This defined the modern era for Eurovision
Lordi defined modern era. Before them half of the songs were legit operas. Respect the facts. Once again, ESC should be grateful to Finland for switching things up.
I'd argue Fairytale alongside Euphoria helped define the modern era for Eurovision, since 2007 and 2008 were still very 2000's Eurovision in terms of almost everything. @@oonanas6507
@@oonanas6507No it was Loreen.
@@hmniam5827 yeeh nah. She’d have never even participated the first time, had Lordi not renewed the whole competition. So again, respect the facts. Don’t just make them up
@@oonanas6507 You know absolutely nothing about Eurovision if you think Lordi changed it for good. Loreen’s competition was literally the Russian grannies.
Very interesting that you noticed: her face is not very visible in the performance. Loreen insisted on this. Her production team was convinced this would hurt her chances badly but she insisted on keeping it that way. And she was right! It was so effective.
Right, the performances in Eurovision were becoming more and more extravagant and extreme, and she wanted to do the opposite. No fancy dress, barefoot. Only her on stage. Barely any lighting. Of course, in the finished product it starts to snow at one point, and then there is the acrobatic dancer who appears out of nowhere at the end, but still very minimalistic compared to everything else, which helped her stand out.
She even had to fight for the snow. The German crew wanted it gone. But Loreen stood her ground and won the fight
@@Denis-89wdym the german crew wanted it gone? what did they have to do with it anyway
@@apkmosda because the German team that did the ESC in 2011 also did the Baku one. And they told Loreen snow could not be managed.
@@Denis-89 that’s so stupid. I’m glad she managed to have snow in the end it took performance to a whole another level
She's the mother of spiritual pop. She didn't changed the game but she created the game. She is a LEGEND.
Euphoria was one the songs that did get played in clubs all over the world
A couple of years ago Loreen took part in this reality show where a group of famous people sail across the Atlantic. When they reached the Caribbean she was longing for a soda after weeks at sea and went to this tiny little shop in the harbour on this small island. She stepped inside and stopped right there, because the song playing in the store was... Euphoria. The cashier recognized her too, which she found very surprising.
So yeah, it was played in all corners of the world.
Never heard Euphoria in club. At the time I went clubbing a lot and never heard it. I only heard it when I restarted seeing Eurovision. I still never heard it outside Eurovision RUclips. Not in a club, not in the radio. And now is one of my favorites.
@@swedishmeatball4382do you know by any chance what the reality show is called? i can’t find it anywhere and i really wanna see loreen recognizing euphoria at that store 😭
@@apkmosda I think it is Över Atlanten (on Swedish Kanal 5).
I haven't seen the show myself, and I don't think this was ever broadcast; it happened on her free time during the filming if I understood her correctly. But I might have missed something. And if it did happen without cameras present and right as they had hit the harbour it indicated that it wasn't staged; I think she's smart enough to realize when things are staged and then it would be a non-story.
@@swedishmeatball4382 thank you i found it. i supposed that wasn’t caught on camera but its still really interesting
This is THE modern Eurovision song everyone knows in Europe. No matter what country you go to, she actually helped Eurovision get current again because it had been quite some time since a Eurovision song smashed that hard all over Europe.
Not really. I lived all my life in Europe and never heard this song outside Eurovision. Not on the radio, clubs.
Still one of my favorites but it was popular only in some countries in Europe.
@@samuelgordino Where in Europe did you live? You sound Italian and they started caring about Eurovision after Maneskin won so it doesn't count.
@@stateofdreaming Portugal but I have family all over Europe and they also didn't know it.
Honestly, this is much better song than tattoo.
you are clearly full of crap and/or horrifically mistaken. Tattoo has blown Euphoria out of the water on Spotify ALONE (already nearly 100M more views thatn Euphoria - which has had 11 years to amass them). And that's jut ONE platform.
Definitely. Tattoo was almost a disappointment. And I hate to admit that. 😅
Well OBVIOUSLY... NOTHING can touch Euphoria because its THAT masterpiece. Tattoo is under the same genre of "spiritual pop".
YES
This performance changed the game and proved that a strong enough song did not need crazy stage shenanigans to be a contender in the modern era. It could be artsy, it could be personal, it could be minimalistic. And coming off the back of Azerbaijan's win in 2011, which was 100% a rigged result, it was a breath of fresh air in terms of sheer quality.
I clearly remember this being such a contrast to all other participants with the mysterious lighting and the dance moves. You didn’t want to miss a second of it. It really stood out.
This song was number 1 for almost 11 years in the Radio ESC * untill Slomo by Chanel overtake last year
What is "Radio ESC *"?
