Wow yeah the erhu really does sound like a whistle, that's so cool! The vibe was just right and the groove was so locked in 👍Loved some of the video transitions too :D
Thanks so much Samantha! I've been learning so much on the video edit end ever since the switch over to resolve, and I'm so happy with the results! It makes the video edit so much more fun!
I love this cover! It's so rich and warm--it's definitely giving ren faire parade. I also want to say thanks for all the hard work you put into these videos, for composing, recording, and arranging so many moving parts to give us a fantastic song and video! I really look forward to your videos :) Hope you're doing well!
Thanks so much for your support! I'm glad for the experience that I've gained over the last few years of making music and videos that I'm proud of. I'm doing well, feeling productive most of the time, but taking some rest when I need it.
As soon as I saw this pop up, I thought, "This is going to be great!" And indeed it is! Festive and full of warmth. How you used the erhu and mandolin stand out, as well as accordion and electric guitar. Always putting that fresh spin on classics.
Thanks so much Thomas! I don't think I would have tried to do the erhu like that on stream because it's hard for me to get a clean tone and be in tune up there, so I think I made something better for having taken a little more time. I'm glad you liked it!
@SheaViolin definitely worth the time you put in! I had noticed on the streams how tricky that erhu can be; so I was impressed! Congratulations on all of your hard work bringing this album together!
I'm spending extra time practicing it for a secret future project with another producer, because I want to make sure that it goes well when I get my parts 😁 I think I made some huge progress on it in the last two weeks, working on technique for string crossing in particular high to low string which has always given me a few problems. Do you think I should include any other songs off the soundtrack for the album or just work on releasing it now with what I have?
@@SheaViolin "secret future project", in a CT vid comments, makes me imagine we'll see a Nu who walks up and says, "It's me! Shea! I downloaded myself into this creature!" Anyway... 😅 If my channel skimming is correct: you've put out 11 CT songs in the past year? 12 (one for each hour on the clock) would seem a nice number. No ideas off the top of my head. Surely, you have something you're eager to bring into the Modern Shea Era? (Yes, I did get the wordplay on that.)
I would add Schala's Theme and the CT Main Theme to the album, but I would probably remaster both of those for the album, but I'm not sure if they need new recordings. Some of my other considerations are "To Faraway Times" (ending theme) the epoch theme, battle with magus, and undersea temple. But I also want to release the album and not delay it for too long!
Oh wow, what a joyous Violin cover of this classic song! Chrono Trigger is one of my favorite jrpg games and your rendition takes me back through time, well done!
This was a wonderful addition to my morning! Really looking forward to the full album, so awesome that you've this full compilation going. Really looking forward to being able to grab it as a full package!
Thanks so much! I'm excited to actually have an album too! My previous attempts to stay on target (other than my Octopath 2 work) fizzled out before I actually finished something, but I definitely have enough material now for an album!
I've been looking forward to this one, this track was always one of my favorites! You’re right, that high erhu is very convincing as a whistle! Really great arrangement!
man this is so good! I can only think of 2 others that are as good as this and that is tera and diwa's versions but they both had help and you did this all on your own and used more instruments so I kind of want to give you more credit for how good this is! also looking forward to the album since this is my favorite game and I make it a habit to get any chrono trigger albums from musicians I like to add to my collection!
Aww thank you! I'm so proud of how much I've improved on mixing, arrangement, and production in the last four years. It makes me so happy to be able to make music that resonates with so many people! I don't know if I'll make a physical version or just release it to streaming services. It's a whole lot of logistics, and my audience is pretty small, so I was leaning toward streaming only. It's an extra $500 or so to do physical copies and licensed Bandcamp, and I really don't think I can sell 50 to break even. But I'll think about it.
I wanted to get the drones onto the instruments that I introduced later into the arrangement and put the violas back on melody support to bring up the energy and set it apart from the way it's played in the intro. I'm glad it worked for you, and thank you!!
The videos on your youtube channel are very nice. I'm one of the loyal subscribers of your channel. I have been following your channel for the last month. Your youtube channel video quality is very good. Thumbnails are eye catching. Your channel deserves more views. But there is some problem with your channel. For which your channel views and subscriptions are not increasing. If you say I can share with you.
Thanks! I'm glad you're enjoying them! I know what I need to do in order to grow the channel, and that's to lean into trending topics or produce music that's more in demand in different styles like lo-fi. The acoustic cover of video game music space is very saturated, and there's just not that much demand for artists that don't already have a following. I think I've got a unique sound, and that makes it hard for the algorithm to find an audience for my content, because there's not already an existing audience that's similar for the algorithm to find, and music isn't popular on youtube like it was 10 years ago. I'm considering reaction content, but I'm not sure exactly what that looks like for me yet. I don't believe that "seo" or tags/keywords will make an under-performing content class suddenly do better. The content is king, and right now this type of content isn't in demand.
I could slam 8 sodas and steal an old man's lunch to this.
😂 every time I hear this I want to play the intro sequence again!
That chugging contest is no joke. Luckily one of my friends is a professional button masher.

Anyone else tell “ha!” to this?

Its a holiday in my area today, I'm just making my coffee and this pops up. My morning is now perfect lol
Enjoy your holiday and coffee this morning! I'm just sitting down with my coffee as well. Glad you liked it!!
You really captured the renaissance fair vibes so well in this! I had to do a triple take...
I could have swore that high erhu was a whistle 😂
It really works so well as a whistle! Thanks Luke!
The best cover of Guardia Millennial Faire I've ever heard.
Thanks so much Naeddyr! I'm so glad that it delivered all the right energy!

Thanks so much! It's such a lovely exposition for the game, and this song captures all of those feelings of carefree joy for me. 😊
Sorry I'm late to the fair! Love the accordion! The cool instruments never stop multiplying!
It's just a matter of time 😜 thanks Annalisa!
Very Beautiful and amazing Music Cover 🎵👏👏👏🤩 love this. 👍🏼 67
Thank you so much! And thanks for subscribing and listening to more!
And another one! I love your instrumentation as always, it makes for such an incredible blend of sounds ❤
Thank you so much! I had fun with making the erhu sound like a whistle this time :)

Always a lovely way to unwind after a long week. Thank you!
You're welcome, and thank you so much for listening!
The beginning of the adventure !
When the world was still carefree!

This is amazing, that high erhu was damn impressive
Thanks so much Trem! I practiced for HOURS on just those little sections to get those tiny takes clean enough!
What a great vibe!
Thanks so much!
Awesome as always! Loved the variation for the ending.

unsubbing for no "HA" at the start
Great work as usual!
Ha! Thanks ;) Maybe I can make another version with a ha, but when I asked for help a few months ago I only got two recordings.
Crushed it as always. So many instruments and they're so well used lol.
Chrono Trigger Album?
Thanks! And yup! I just have to decide when I've got enough to put up the album as a complete experience
HA!
Definitely need the audience participation for this!
