I was so mad that the author had this character killed off at the end. After that entire struggle to get topside, only to fail the Gmans employment process, he decides to let them die in the nuclear blast. Really makes you wonder what Gmans qualifications are. What did the other candidates have that this one didn't?
control. Gman lost control on candidate 12. He isnt suitable because he doesnt serve his purpose. Freeman are an unwilling pawn but he never question why is he doing what he does. He just does it, an excellent weapon. For both Gman and the Vortigaunt.
@@Iwanwahid1969 correction "she" she is candidate 12....the mother of Alyxa Vance and the wife of Eli, in all of the games (specifically HL2 series) it was never explained how Eli's wife never escaped or died in black mesa so i bet this whole mode serves as an explanation for it.
The other candidates were Alyx Vance, Gordon Freeman, and Adrian Shephard. Gordon showed extreme dedication to his goal, before defying the G-Man with the help of the vortigaunts in Episode 1, making him desirable by his employers. Alyx showed extreme persistence in her mission to save her father and unleash whatever the Combine held in the Vault, proving herself useful, and as well as proving G-Man's investment to save her from Black Mesa a good one. Adrian however, was never meant to be a hire. In fact, G-Man's employers even said to just let Shephard die, but because G-Man was so impressed with Adrian's ability to "adapt and survive against all odds" as "they rather remind him of himself", so they compromised to keep him locked in stasis so that he couldn't tell anyone what had truly happened, a place where he can do no harm, and where no possible harm could come to him.
@@maxruble5433 Yeah he can bend time to his will and pretty much peer into the future at any time so I doubt he'd allow it. That's why he arrested Adrian after all.
It really seems like the mod plays to how we remember Half-Life rather than the specifics of it, as Gordon's Worst Day on the Job even though it was almost 3 days long. Ultimately I think it's better for it with the tone it creates and how it completely recreates Black Mesa in a way that feels very right to the spirit of the place, but is architecturally entirely different. The nighttime nuke scene is so haunting. I think that one day approach fits if you put it with how the mod is framed in the menus, as an interview performance for G-Man. G-Man does not care about the protag to the point that he did not even record their name and you do not learn anything about your protagonist as a person, and with his space and time warping he may not even care what time it actually was beyond the start as a formality. To him this is just another day on the job, so it starts at day and goes to night when his job is done, and you were done.
I like the implication that the player character is actually Eli's wife. It would definitely be in line with G-man's fuckery to do this.
It's not, the player character is a man since NPCs refer to him as sir and he gets chastised at the beginning if he goes into the womens bathroom.
@@RandomGuy-sm5by damn
@@RandomGuy-sm5by wait hold on, where and when? I didn't note any chastising when going in&out of women's bathrooms.

So that's what happens if you don't deactivate the nuke in Opposing Force, well, I regret nothing.
If you turn it off, The G-man turns it back on anyway. You can see him through a window.

the nuke was day time tho

Just because Adrian Shepard perceived it as day does not mean that it was really day time. At that point he was under the G-Man's control.

The use of lowdef models seem so unfitting given the quality of Echoes' aesthetics with the level design.
It has HD models, I'm guessing this guy just chosed Low Definition models for some reason.
