This was a great video. I've been using Inventor for quite a number of years but have never had a need for this function until my son got into 3D printing. Now he wants to make a large print but needs to break it down into smaller bites. This video has now given me the tools to help teach him how better use the software. Thank you!

That was really so informative to watch. Sir, your videos should be by default in the Autodesk Help file ! you explain every single button on a dialog box ! Keep them coming :)

Thank you so much. This tutorial was exactly what I needed. I might not have been able to finish my design project without it. Definitely subscribing and checking out everything else on your channel and learn everything else I can from you

Super helpful, I have never found a use for the splitting surface command. I was worried I just didn't understand it but even after this video I'm still not sure what it's purpose is.

Yeah, it's one of those commands where the uses are very specific to your design effort. That's why in the video, I used it on a mock up of a ring light housing design. It makes it easy to start with one solid piece, then split it up and save it as separate parts after you have seen what the overall design envelope looks like at a preliminary level. You can also create some pretty complex geometry by removing material from a solid using an eccentrically shaped surface feature (i.e. computer mouse surface design).
I'm glad you like the videos and thank you so much for reaching out!

@@engineeringapplied Personally I use the split surface command to split parts into sizes that are more manageable for the lasercutter

Really good video sir! I got inventor 2017 and the option "make part" dont show when I right click on one or the other solid. is there another way of doing this?

Partially answered my question. Would have been more informative if you utilized some more realistic real-world example models. such as bearing housings etc. The two examples you gave were much too simplistic to be considered "IN DEPTH". Well presented nevertheless. Sub'd
