    Right, so apologies in advance the filming is a little off on this one and you get that annoying clicky noise for a bit. (don't worry Phil, we still love you)
    This is a card routine where I find all of the cards from a suit in order. It's a fun one. I used to use this as a closer when competing in card magic competitions.

    watching this compared to the one he did with dodie u can see how much more confidence he's gained it makes me happy :)

      To be fair, the crowd in this one is totally dead. Dodie was super excited, and it made the whole trick more lively.

    Thank you very much. I completely agree with you. I do deliberately make sure the routine doesn't look too polished. Especially with doing the "12,3,4,5,6 and 7 cuts to hopefully get the 7". I can do it a lot smoother but once I messed it up a little bit and the impact went up so starting subtly restructuring the routine. Awesome that you've picked up on that! :)

    This is actually really humbling to see. The trick is still amazing but you can tell this was a new trick he's been practicing for weeks. Even on a hobbyist level I hope to achieve this level of skill one day.

    I've just now heavily gotten into "magic" and yes, you actually can! It gives you so much more presence than if you were just a normal every day person

    Its more about creating the suspense that magic is actually occurring. He knows exactly where the cards are. Good magic is about acting and feeling it. Nice work. :)

    Thanks mate, Nice suggestion. Yeah i've been thinking a lot about this routine since then. I've had a lot of feedback, negative and positive on the routine. I'm not sure if it would benefit more from being stripped back into something simpler. Lots to think about.

  • @stevenbridges
    @stevenbridges  12 лет назад

    That means so much Marcus. Thank you very much! It's an honour to be compared to someone like Dynamo, means a lot that you think that. I've had the pleasure of meeting Dynamo, such a great guy. Very skilled magician, really cool guy. He taught me his trick where the deck of cards cuts itself in half and the card jumps out. I love that trick, it's one of the videos in a few weeks time so hopefully you'll enjoy that. :)
    Thanks for commenting :)

    I like your trick. I don't know if it's intentional, but the bit of fumbling on the flare is actually pretty charming, I think it makes you more relateable. Seeing someone who manipulates cards perfectly like they're superhuman kind of takes away from the experience - yeah it might seem like more magic, but there's no tension. If there are perceived imperfections in the routine, if gives you a sort of possibility of failure which is very engaging.

    Thanks for the feedback. I see what you mean about the lack of perfection and i'll take that on board. I actually can perform the routine a lot smoother but I deliberately make some bits looks 'sloppy' as to emphasise the difficulty. I personally feel for a sleight of hand based routined its good to demonstrate the skill and emphasise the difficulty. Saying that I definitely agree, this was not a great performance. Either way thanks for the feedback. Have a nice day :)

    Thanks mate. This is one of those things that is a lot more detectable on video than it is when you watch it live. If you see something like this live, its hard to see how any of it is done because the magician can direct your attention. :) I'm glad you enjoyed it though!

  • @stevenbridges
    @stevenbridges  12 лет назад

    Yeah, I sort of didn't want it to look too polished so that it looked difficult. If i'd done everything perfectly I think some of the impact may have been lost. Thanks very much for your feedback though. :)

  • @stevenbridges

    Hi Stjustyle.
    Thanks very much for your comment. To be perfectly honest, this performance is by no means a fair representation of my card handling ability. I actually do deliberately act a bit 'sloppy' at certain points but this is to emphasise the difficulty of the trick. If you look at some of my other video's you'll see some much smoother handling. I'm very surprised out of all my videos that this is the one that has got the most attention, which is why I have left it online. Thanks again :)

    Steven does this trick again with Dodie - it's one of my favourite videos because it gets such an incredible reaction. I also noticed there is a large butted join running thru the centre. I would find that very irritating for spreads and coin magic. I built my own table which folds up but there is no seam and it measures 40 x 60 cms. Perfect for cups and balls. It mounts on a camera tripod and is very stable. I can make you one if you like.

  • @stevenbridges

    hehe, i'd never cheat at poker. ;D One time I was playing poker in a casino, normally I tell people I'm a magician but this time I forgot. One guy came over to the table and said "You guys realise this guy is a magician?". Everyone at the table flipped out. :P

  • @stevenbridges

    Was thinking it would be cool to film some At The Card Table stuff in an actual casino. What do you guys think? :)
    It's a bit of a long shot as Casino's do not like filming but if I said 'pleeeeeeease' they might let me ;D

    Simple tricks done very well in a good performance, one thing I might add though is rhythm and suspense, slow it down a tad and make it look harder, while doing that will add suspense in your audience , also make them pick some cards, do it in their hands and watch their expressions go from that was amazing to holy crap wtf just happened in my hands
