Delayed Release on the CDJ-3000 First Look Video! Oregon fires derailed us at launch. What do you think of the new CDJ-3000?

Pioneer CMX-5000 allows DJs to scratch. One year before cdj-1000 ;))

Well it had a scratch fonction but the jog wasn't touch sensitive so you couldn't really scratch on it

CDJ-1000 was the first player to enable DJs to scratch CDs that sounded similar to a vinyl record scratch - that was in 2001. CMX-5000 and CMX-3000 were dual deck CD players. CMX-5000 came first - and had a great auto-mix function, but the scratch function wasn't anything close. The jog wheels were not touch sensitive. CMX-3000 followed the CMX-5000 in 2002 and had a 'better' scratch function than the CMX-5000 (auto-mix wasn't as cool), but still nothing like the CDJ-1000. For a CD Player that can scratch (and sound like vinyl), the CDJ-1000 was the OG - and they were AWESOME.

@@agiprodj and they still great. It's funny how USB-ready player, big LCD screen and Rekordbox can hype the price...look at CDJ 800 and CDJ 850 - almost the same, but 850 has USB and few cosmetic updates..+ price 500%

To be honest I was disappointed, the cue points are at one of the worst place possible and on top of that the price is way too high especially considering the competition. Denon offer a player with way more fonctions, with dual layers and for cheaper.

We hear you. We've bumped cue buttons on DDJs, the new Denon Prime decks and the CDJ-3000. I don't think Pioneer could win - if they put them below the jog wheel, everyone would accused them of biting Denon, right? There's a ton of value in the new Denon Prime decks - no argument there. We don't think Pioneer could deviate too far away from the CDJ-2000 gold standard. The CDJ-2000 is on just about every rider out there for festivals and large clubs. The CDJ-3000 has to feel close to home but still have next-gen improvements. Using rekordbox, they are really awesome with pro DJ link overview features. The display is sweet and they are quick. The jog wheel upgrade is a major upgrade over the mechanical jog wheel standard set on the CDJ-1000 years ago.

okay but have you tried both players and can compare the two or are just reading specs?

@@dominickd16 I haven’t tried the CDJ-3000. Yes, I’m sure the feel and build quality is amazing but it doesn’t excuse the difference in price and features.

At first, I also thought the placement of the cue buttons would be awkward but now that I actually bought a pair of CDJs, I conclude the placement is actually super convenient and imo better than on the Denons. One of the benefits I experienced is that it is visually very nice to have the cue buttons close to the screen with the buttons nicely aligned to the cue markers on the lower waveform. There is so much space between the platter and the cue buttons that accidentally touching the platter really is a none-issue (at least, I’ve never ran into this).
