- Follow me as I explore the very best things to see in the south of Sweden, on a trip that takes me to the southernmost point of the country.
This trip begins in the town of Linköping in the district of Östergötland, and continues past magnificent forests, vast seas, historical monuments, and quaint old towns.
The places I visited along the way include:
- Linköping in Östergötland, with its magnificent cathedral
- Gränna in Småland, located next to the lake Vättern. Famous for hand made candies
- Brahehus in Småland, a 17th century ruin with a ridiculously nice view
- Värnamo in Småland, a town close to a wild west theme park and a National Park
- Ljungby in Småland. I have nothing to say about Ljungby...
- Helsingborg in Skåne, with its Medieval tower Kärnan and gorgeous view
- Malmö in Skåne, Sweden's third biggest city. And famous for gang violence...
- Smygehuk in Skåne, the southernmost point in Sweden
- Ales stenar in Skåne, Sweden's biggest stone ship formation from before the Viking age
- Kristianstad in Skåne, a quaint little town named after a tyrannical Danish king
- Älmhult in Småland, home of the first IKEA store in the world
- Växjö in Småland, where Carl von Linné went to the same high school as I did
- Hultsfred in Småland, previously home to Sweden's biggest open air music festival
- Vimmerby in Småland, where you can meet Pippi Longstocking and other Astrid Lindgren characters
- Söderköping, famous for its lovely canals and excellent ice cream

What a great adventure, most people I know travel 50 km away from there house and that’s there world, I guess whatever but they don’t realize what they’re missing or don’t care. The thing I absolutely love about Sweden is the history and historical buildings everywhere. Thank you for taking us along, Oh yeah I believe this is the first video I haven’t seen you have a beer. Stay safe till next time
Oh trust me I definitely had beer on that trip too 😀 But agreed! There's so much to explore just about everywhere if one just gets away from that 50 km range 😊
Thanks! You are giving us many good ideas for day trips.
Yay, happy to hear that! That was basically the idea behind the video 😊
It’s impressive that not only have you travelled to southern Europe, the Baltic countries, Africa and Asia but you have also travelled across your own country. Most people do one or the other but not both. So far I’ve learned that you like to collect fridge magnets, as do I from my travels, and beer.
Have a great day!
Haha, I guess you've learned that I'm a geek as well! But yeah I do love exploring - and I started doing even more so in Sweded during Covid actually. It was difficult to travel abroad, but there's a lot to see here as well. Cheers! :D
That was a wonderful tour through South Sweden. We really enjoyed this overview!
Thank you! :D It was great to travel around to all of these places, and discovering some new spots. And pretty lucky with the weather too!
Wow, i really need to go out more. There is so much to see, thank you for the road trip tour.
Thanks for checking it out! There's really a surprising amount of cool things to see - pretty much everywhere I'd imagine 😀
I'm really glad I found your channel.I enjoy seeing your country . I would like to visit there some day. I enjoy your personality ,you are entertaining. You seem made for being on film. 👋
Wow, thank you! :D Really appreciate hearing that - and Sweden is quite lovely. At least when it's sunny and warm :)
I've seen few photos from friend last summer vacation from this city but after watching your videos it makes me fall in love and wanted to visit too not right now but maybe soon . Greetings from Germany ..
Thank you so much for checking it out, and I'm really happy that you enjoyed it! There are some really nice spots after all :)
Cool, man! Thanks for the tour.
Thanks for tagging along for the ride :D
All those little villages and not Jönköping? It’s the most beautiful city in Sweden in terms of natural beauty and it definitely deserves a mention
I'll have to take a tour there when spring comes! I can probably make a special about Vättern come to think of it :D
We recognized some places. Thanks for sharing my friend.
Thank you mate! It really was a fun trip - hope you enjoyed the sights when you drove around too
So many sights and sounds!! I'm going to have to make a long list of places to visit when I can go to Sweden!!!
Some of those spots were truly amazing! The whole area Helsingborg - Malmö - Ales stenar was awesome :D
@@ThreeStarVagabond you’re so lucky!
Visited Vimmerby in August 2021 and let my inner child enjoy Astrid’s Warld for 2 days, visited her museum and took a tour of her childhood home! Bought several of her books including one in Swedish so I could improve my Swedish reading skills. So pleased that you visited Vimmerby and Astrid’s Warld! ❤
It's amazing how many places you've visited! Really happy that you visited Vimmerby - it's not so common among non-Swedish people to go there :D Lovely place!
