    thank you, Sir, for brief explanations I have seen lot of lectures, but nobody gives me clear concept like you. Now I have clear concept of Rhumb line and great circle. in Mercator Projection Rhumb line can be seen as Straight line but actually it is a spiral that's why people confuse about shortest distance concept.

    The reason for the tilt of earth is because earth has been rotating around the sun for millions of years in the same direction...it's a simple theory behind that.... If we run around an object.. Our angle also will be changed due to the same direction and speed

    Hi Sir. I have a question. When earth is compressed along the Poles as compared to the Equators, how can the Circle along the Poles be the greatest circle. Isn't it always should be along Equatorial points?

    • @blueskiesandtailwinds6004
      @blueskiesandtailwinds6004  2 года назад +1

      This is a really good question.
      So,If you look at the properties of a great circle, you will see that a great circle is such whose diameter is equal to the diameter of the sphere and if you look at the earth's diameter along the poles (which is obviously not same as the equatorial diameter), it is still equal to the diameter of the great circle that is passing through both the poles.
      So here the length of diameter is not important, the fact that the great circle's diameter is equal to the earth's diameter along that axis should be sufficient to call it a great circle.
      Hope this explanation helps!

    Hi, can you explain this pls? 90 degrees angle between equator and pole. So 1 degree = 60nm. Therefore 90 x 60 = 5400nm between equator and poles? But we have it as 6865nm. Hope you can help?
