Elon Musk’s X might soon start blocking links in replies

Elon Musk's platform X (formerly Twitter) is testing a new feature to block links in replies, aiming to reduce spam and combat bots. Independent app researcher Nima Owji shared a screenshot showing users will need to check a box to disable links in their posts. Christopher Stanley, senior director for security engineering at X, confirmed his team developed the feature but didn't specify if it will be limited to Premium subscribers or available to all users.
This feature aims to curb spam links redirecting to adult sites and scams. While it can prevent sharing questionable content, it might also hinder users from citing legitimate sources to counter misinformation.
Recently, X announced making likes private and is reportedly working on a RUclips-like dislike button to allow downvoting posts and replies.