@@ThreeStarVagabond I guess that I'm a geek too!
@@brigidspencer5123 Go geeks! :D
To your american viewers we might add that the far south of Sweden, Smygehuk, is on the same latitude as Ketchikan, Alaska. My guess is that there are plenty of people over there who did not know about that.
Edit: The whole of Sweden roughly corresponds to the latitudes of Alaska.
Like me for example! Haha, I just had to double check it because it sounded pretty extreme. But oh yes indeed. I'm really happy for the Gulf Stream now.
Great tour through south of Sweden 🙂
Thank you! Quite a bit away from you guys :D
Nice. Beautiful country
Thank you! It really is :D
I've been to the air force museum 3 or 4 times. It's great. Also. Old Linköping about as many times. Glad I don't speak Swedish so I can't complain about the accent. But, we know about that in the U.S. Been to Gränna a few times too. Wish I could travel with you, not been around those areas enough. I wrote this before seeing the end of the video so I feel a bit better that I've visited a few more places you were at. :)
Nice! I'm a bit embarrassed since I lived in Linköping 10 years or so, but I never visited the museum once... Haha, the "Östgöta"-accent is really quite horrible. But "Skåne"-dialect is even worse. Hey, nice to hear that you visited some of the other spots! Which places did you visit aside from Linköping? Söderköping I guess?
I am so overwhelmed by all the amazing things to do in South Sweden! Couldn't even pick a top 5 to see because you just gotta do it all! HAHA. It's too bad that after all that you didn't treat yourself to ICE CREAM! HAHA.
Haha I was so bitter about the ice cream! But the trip was awesome anyway - so much fun, and so many new exciting things to see. Even for me who live here!
Cool vlog buddy
Thank you! :D Appreciate it!
Hi thank you for that trip i want to come to Sweden and I want to exploring more place even though Norway as well I want to stay there in Sweden very nice country when it s come to nature you should come to visit New Zealand is similar to Sweden you welcome I’m sure you will be interested to come to New Zealand and discovering it you are very good person I like vlog
Oh man, I would love to visit NZ! It's definitely on the to-visit list. It's just a bit far to get down there from Sweden. I was in Sydney once and it took me more than 24 hours to get there... But thank you so much! Really happy that you like my little videos from the cold north :D
Omg the place there so beautiful 😍great sharing 🤍
Thank you! 😀 I really enjoyed travelling around the place like this!
You looked so happy on your thumbnail! I just had to click 😆
Haha! I thought it was such a funny shot - and apparently it worked! Maybe I'm learning something about these thumbnail thingies :D
Headed to Sweden tomorrow. We're going to drive from Odense to Copenhagen, Denmark, coming into Malmo, then drive the southern coast up to Stockholm. What do you think of Gotland?
Great video and thank you!
Thank you, and that sounds like an awesome trip! Oh, I absolutely love Gotland but I think I'd want a couple of days there at least. Öland is also a nice island to visit, close to Kalmar. That one you could probably do in one day while passing by.
jaha kommer det en egen film om Blekinge då? ;)
Jag gjorde en om Karlskrona och lite andra ställen åtminstone nyligen 😀
which area is best for a family life near Malmö?
Oof, I don't really know. I don't look for good family life places so I'm not sure :/
@@ThreeStarVagabond ok ❤️
Wonderful video. Sweden is beautiful. I got a little moved when you visited Växjö. And yes, Växjö Lakers is the stupidest name ever. Go Tingsryd Go!!!
Haha, Tingsryd AIF... Well, a bit better at least I guess! :D Thanks! It was so much fun, and of course I had to pass by Växjö. There's really a lot to see around there...more than I realized back in ye olden days.
Little tip, the music is to loud!
Got it, thanks! I think I was mixing a bit crap - the later videos should be better ^^
@@ThreeStarVagabond love to see them in the future :)
Too much empty talk, music too loud
Any suggestions what you'd consider less empty talk?
@@ThreeStarVagabond minute 3.
Why did I stop here? Just to get gas...🙉
@@curiousmind3710 Haha good point! I thought it would be a funny interlude, but I get your point. Duly noted for the future!
