet 😢
That could've happened literally anywhere but it decided to happen right when you entered the creepy basement with an even creepier freezer, but imagine if that happened at the middle of the night, everything suddenly goes pitch black, you can't see anything, you think your game crashed but then you turn on your flashlight only to see that creepy freezer with an unopenable door is suddenly open ready for a monster to run at you from there
The fact that this is probably a bug makes it even scarier because that was never meant to happen, yet against the very intention of the developer, it did
I assume that the 3:33 event of the new basement And it's really creepy Probably creepier than anything in the previous version Walking mannequins? Creepy but not too bad An infinite staircase? Cool Wendigo's curse? Not that bad And then there's this. I'm an atheist but god that was scary.
it's a brand new event that is intentional. not 3:33 am event, it's a random event that occurs whenever it pleases. i think it's called the 'empty base' event. quite spooky, i'd end up ruining not just my pants, but my chair, if it happened to me. i'm just astounded that chris managed to get it so early on! it is very rare, so while it is scary, it is lucky. in a way.
I love the new base overall, but that one giant window in a giant wall right against the woods, that was iconic and will be missed. The new one feels like it was sensibly designed for observation. The old one felt like right in the innermost heart of the base, behind multiple layers of locked doors, the forest was still observing you. Especially at night.
I feel like the main room should have been kept and used as the main bottom floor hallway connecting the stairs, garage and scanner room. Players would likely gravitate toward using it as their main room thanks to the sheer open space and central location while also keeping the rest of the new rooms intact.
What's weird is that after looking through all the in game events, is that the event that happened at 1:21:55 where everything disappeared has no documentation of it happening as an event, which leads me to believe it was not supposed to happen.
Wait... I thought that's a 3:33 basement event no? If it's not documented then it's probably the creepiest thing I've seen in this game. And hopefully will ever see cuz I'm not ready for anything scarier than that.
@@holynokia6030 yeah I haven't played this version (yet) but i watched quite a lot of vids And I've seen it happen only twice including this one So yeah it is very rare Probably much rarer than a bad sun or red sky events
Decided to hold off and play this update myself before watching this. I walked around the base for 10 minutes and just could not do that anymore they made the base even more creepy to the point where I'm gonna have to wait until i can have my emotional support discord group to watch me while i do it
I explored it for the first time with a friend in VC and we were both gushing about how terrifying it is. Seeing that meat locker out of nowhere with no context felt like I was playing a whole different game, especially with how cruelly positioned the power box is, right next to it...
I think it's only more creepy because it's bigger. It's very... abandoned, and comes with all the creepiness that entails. Whereas for the previous base, the base itself just had an utterly insane and sadistic design, realistically speaking.
It's amazing what such a change can do for raising anxiety. I was unphased by the old base but... This new one has an energy. One that can even get a horror vet like me
@@wickedraptor2651 Same! I was always a bit uncomfortable in that dark hallway in the old base, but I got used to it quick and it goes away fully the moment you get glowsticks. With this new base, everything, even your own bedroom and garage bay, feel like one big interconnected creepy hallway, with that feeling being doubled whenever you go up those stairs, knowing something could be waiting at the top OR bottom beneath those stair gaps is so creepy. My one complaint is how slow the elevator is now that fall damage is a thing, because its somehow so slow that any anticipation of something being at the top is lost by the time you get to the top lol
I picked the game up like 3-5 days ago for the first time didn't even know there had been a new update everyone was just now experiencing. And was confused why the base was different. And why there was so much trash. And it has not been a pleasent time. ... Oh the game's fun for sure I love it. But I have been so scared and I haven't even gotten to the real spooky stuff yet. Day 1 Tutorial. Heard footsteps twice! And something moved in the water creating a splash. AS I was reading the hint that said. Don't worry at least there's no one here to chase you with an axe if you get it wrong. *I hear splashing sound to my left and I turn to see a water ripple and then back up to the corner blinking my flashlight as if that would do something.* THEN! IT HAPPENS TO BE THE 24TH when I get in game SO GUESS WHAT I GOT WHEN THE SUN ROSE :D But I knew about this ahead of time. Then later got Dark fog! And just 2 hours ago I was playing and encountered the freaking SHADOW MAN! ... Twice! I'm convinced low graphics settings is the cause for it spawning. As well as fast camera movements.
I missed this, it's nice to just sit back and watch horrors unfold. That Empty World was spooky, I thought that something was going to be in "The Meat Room".
I like to see this as like a sorta reboot for the series. At it's core it's the same, yet it feels so different, the mechanics are the same, but the base is so different.

