Okay, I'm here after 3 months of practicing
I wasn't motivated. but right now i can say it was worth. i noticed an improvement, today. i was playing a song around 130bpm with double pedals. i always struggled with it, my double bass at that tempo used to be slopy and not good, but today i played it... and it was perfect.
i really love you Eugene, today has been one of my best days in my life. and this is motivating me more and more.

Thank you for sharing all this advices. This video and expecially the "advanced double bass techniques" gave me the sprint I was searching for.
Anyway, even if im a beginner at double bass, I'm doing an exercise from the "advanced" video: after all the exercises from this video, I do 10 minutes of 100 bpm (from yesterday 110). I found it really usefull, I can hear my muscles scream (expecially the weak leg) every time I do it, but I guess it's normal because it's like gymnastics for drummers and this will stremgthen my legs

best teaching video i've seen. I can see that you eugene had all those problems and kept working on it. Im a friend/student of Derek Roddy, and one thing that he always tells me is that: only way to get better at blast beats is to play blast beats, the only way to improve your double bass is to play double bass, and with control speed will come. Enough, time to go practice and slowly.

First goal was fade to black, 140bpm. Second aouth of heaven 156. Then the hardest part 150-170bpm. Then 170-190 the easiest part. Trust me everybody can.

Thank you for your videos, Eugene!
I've toyed with an e-drum kit at home for almost a year, and recently bought double bass pedals. I learned how to play double bass stroke rolls at ~125 BPM pretty early on (using hi-hat pedal as 2nd bass), and quickly caught up with the proper double bass pedals, but never progressed beyond that. I think it's because I can't transition from whole-leg to the "bouncing the footboard like a basketball" technique without losing (almost all) strength and control.
It would be really nice if you could post a guide, or a video, for "almost beginners" or "intermediate" players who are in between this and your "Advanced double bass techniques" video, and are looking to progress beyond whole leg motion. Duzhe dyakuyu and greetings from Finland!

Well, I started playing drums with 7 (I´m 18 now) and since I thought about what to become in my future I always dreamed ´bout getting a metal drummer. But after a surgery in march 2016 I haven´t been able to play/practise for over 8 months. After this long time I started to practise again and finally I got a Doublebase too. I didn´t know anything ´bout it just tried to play my fav songs and so on.
The thing was, none of the teachers I had, had any Idea of doublebase so the only thing I got thaugt was marchmusic and jazz. Sadly I didn´t like that kind of music very much so I lost all the motivation and fun I had with drumming very quickly.
Well sure, sometimes I tried to work with stuff I found on the Internet but because of the non existing "fun factor" my will to improve didn´t last long.
Now, in 2019 after some years of just "tantalizing" myself with music I really don´t like and which took all the fun I had with drumming I signed of this lessons.
Thanks to your tutorials, motivation came back and I started to enjoy playing the drums again. So thanks for that Eugene! Can´t wait to improve my not really existing doublebase skills. And share it with others.
Well I got problemes with my hands again, but I´m staying positive and I´m willing to fight for my dreams now, because I can see progress using your tipps.
Greetings from Austria and thanks to your awesome vids!

There is one area in which I disagree with most extreme metal drummers' tutorials (I'm not 100% sure I could say this video does it too), which is always linking the right hand with the right foot. It is much simpler to get started this way, but you will ultimately put yourself at a disadvantage. Just like playing open-handed (with both hands having the ability to lead) rather than cross-handed gives a huge advantage long-term over other drummers, you will be much better in the long term if you can lead with both feet.
The best remedy for a weak foot is not to have a weak foot in the first place. If you want to see some drummers who can demonstrate the advantages of being able to left-foot lead - such as pedal-bridging with the hi-hat - see Gene Hoglan, Akira Jimbo, and Vinnie Paul.
