The fact that the game tricks the player into thinking it has to load that room with the computer is such a clever idea for the time. Only moments later to have it rip away the curtain and inform the player that they are truly not safe anywhere.
The thumbnail screamer is still the most vicious jumpscare I've ever seen in a game. The combination of just how *early* into the game it comes, the comparatively low-key spooks in the camera flashes before it, and the fact that you're focusing on the X in the distance in the pitch black environment so you're guaranteed to be looking *right at it*. Iconic.
The music of CoF doesn't get enough appreciation. It has an absolutely fantastic soundtrack that contributes so much to the atmosphere and vibe of the game. The track 'Brandon' is to this day one of my favorite video game tracks of all time. There's so much heavy and complex emotion packed into such a simple acoustic song. The OST also gained a particular personal significance to me during the few years I spent homeless, before I got my current apartment. There's a CoF music mix created by Cry Cafe on RUclips that I must have listened to hundreds of times during that time. I'm not sure what it was about that particular mix, but if I could find a space that was quiet and comfortable enough (usually the library,) it was uniquely effective for helping me relax, meditate, clear my head, and just sort of dissociate and detach my mind from the world for an hour or so, which was essential for my mental health during that time. Nothing else I found worked for me the way that one did, so it's very special to me.
Your ending point about the wallowing in depression & also the intro of the game is umconfortably feeling relatable. Also that OST at the end is awesome. Loved your vid man
After you talked about how this game has influenced you I realized I still get dreams about this game. It has such a unique and defined aesthetic despite the muted, bland color palette and simple gameplay. Even with the sea of games like it Cry of Fear stands out on its own in my mind.
You're actually replaying this? Holy crap. I still remember watching your old playthrough and absolutely loving this game. I played it a couple of times since then and I can say that Cry of Fear is one of my favourite games ever. I love the atmosphere, the story and how some themes are aborded in this game. And the fact that this game was made in GoldSource is insane. This is such an awesome game. I really hope that in the future you do more revisits like this.
I adore listening to this game to go to sleep with and I adore your voice. This is the PERFECT combination. Bless you The Librarian. I think i know quite a few of your videos off by heart now lol
Excellent decision to revisit this game - I've been following for a while, and remain impressed with your growth as a presenter! If past you could see you now, indeed - I hope your channel continues to grow, which I am sure it will! Best regards, and much thanks for the content.
Cry of Fear!! I genuinely believe this is one of the best horror games made. No matter how many times I play it I still get scared. CoF also has one of the best OSTs that would actually calm me down if something happened. The sounds of everything and the monsters just give me the so much nostalgia. It also really comforted me with the whole premise and the main character not reaaalllyy doing the best. I love this game so much
I actually really wanted to watch a playthrough of this game (made by you specifically) but when I tried to watch the one from 4 years ago it just had such a different vibe than I anticipated I just couldnt. Glad to see a "remaster" of the series
You reconice the places in gammla stan from when you have been there and the50 60tal apartments with the typical balconys is a nice environment in the game, trapphusen ,portarna ,sandboxarna ..
I like revisiting Games, many times when you rewatch or replay a pice of media you may notice things missed first go around. Also cry of fear in 2024 is needed, it was very popular, but people now have no idea , another good reason for revisiting Games , introducing them to a new audience
I faintly remember the time I played this game for the first time, either on a old laptop, orrrrr on console, don't remember if it was, I remember that I had left the game before I had even gotten 25% done with it, I was a midget and was really scared of it, far too scared, but now I've been able to brave through it, and boy I am so glad I did, this game is a masterpiece.
Hell yea, I still find the fact this was made in gold source (half life 1's engine) stupidy impressive. If you like this game, you should play "Total Chaos." It's a stand-alone doom mod ( not that you could tell), and its getting a remake as well! You should also play "afraid of monsters" witch is kind of a spiritual forbarer to this game.
Feel like you're using the phone too much. If I remember correctly, using a phone will lessen the accurencey of the gun, and the damage of mele weapons
It does. Duel wielding does reduce accuracy and increase recoil. In more brightly lit areas it is best to keep the phone stowed away. However, in the future, some weapons can get flashlight attachments or come with something like that.
I am witnessing this videomotion production from the year of his majesty 1812!. Can you believe Napoleon returned from Elba?, that chap doesn't know when to give up!

This one used to haunted me when I was a child, still spooky!
9:55 now THIS is the new "best jumpscare ever" of this channel

"My voice feels like sandpaper right now" - Chris Librarian
Typo, his first name is "The", not Chris
22:39 that scared the cowboy out of him
Your ending point about the wallowing in depression & also the intro of the game is umconfortably feeling relatable.

Duuuuuude, this brings me back so hard! I loved the old playthrough, thank you for bringing it back!!!

I was literally just thinking of this game last night, one of the most underrated horror games of all time
I adore listening to this game to go to sleep with and I adore your voice. This is the PERFECT combination. Bless you The Librarian. I think i know quite a few of your videos off by heart now lol

Oh shit, I had always meant to watch your original play through of this because I've been a huge fan of Cry of Fear for the last ten years!
As a swedish person thats never been to Stockholm this is what it looks like, including the monsters

any plans on playing the Silent hill 2 remake?
UPLOADED 41 seconds ago! BABE GET THE MEATLOAF
I regard this game as a cousin to Silent Hill. If you (any other viewers) don't know why then I won't say why till likely the end of the game.
I can't wait!...

You should try to play Arkham Asylum on the channel! Not exactly a horror game, but still has some pretty scary parts

insert unoriginal comment about falling off here
WHOS WATCHING IN 2026??
Bros 5 years late, lol. It's 2031 dude
I am witnessing this videomotion production from the year of his majesty 1812!. Can you believe Napoleon returned from Elba?, that chap doesn't know when to give up!
Now that you have been starting to revisit previous games that you have already played on the channel back in the day (Lost in Vivo, Nightmare House 2 and now Cry of Fear) i think now its time to finally ask and request something that has been on my head sience you finished playing and uploaded the Spooky's DLC's: You should 100% record a video on the HD Renovation version of the game, not only its a graphical update, but it basically fixes a lot of the flaws the original one has, but it also includes enough new and polished content to be worth it, not only that, but it also includes VR implementation!! It would be cool to watch you come back to it after many years, with the graphical and improved content, but also, making use of something that its so characteristic rof the channel today!!!
I bet it would be so cool for many of the old watchers here from back in the day, anyway, i've enjoyed this upload a lot too, and im eager to watch the rest too, have nice day Mr. 𝚃𝚑𝚎 𝙻𝚒𝚋𝚛𝚊𝚛𝚒𝚊𝚗™©²⁰¹³