@@PainocusESCRadio is an online radio with Eurovision content. All Eurovision songs, National final songs etc… they have a contest at the end of the year with the 250 most popular Eurovision songs.

The chokehold this song had on me 😮 I was entranced by this performance and must have watched it a thousand times. After 30 seconds in KNEW this song would win. How could it not?? The whole of europe was mind blown!
Please do the 2021 Eurovision - one of the strongest years
5. Ukraine - Go_A: "Shum"
4 Iceland - Daði Freyr & Gagnamagnið: "10 Years"
3 Switzerland - Gjon's Tears: "Tout l'univers"
2 France - Barbara Pravi: "Voilà"
1 Italy - Måneskin: "Zitti e buoni"
+++ please
It's ok list, nothing special in my opinion.

yes please!
yess the best year
I loved this song and voted for Loreen😍
My favourite song by her is “My heart is refusing me”😍
The Melfest version. The album version I don´t like.
@@peterjohn5544imo the album version was produced better, sounds more edm
In Sweden we can learn to play instrument(s) in school, after regular classes, from 8-9 years old for almost free and also lend instruments. That's said to be one of tve reasons that we are so good at music.
Loreen's background is from Morocco (both her parents come from there). You can see both her countries in both songs that won. I'd say Euphoria has Sweden, darkness and snow. While Tatoo has the scorching sun and sand from Morocco.
Her yin and Yang basically
OOOOOHHHH that is veeeery good point
The performance that changed eurovision forever
yea you have definitely heard this at the club during 2012, it was everywhere!
Here in Sweden it remains a Eurovision legend 💃😄
One of the Eurovision masterpieces honestly.
This song really changed Eurovision, made it more modern and mainstream plus this song was a huge hit here and ive heard this was also played in the US
Australia too
Euphoria is widely regarded as the greatest Eurovision song, probably rightly so. It's one of the few post 2000 songs to go beyond Eurovision on a very large scale.
A CLASSIC! forever my favorite eurovision song ❤
This was THE banger of the 2010's here in sweden. Every club and party you heard this song at least 3 times until dawn.
I’m gonna go ahead and join in recommending Shum by Go_A (Ukraine 2021). Amazing band, I saw them live this week and it was absolutely magical!
and the singer has only half of her lung left - amazing singer
Absolutely! Total and irresistible banger ❤❤
Celine Dion week please and thank you. 😅
''Euphoria was the moonlight and Tattoo is the sunlight'' Loreen about her two winning songs. I am so proud over her ❤🔥
I want to recommend ”Love love peace peace”, a song from a Eurovision show hosted by Sweden, about how to write a winning Eurovision song.
But it is best to watch if having seen many Eurovision winners, since they make lots of references to them.
Please 😭 We an need Aaliyah week please
1- Are You That Somebody
2- One In A Million
3- Try Again
4- Rock The Boat
5- More Than A Woman
This song became the Eurovision anthem since 2012, and btw, a very small part of Azerbaijan is actually in Europe.
This was a fun week we need more Eurovision and Celine Dion week please.
Loreen really is "Mrs Eurovision" I think (well, "Queen Loreen" as many people call her!), although a lot of people are still very salty about her beating the people's favourite, Käärijä, this year. But Euphoria is a great song, she's an amazing performer, and of course she has won twice, so the love people have for her is well-deserved.
Kaarija had the heat of the moment, with charisma and a catchy song, which is a great combination. However Loreen is a true class winner, really talented and that will age well as a second time winner.
It's so exciting to see you guys exploring this contest. I've been watching Eurovision for almost 20 years. I love it not only because of great talents representing their countries through music, language, cultural elements, it's also about family gathering and unity (as at home and globally as well).
First 5 most memorable perfomances that came to my mind are
maNga - We could be the same (Turkey, 2010)
Kate Miller-Heidke - Zero Gravity (Australia, 2019)
Mahmood - Soldi (Italy, 2019)
Hatari - Hatrið mun sigra (Iceland, 2019)
Go_A - Shum (Ukraine, 2021)
They're all some sort of unique and definetly worth to be checked. Thanks for your reactions, ❤from Ukraine!
I LOVE Shum. Love it. First time I ever voted for a song. Love from Finland!
Your reactions are on point. Can you kindly give us a Brandy week?