I am so happy that this game is back! Although a little sad at the same time. During the previous playthrough, the whole thing was so immersive that 'losing ' all the things you achieved during it and starting from zero, almost feels like I lost it myself. But I am very excited to see what this new update has to offer!
The new facility looks like a huge upgrade from the older one, fond of it as I was. It feels much more like a real place, something that was built ages ago, once filled with the hustle and bustle of personnel, and left to it's own means after the end of it's service life. I think that feeling that it *should* be populated, that this isn't a place for one person makes it feel so much more creepy. Seeing that long central hallway lined with (empty?) lockers, a reception area with an (unattended?) security desk, a big loading bay and storage rooms and breakrooms makes you feel like any moment you'll meet a someone else going about their business. And I think that's the worst imagining in that bigger, revamped facility that the previous one never brought up, the question of how long will it be before you aren't the only one there. Also my stomach absolutely plummeted when everything dissapeared, that sort of meta-horror really gets me.

garbage bags sell for 3. garbage bag roll cost 15 points but only contain 12 bags. individual bags cost only 1 point. bigger ROI if you buy individual bags than if you pay an extra 3 points for rolls. the only difference is that you need to take a bag out each time but its not a big difference You can buy 8 rolls for 120 but you will only be able to bag 96 trashes. You will make 288 on the sale - 120 for the rolls and 10 for the box and your net profit is 158. But if you spend the same amount (120) on individual bags, you will be able to bag 120 trashes and sell it for 360 points. Minus 120 and 10, you will make a net profit of 230. For the same investment, you would make 72 more points if you used individual bags. apprx. 47% more points for very little extra effort
I love the amount of work this game gives you, its 0.6-0.7 of a person. Its enough to keep you working most of the time so you can't rest, but also has gaps in your workload for things to happen, AND your work is spread throughout the day. So you can't get lost in it (that noise is less important than work), it makes you constantly chose between boredom or horror.
When I moved over to the new update, I did a clearing house of my old base and loaded everything into the mailbox. Which ended up being much more more scary than I expected. I ended up needing to take a bit more time than I was expecting, and had already deconstructed my omega and loaded it into the mailbox. I was trying to get a few more drives finished to buy something to take with me, and then the power shut off and the manikins came… I sprinted outside in the pitch black and loaded what few items I had left into the box, Saved and exited the game before loading up 7.0. It was actually quite nice. I had the keypad changer a few extra batteries, and some other basic decorations like my radio. It took me about three or four days to get the omega set up again I neglected to bring the raw components for its recipe only the parts, the manual, and with some luck the canister, which I happened to have, despite not being needed originally for the recipe. I felt like a scientist reawaken his robotic son.
@TheLibrarianYT I watched a handful of your videos, and the way you interpreting games what most people would throw away, and you sharing your thought process is actually keeping me motivated to continue my own VR and flatscreen game development, even if it's concepts are unusual or even if it will come out not that good or "super graphics". Because people like you are out there who not just look at a game bluntly if you know what I mean. (sorry my main language is not english). +1 sub on your channel. :) Actually game creation for me is like a cross section a bit between writing music, creating sound effects, and writing a book. It's in own art-form when it has an atmosphere, especially in VR. With a storyline. Sorry for the long post.
I got a big surprise when you made your way into the room adjacent to the ATV bay, there's a sign in there that reads "Høyspenning, livsfare" to warn of lethal voltage in Norwegian when as far as I know VotV is set in the Swiss Alps.
4:12 I'm discovering this game half-blind. I watched IGP play it, and thought it was a cool looking game. I just downloaded it, learned the tutorial, booted up, and walked to this point. I heard something sprinting right behind. I just paused the game, and taking a break. Nothing like hearing footsteps shuffling through grass, rapidly approaching from behind. Looks like you had peaceful shuffling.
I like how even the seemingly scary thing, sometimes aren’t actually threatening in any way. Sometimes it feels like the entities couldn’t care less about you following them around.
Strange to see the base be so much more detailed. I'd grown used to the dingy concrete, and all the extra space in the main room helped me slowly make it my own. There was so much space for rugs, couches, paintings, posters... Like everyone's said, the base being so much more massive and segmented gives it a lot more room to feel scary. More corners to turn, more places to hide in fear. So in a way, the increased comfiness makes it harder to get used to. I'm excited for it.

