no, willy gives you a *bamboo rod* for free on the second day. you can buy a bamboo rod for 500g. the training rod costs 25g.

No one ran into town immediately to search trash cans? Did we just not see that? Even a Joja cola found in the trash on day one can be saved in a chest for the bulletin board request for 75g (for three training rods 😆).