1- The Boy is Mine
2- Full Moon
3- What About Us
4- Put It Down
5- Baby
Fun facts about euphoria eurovision performance
-When Loreen was performing euphoria during jury rehearsal (rehearsal where juries decide their score 24 hours before the grand final. The jury score is 50% of the overall score) loreen choked on the fake snowflake that got into her mouth and had to cough it out. Because of this she missed 2 words of the song. Thankfully, juries haven't brought her score down for this small mistake and she still won the jury score
-during eurovision week loreen had pissed off Azerbaijan president because she said that everyday human rights or women rights (can't remember was it human or women right) are being broken there everyday. He and his government were demanding to disqualify loreen but svt (swedish broadcaster that does eurovision) and swedish government defended her and in the end she wasn't disqualified
As an Azerbaijani woman I can say that women rights are more powerful than men’s in here. So we don’t have problems like it’s described.
@@aytanzeynalova6493I dont live there, but rights are never equal in a general sense. Sexism exists and it is real.
@@nahuelasis7588 Sexisim exists in every country right now. Even at the most developed, democratic countries. At least its rate is low at my country. As a working, business woman I feel safe here.
Please ❤ Janet Jackson week 2:
1- Rhythm Nation
2- Love Will Never Do (Without You)
3- Doesn’t Really Matter
4- Pleasure Principle
5- Together Again (Deeper Remix)
Can we please get a random 2000s week? I miss them.
1. Nelly - Hot in Herre
2- Santana ft Michelle Branch - The Game of Love
3- Pink - Trouble
4- Sugababes - Stronger
5- No Doubt - Hella Good
I love The Game of Love and Stronger! Great list!
Celine week soon? 😂
Really enjoying reliving my own Eurovision reactions by watching yours! You get it! This song is an absolute banger it really hits me in the feels
MORE Eurovision! 🎉
This is pure quality! Best of the Best entries from Sweden. ❤❤
She changed Eurovision 🥰

Ok, but bonus round of Eurovision: Love Love Peace Peace
And all of the songs (ja ja ding dong!) From the Eurovision movie...
These are not actual Eurovision songs, they're... Loving parody. I think you'll really be able to appreciate them by now 😂
This!
I realized I didn't make a top 5 for you so here goes:
1. Love Love Peace Peace
2. Husavik (either the movie clip or the Oscars performance, both are good... Just, the Oscars performance you can see the actual singer)
3. Ja ja ding Dong
4. Lion of Love
5. Double Trouble
The 1st one was from when Sweden hosted Eurovision in 2016. The latter 4 are from the 2020 Netflix movie Eurovision Song Contest: Fire Saga (starring... Well, you'll see). It was supposed to be released when Eurovision took place, and parts of it were even filmed during the 2019 Eurovision. But then the pandemic happened, Eurovision was cancelled... But we still got Eurovision the movie, lol
Lion of love should be higher. This version: ruclips.net/video/JezQBoxX-pg/видео.htmlsi=n6wAb2mZUQBsQTho
For being a secondary character Alexander Lemtov really stole the show.@@dorisveeken5354
It's dark and cold here in Sweden half a year. We need to do something with our lives to not get depressed ;) So we sing, play music and invent stuff!
Without a doubt euphoria is the greatest eurovision song ever. It changed the eurovision to the new better era and brought level of songs to tge higher level
the guy to right --> cuuutiepie 🤩
Joe truly is a stunner
This introduced Eurovision to the 21st century… it still gives me goosebumps
Following year eurovision was in Sweden and this song was an opening act. Definitely worth to see
By eurofans she's called Queen of Eurovision or Mother.👑 This performace changed Eurovision forever. She's just amazing not only as artist, but as a person. So polite, respectful and kind. It's really sad what happened after her win with Tattoo. Like i get it your favorite( Käärijä, he was my n1 too btw💚🖤) didn't win, but if there is one person in this universe that just don't deserve hate... It is Loreen. 🙁hate jury not her. Anyway love reaction🥰
Unfortunately, any critique on jury's work was perceived by Tattoo fans as hate on Loreen, at least in the following weeks after her win.
(I know it from experience 🤷♂)
This song is considered the song of Eurovision. Especially of modern Eurovision.
You should react to songs from Melodifestivalen!!! It’s the Swedish national final for Eurovision. The Swedes know pop music!
Azerbaijan is indeed in Europe, at least has some parts in Europe. Armenia, Israel, Cyprus and Australia are the only geogrophically non-European countries which still compete at Eurovision.
Her first performance in MF delt. is always the best one both 2012 and 2023.
Just 2 months before the pre-esc mess starts haha. You´re in for a RIDE. Expect the best, the worst, the gorgeous, the ugly and everything other adjective you can think of.
You've already reacted to Kaarija and Verka Serduchka, two of the most out there but loved Eurovision songs, here are five more:
Lordi - Hard Rock Hallelujah (Finland 2006)
Go_A - Shum (Ukraine 2021)
Hatari - Hatrið mun sigra (Iceland 2019) - watch the semifinal version, the final has issues.
