Well… nearly two thirds of Liszt’s works are non-fully original works (arrangements/reminiscences/paraphrases/transcriptions etc.), so it’s not surprising to find such a piece appear in a Liszt’s themes video
@@ValkyRiver"nearly two thirds", there are ~700 pieces published under his named, two thirds is ~466, meaning he made 234 original works, comparable to other romantic composers at the time. It's not like he couldn't write his own stuff
I discovered Liszt with the “Rhapsodie Hongroise No. 2” when I was young and fell in love with it, but I'd never managed to take the step of discovering any of his other works (except the famous “Liebestraum No. 3”). I discovered “Bénédiction de Dieu dans la Solitude” by chance a few years ago, and what a discovery it was! Since then, I've continued to discover Liszt's talent as a melodist, with the various “Reminiscences”, “Rhapsodie Hongroise” and “Vallée d'Obermann”. I have yet to explore his vast piano catalog (piano concertos, sonatas, etc.). What would you recommend?
The orchestral works - symphonic poems, the two symphonies. The more obscure fantasies and paraphrases. The Petrarch sonnets as songs. All these are definitely worth a listen.
In addition to the above, more of Années de Pelerinages; Harmonies du soir from the Transcendental Etudes; Concert Etudes; Un sospiro; Legends (esp #2)
I almost feel like there's the "Hungarian Rhapsody" Liszt (showpieces to dazzle the crowd) and the "everything else" Liszt that has a lot more depth to it.
@@ManjulaBrahmachari I will add Medtner and Scriabin, in my long music discovery journey, I have never found anyone more clever, original and ingenious!
Hexameron, Annees de Pelerinage, Polonaises?, Lucretia Borgia fantasy?, Eugene Onegin, B minor Sonata, Sonata del Petrarch, William Tell?, Mephisto Walz, transcendental etudes, piano concerti, Concert Etudes, apres un lecture de DANTE… embarrassment of riches!
That’s NOT even 10% of the GREAT melodies this God Sent Angelic Figure called Franz Liszt wrote. From his Transcendental Etudes, to his voyages in Europe Books I, II, III, to his Mephisto Waltz NOT only Mephisto #1. Mephisto waltz 3 also has touchy melodies. Countless works. Dante sonata, Sonata in b-minor, . I have spent at least 30yrs of my life learning his pieces.
One thing this list is missing is Waldesrauschen, absolutely magical.
The Reminiscence de Norma isn’t Liszt’s theme, it’s Bellini’s
🤓

@@blackmage1276why do you feel the need to be so matter of fact, ego?
Even if the theme is not written directly by Liszt the way it is transcribed to piano by him is undeniably brilliant.

nice
most beautiful by liszt is the benediction, but you still must listen to the sonata, because it is pretty incredible
Surprised you didn't mention any of the Concert Etudes S.144 (e.g. Un Sospiro) or the Consolations
Also Sonata in B- has some amazing themes
en este video hay muchas piezas de liszt que no son tan famosas como las que acabas de mencionar, supongo que su objetivo también era darlas a conocer

B minor and dante sonata definitely

Harmonies poetiques et religious, consolations, apparitions and if you want Schubert waltzes but in Liszt’s style you have to try soirées de vienne

I can’t believe you didnt include cantique d’amour!
Great video! Can you do an Alkan version of this?
How about the Polonaises?
Liszt was genius!
Genius is an understatement. He is up there with the true canonical "greats" of music - Bach, Beethoven, Schumann, Chopin.

@@teodorb.p.composer I think there could be a case made for Scriabin, some of his works are tremendous, especially his earlier words
But Medtner 😭😭
cool stuff
you surely meant "excerpt", not "expert" in the description...
Grezt choices but how much of Liszt's music have you really heard? 😂😄
Not that much as you can see 😅
There is too many things to listen too, and there is a limited amount of time 😢
You should listen b minor sonata bro too much good stuffs there@@PianoConcerto-wn2ud
I like 0:44 a lot!
What piece is the theme from?
@@parisharaiit’s from « Bénédiction de Dieu dans la Solitude »

Liszt tiene demasiados temas a destacar, evidentemente, no se pueden meter todos en un top 10 mejores piezas
HR12 sounds like pathetique lol
