@Derck McCoy Drugs is bad, and a population addicted to any substance is gonna turn into a shithole. But thats basically what we have already. Prohbition isnt gonna work. It might work for Sweden, it might work for norway, but not for america. Its basic economics. Restricting the supply of drugs is gonna do litterally nothing. The demand never increases or decreases, and the supply restricting itself is only gonna make drug lords more money, as adicts dont care about how high prices are, and no ones gonna go into drugs just because meth has hit an all time low and its good to buy. If we make cannabis and equivalent corporatized, it would probably help people more in the long run through taxing and heavily regulating these substances. Education on the topic is cheaper and more effective against drugs. while every kid knows drug = bad, we never teach them about actual mental effects substances have on you. Spamming propaganda is more effective than what we doing rn. While this sounds stupid and liberal, i dont want my taxes going to the trillions every year dedicated to nannying grown adults that cant control themselves.

It’s amazing that they found out how to create malware to get into the system. I’m just a regular person earning a living I see stories like this and it’s greed that get all of them in trouble I’ve never seen money like that. Great video
well, not at all, the servers were at OVH, a very large hosting company in north of France; as soon as the french police found it was hosted at OVH there is really no difficulty at all to compromize, they just got a warant allowing them to do whatever they please with the server.
The whole Encrochat breach is really interesting, and with every announcement it gets more interesting. End to end encryption does not line up with the story that the data was captured on the servers in France. One of those statements must be false. So maybe encrochat lied to some of the world's most powerful criminals about the functions of the service that directly led to their arrest (very unlikely, if someone has a torture chamber, it's not a stretch to say they might kill to stay out of prison). Or that the police didn't gather the data from the servers in France, but gathered the data from the phones themselves. If that is the case, French police have been spying on people all over the globe that was not suspected of being criminals and without a court order. I live in Sweden so it's the laws I know best, and here you need a warrant to get an wiretapp admissible in court and to get it you need some proof that it is a criminal. But in this case everyone with Encrochat was targeted, which makes it illegal to do in Sweden. So it might be that a foreign country (France) illegally wiretapped Swedish nationals in Sweden without a warrant, and to top that of, it wasn't targeted. Not everyone using highly encrypted devices are criminals, Snowdens leak showed us that intelligence agencies really do wiretap legal politicians, lawyers and private citizens. So it's not unreasonable to assume that French police illegally wiretapped Swedish politicians and/or layers in Sweden without Swedish authorities knowing it. I hope that the truth comes out and justice will be served. We can't break the laws to catch criminals.
My understanding is the last sentence of your third paragraph describes the situation; that the French put malware on the servers that was pushed out onto the devices themselves. They certainly changed the operation of some features, such as disabling the panic wipe feature.
@@TheMobReporter Also to answer the legality question of wire tapping: The German BND is not allowed to spy on German citizens so they source it out to the NSA who is stationed in Germany. They repay each other with information.
It is a huge controversy. What I read / think happened. The dutch breached the servers, pushed an update with mallware which revealed all local encryption keys. This wasn't possible for all the devices they sold (but the majority). With these keys they could monitor the server and decrypt all traffic. Because of laws and shit, the dutch hid the fact that they were the ones that orchestrated everything and simply told public that the France did it and they simply received the data. If you know anything about darknet, you'll know that the dutch are big in the cybercrime world and I also believe this narrative. It also looks like that is why this officer is getting charged a year later, just to make sure that laywers in all the cases don't have ammo to undermine the encrochat breach.
Another great story and incredible inside look, brought to us by "The Mob Reporter." I don't believe in Co-Inky-Dinks.... She sold the Law out, but the Law Won... :)
I mean, this isn’t like regular police enforcement it’s pretty corrupt hiring geniuses at decent wages to extort criminals, and then proceed to use that to spy on any “dissenting citizens”.
There’s always a smarter, more paid, more dead-set computer guy out there. If you get into something you’re not supposed to, you’ll kept on close observation.

F these agencies that breached this company, they are dirtier than them. They caught them only because they broke the business of their own friends...

This represents an interesting dilemma for gangsters and a powerful point of attack for the police. After the EncroChat hack how can any gangster ever again be sure that whatever successor of EncroChat he or she uses isn't a Trojan horse too. Gangsters need communication and the only way to communicate today is by electronic means. How are they going to solve this problem? One time pads? I could even imagine that the treason allegedly committed by police agents was done with the purpose of blowing the whole caper in order to finally making gangsters aware of this dilemma and casting what must be permanent doubt into the world of criminal communication.
lol Encrochat was a setup from the Jump
Right.

Seriously, all this for drugs and firearms... Nevermind that there's a literal industry of slave trading that's still alive and well. Pathetic.

@@TheMobReporter the skills are very superb my friend!
I do, I do let him tell me about it. Got me wondering, is it criminal to defeat covert surveillance ?
Hmmm. Against yourself or someone else? I can’t see how would be for yourself. Perhaps a mischief charge if it’s against someone else? Anyone know?
Look at this criminal sympathizer. Smh