Sunstroke Project & Olia Tira - Run Away (Moldova 2010)
Zdob şi Zdub & Advahov Brothers - Trenulețul (Moldova 2022)
Exquisite list 👌
Super good list!!
yesss hope they’ll choose this!!
Please do more Eurovision! 😮
Well. I did and do love the song. Your reaction i love even more. So good. Thank you
The best Eurovision song for me
If you decide to do more Eurovision I'd definitely recommend looking at Australia's entry from 2019 (Kate Miller-Heidke, "Zero Gravity"). The song itself was a bit divisive, but the staging is impeccable
Its still such a bop
It's so good ❤
Hey Guys. Johnny Logan is a 3 time winner. 1980 as singer, 1987 as singer and songwriter and 1992 as songwriter with Linda Martin as singer. BTW Sweden hosting 2024 which is the 50th anniversary of ABBA’s win. I’m sure there’ll be a big tribute on the night.
Well done on the latent geography knowledge!
The song that changed the contest and she is a Queen best voice ever !
Queen Loreen is the Queen of Eurovision 👑👸🏻
You should maybe do a french week because when I see you two I gotta think of the Eiffel Tower 🤪
Completely changed the trajectory of the contest and what was required to win
You should react to her 2017 entry called “Statements” from Melodifestivalen, she tried to represent Sweden with but didn’t make it to eurovision, it’s really different from this and so cool!
There's Loreen, a few seats are empty, then the rest of the artists. She is the QUEEN of Eurovision and nobody can change my opinion.
I have a new list for you: top 5 Balkan Eurovision songs. My list ist:
1. Kaliopi - Black and White
2. Hari Mata Hari - Lejla
3. Doris Dragović - Marija Magdalena
4. Konstrakta - In corpore sano
5. Baby Lasagna - rim tim tagi dim
The last two are well known, you can take "Marija Šerifović - Molitva" instead or "Let3 -Mama ŠČ".
LOREEN will NEVER be touched and WILL NEVER be surpassed til the end of time.
This is magnificent , but Tattoo is just my fav
Not to make stereotypical jokes about US Americans' dubious relationship with geography, but Azerbaijan is in both Europe and Asia along with other countries in Caucasus. Hello from Baku lol
Celine Week ❤
1- My Heart Will Go On
2- The Power of Love
3- A New Day Has Come
4- I Drove All Night
5- Tell Him
Azerbaijan is divided in East-Europe and West-Asia. So a part is in Europe as a continent. But is not a member of the EU (european union) ;)
Speaking of the American dream, can we have an “American song contest” week? Having seen some examples of how the Europeans have done it, what can the Americans do? Here was a taste of what won the competition back in May of 2022, the only time NBC tried to recreated Eurovision in the US with Snoop Dog and Kelly Clarkson as the presenters: 5. A bit of Both - Allen Stone (Washington), 4. Mr. Independent - Grant Knoche (Texas), 3. Sparrow - Jordan Smith (Kentucky)(previous winner of The Voice), 2. Feel the love - Riker Lynch (Colorado)(brother of Ross Lynch), and lastly the winner 1. Wonderland - AleXa (Oklahoma)… (My personal winner was between Allen Stone and AleXa.) What will you think? We’ll see! 😂
In the semi-final she swallowed one of the falling snowflakes and coughed in the middle of the song. It was funny
maybe someone should make them a list wwith top 5 for each country to react to
You will probably miss my comment but since you are great reactors and open to all genres I would like you to make a Helene Fischer week. This is an incredible and versatile German singer which is very popular in her country and known as the schlager queen of Europe. Very entertaining and many videos of her featuring all kind of artists.
Pls do a 2015 eurovision reaction.
1. Serbia
2. Italy
3. Sweden
4. Montenegro
5. Latvia
Nobody compares to Loreen. You should react to her entry in 2017 in melodifestivalen "Statements", she didn't even qualify for the final...
Their secret is no wars since 1800s 😹 They don't gave that burden we've had for decades and made our music sad too. But we are starting to have fun finally 🇫🇮🥳😹
As a Turkish person I subscribed to your channel couple weeks ago. I really love to watch your eurovision reaction videos.
I just want to recommend you for react Turkish eurovision top 5 ! This song contest was always considered important for Turkey.
Turkey was one of the strongest country in eurovision at the begining of 20’s. But After that 2012 we withdraw from the competition because of political reason. Our government show the unfair voting system as a reason but All we know that the reason is homophobe for the queer people.
I’m sure that if you react to turkish songs your wiews will be so high. That’s why I want to recommend to you some songs for reaction.