A tip withe the electric plugs for microwaves and such, if you cant grab the plug itself try using a crowbar to hit it, if you hit it at the right angle the electrical plug will move, and you can possibly bounce it into the socket, this might take some retrying though. hope this proves helpful to some people in the community, and to librarian! keep up the amazing videos!
I believe it was said by Dr.NoNose(the dev) that the location takes place in the mountainous regions of Norway. Edit: nevermind, it’s actually Switzerland. They are close though, so maybe the base is near the borders of Switzerland and Norway.
I was basically saying the area could be(sort of) in between Norway and Sweden, not as in like a real physical border though. Even if this isn’t true, I’d expect Norwegian people to most likely have close relations with the Swiss(It’s like having Spanish speaking people in the U.S, but for Norwegian people and Swiss people). Anyways, it’d make for a cool detail if this is true.
@@entangledatoms7153 i think you are mixing up Switzerland and Sweden. Norway has a very long border and a close relasionship with sweden. I miss the old base, but I'm absolutely in love with the new one. This new control room is definitely far more spartan than the last. I liked having the little entryway and the computers humming to the left and the pool of water and that distance to the garage door.
It took me _so_ goddamn long to pick this game up and try it for myself-'cause of you, by the way!-and that was because I needed _extreme_ amounts of exposure to approach a place where I wasn't too petrified to walk from the console to my bed. This game _terrifies_ me. And this update has reinvigorated my fear in its entirety. I cannot adequately explain how unnerving the new base is to me; there's something so brutally disconcerting about its every nook and cranny that each seem wholly _designed_ to let my mind run rampant with theories and waking nightmares about what could be lurking _unseen._ Not to mention that bit at the end where you legitimately _stepped into a parallel universe_ where the observation station had been _gutted for parts_ and left for dead in the middle of the woods for _god only knows what sordid purposes,_ fostering _who knows what_ for _who knows how long._ I would just fall comatose if that happened to me. I- I wouldn't even _begin_ to know how to deal with that. I barely felt safe in the old building, and I knew fifteen minutes into this video that I'll _never_ feel safe in _this one._ Basically, this update's great! c:

Glad you're back to this! There are a few bugs, such as having to use props to push in electrical plugs, and the ATV is glitchy. The dev is working hard to fix these bugs. The main reason the bugs are there is because someone leaked the build.
It got leaked? I thought the dev just decided to release an early version for some public bug testing. Do we know who leaked it?
@@LucidPoseidonthis specific version of the game is an official public release, found on itchio.
And it's a puzzle for sure.
the weird events are pranks from aliens, but the tutorial is an arg (also the red skull signal summons an eldrich horror)

That could've happened literally anywhere but it decided to happen right when you entered the creepy basement with an even creepier freezer, but imagine if that happened at the middle of the night, everything suddenly goes pitch black, you can't see anything, you think your game crashed but then you turn on your flashlight only to see that creepy freezer with an unopenable door is suddenly open ready for a monster to run at you from there
The fact that this is probably a bug makes it even scarier because that was never meant to happen, yet against the very intention of the developer, it did
I assume that the 3:33 event of the new basement
And it's really creepy
Probably creepier than anything in the previous version
Walking mannequins? Creepy but not too bad
An infinite staircase? Cool
Wendigo's curse? Not that bad
And then there's this.
I'm an atheist but god that was scary.
That event was one of the scariest things I've ever seen. I seldom get unnerved by anything any more and that truly fucked me up. Loved it
it's a brand new event that is intentional. not 3:33 am event, it's a random event that occurs whenever it pleases. i think it's called the 'empty base' event. quite spooky, i'd end up ruining not just my pants, but my chair, if it happened to me. i'm just astounded that chris managed to get it so early on! it is very rare, so while it is scary, it is lucky. in a way.
OH MY GOD I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT I'M WAITING FOR A NEW VOICES OF THE VOID VIDEO FOR SO LONG I'M SO EXCITED

*I hear splashing sound to my left and I turn to see a water ripple and then back up to the corner blinking my flashlight as if that would do something.*
THEN! IT HAPPENS TO BE THE 24TH when I get in game SO GUESS WHAT I GOT WHEN THE SUN ROSE :D But I knew about this ahead of time. Then later got Dark fog! But I am very excited to see what this new update has to offer!
You can keep some of your things with the mailbox, at least things that'll help getting another run going smoother.
That moment where it trow a from the fog hallucination at you really was unsettling

garbage bags sell for 3. garbage bag roll cost 15 points but only contain 12 bags. individual bags cost only 1 point. bigger ROI if you buy individual bags than if you pay an extra 3 points for rolls. the only difference is that you need to take a bag out each time but its not a big difference
You can buy 8 rolls for 120 but you will only be able to bag 96 trashes.
11:55 HE SAID IT
When I moved over to the new update, I did a clearing house of my old base and loaded everything into the mailbox. Which ended up being much more more scary than I expected.
I ended up needing to take a bit more time than I was expecting, and had already deconstructed my omega and loaded it into the mailbox. I was trying to get a few more drives finished to buy something to take with me, and then the power shut off and the manikins came…
I sprinted outside in the pitch black and loaded what few items I had left into the box, Saved and exited the game before loading up 7.0.

I cannot adequately explain how unnerving the new base is to me; there's something so brutally disconcerting about its every nook and cranny that each seem wholly _designed_ to let my mind run rampant with theories and waking nightmares about what could be lurking _unseen._
Not to mention that bit at the end where you legitimately _stepped into a parallel universe_ where the observation station had been _gutted for parts_ and left for dead in the middle of the woods for _god only knows what sordid purposes,_ fostering _who knows what_ for _who knows how long._ I would just fall comatose if that happened to me. I- I wouldn't even _begin_ to know how to deal with that.
I barely felt safe in the old building, and I knew fifteen minutes into this video that I'll _never_ feel safe in _this one._