Here are the songs:
1- Sertab Erener: Every way that i can ( winner of 2003)
2- Athena: For real ( 4th of 2004 )
3- Hadise: Dum Tek Tek ( 4th of 2009 )
4- Manga: We could be the same ( 2. Of 2010 )
5- Şebnem Paker: Dinle (2nd of 1997)
And also the other succesful songs of 20’s
1- Kenan Dogulu- Shake it Up Sekerim ( 4th of 2007 )
2- mor ve Ötesi- Deli (7th of 2008)
You should watch Melodifestivalen sometime. It is the Swedish competition that decides who we send to Eurovision and it lasts for 6 weeks. That's how big of a deal it is in Sweden.
This week was very interesting. Can we get a Brandy week anytime soon?
Omg, I´d die.

Google is an American company, but they still don't know where anywhere is.
Azerbaijan is on border between Europe and, Asia with small parts of the country being in Europe, it's the same with Georgia. The entire Caucasus region is a bit of a Grey zone between Europe and Asia, with Armenia being often being seen as European, despite being 100% in Asia according to the most common definitions.
For the Eurovision Song Contest, more important than any geographical definition of Europe is the European broadcasting area, as only broadcasters in this area, can join the European Broadcasting Union, and every active EBU member is allowed to compete. This includes every country, that is even partially in Europe except Kazakhstan, but also all other states bordering the Mediterranean, as well as Armenia, Azerbaijan, Iraq, Jordan and even a small part of Saudi Arabia. (This doesn't mean, that all of those are EBU members, just that they geographically could be.) This explains, how Israel, Armenia and Morocco have participated in the ESC.
The only one left is Australia, who, as a associate of the EBU, has to be invited to participate, their last invite lasted until 2023, so let's see, if they get a new invite.
We need a Lana Del Rey Week 2! Please!!
5: Born To Die
4: West Coast
3: Summer Wine
2: Chemtrails Over The Country Club
1: Norman F***ing Rockwell!
I noticed all your reactions include a music video/live performance… I wish you both can listen to her song called “Let The Light In” (feat. Father John Misty) - but it doesn’t have a mv. It’s such a banger - and nostalgic at the same time. This song would be my number one choice - hands down.
Mother Eurovision
If you are interested in Eurovision, Geography Now have made an video about it. It's not all accurate, but it gives you an insight in the voting system and how it has changed through the years and some other rules etc. A guide to Eurovision done by an American 😁
Turkey, Russia, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan.. Are all "transcontinental countries".. So they are BOTH geographically in Europe and Asia. The border being the Causcasus mountains and Ural Mountains and Ural River basin. But they are all (except for Kazakhstan which is more "Central Asian").. more aligned and closer tied culturally and for a longer time with Europe and they are also more in the socio-economic sphere of Europe because of sheer Geographic position and trade routes. Georgia is probably the next country in line to join the EU for example.
Egypt is also a Transcontinental country too but being part of Africa and Asia..
Where is number #3?
I wish she had represented Sweden with the song Statements but she didn't win Mello. That's was so sad.
Honestly, Eurovision isn't Europe specifically, so much as it's the European Broadcasting Union. Which is why Australia is in it.
Guys, could you consider in the next video the song Ruslana - Wild Dances. Winner of Eurovision 2004.
Actually Azerbajdzjan is both located in Asia and Europe. The country is mostly located in Asia but a part of the country is located in Europe as well.
Pretty please do Eurovision week #4, the fun mix!
1: Eurovision 2019 grand final, Iceland, hatari, Hatrið mun sigra
2: Eurovision 2018 grand final, Israel, netta, toy.
3: Eurovision 2006 grand final, Finland, Lordi, Hard Rock Hallelujah
4: Eurovision 2014 grand final, Austria, Conchita Wurst, rise like a phoenix
5: Eurovision 2022 semi final, Georgia, circus mircus, lock me in.
2012.......Albania had the best voice. Song "Suus" performed by Rona Nishliu.
What happened to Wednesday's video? There's Tuesday's Volare, then Thursday's What's another year. What song was reviewed between them?
I think it was ABBA 'Waterloo' but it was blocked for copyright reasons.
There were so many great entries in this year but Euphoria was always gonna win. It had pretty much won before the show started, people wouldn't stop bringing it up in the songs prior.
I'm SO surprised Pokusaj - Laka isn't one you did. You will trip out watching that. It's actually a great tune though.
You should definitely check out Sweden's national finals for Eurovision called Melodifestivalen, every year it's just bop after bop after bop :)
I highly recommend Eric Saade - "Every Minute" or Dotter "Bulletproof". They'll blow you away and were 2nd place.
