A lot of people don't know is that the Ram 1500 crew cab interior is bigger than the Ram 2500 crew cab... The Ram 2500 still uses the old cab from the previous generation but just upgraded the interior. The Ram 1500 uses a totally new cab. Only the mega cab has a larger interior.
I have a 2018 F-250 and it doesn’t really downshift like a gasoline engine truck when I mash the accelerator. However I fell like it doesn’t even need to downshift because it pulls like crazy in whatever gear it’s in.
Can definitely see the effort being made to mix up your format but, for me personally, it felt a bit drawn out during the interior section. Some people will love that though I'm sure. Best of luck in 2020 bud 👍
@@MattMaranMotoring oh really, interesting. The difference was probably the fact it was a truck. Felt a lot more in-depth than a lot of the previous ones.
One suggestion with the transmission. When you commented on the shifts. You should have put it in towhual mode and see if there's a difference. Love your channel been watching since you first bought the bra! 🤘😀
You forgot the in floor storage bins in the rear. I've been "building" 1500 and 2500 Rams on their website and I get a different price every time, even though I select the same options. Speaking of options, I hate how you can't get certain things unless you get a certain package. Examples: You can't get the power running boards unless you get Level 2. You can't get two tone interior with a Sport Appearance package. If you want the Adaptive Cruise, you need to get Level 2 Equipment Group. Level 2 costs $4,000 and only adds heated rear seats, wireless charging and the HK audio over the $1600 Level 1 package. Want tow hooks? You need to get them with a transfer case skid plate. Want the Snow Chief Group? That includes trans. case skid plate. Are you paying twice for the skid plate?
The transmission tuning has always been an issue with the late model Cummins Rams, most look to tuners for better transmission tuning. I own one and it was a great review!
I never actually seen any real issues with the 68RFE in later model Rams, just a lot of complaints from tweetie birdies. I actually think it's a really good transmission.
Chris - the transmission lugs and hesitates to downshift, it has low lock up pressures and the the weakest point of the truck, hence the reason tuners modify the stock perimeters.
@@brentstenslokken9258 Hesitate? Seriously, there's like only a 1,600 rpm torque window. There's no down shifting with a Cummins engine. It's all about boost. If you don't want lag and lazy shifts, get a gas engine.
@Brent Stenslokken Lockup pressures is more than adequate for the stock engine tuning. I've never, ever seen a problem with it, just with trucks that are abused or modified to hell. I don't know where you're getting that the lockup pressure is an issue. It's not. Also, it doesn't lug or hesitate at all, not unless you're towing without tow/haul. A transmission should be tuned more conservatively when it's paired with a low-rpm diesel engine because the torque is what you should lean on, not the transmission programming and higher engine RPM. You don't want a transmission shifting around as the boost hits, and you won't need it to when it does. Tuners can do whatever they want and people can say what they say, but there's no real evidence of issues with these transmissions. They're actually very strong. Again, I've never seen one break on a stock, properly maintained truck, and I'm surrounded by these transmissions in the industry I work in. The problems are the drivers not understanding that it's not race truck. It's not supposed be responsive or smooth. You're buying the wrong kind of vehicle if you're expecting quick down shifts and smooth engagement.
You forgot to flip out your tow mirrors before setting off....like every other cummins Dodge owner pulling their ghost trailer through the local mall parking lots!! 😂
Nice review Matt. Thank you. However, I found it hysterical every time you showed that tiny table completely wrapped in a blue tarp lost in the bed of a 3/4 ton, 6.4 ft heavy duty truck bed. What was the intention? To illustrate scale? Payload? I hope you were really moving the table because if not, I'm not sure it added to the rest of the great content.
My next truck but question should I get the bigger thirty five hundred with the dual lies or this one? I do like the Aisen transition that is not in this model. I want to tow a forty foot trailer. I am debating both it will be a Cummins if I get the twenty five. Now I live in Vegas so I have to get white. Which is better?
One day I'll have a diesel, although I'm partial to Chevy's. But I'm finding a lot of new vehicles have awful throttle response. I recently got a 2019 Silverado (5.3 with the 8 speed) and I love it but sometimes it takes 3-4 seconds to register that I'm hitting the pedal. It's horrendous. Aside from that though I'm enjoying truck life.(my first truck actually) I think after this lease is up a diesel will be next. 🤔 Great review as always!
Only cons: The price, anything leather and that fact that the truck is blacked out 😐😕 I do find it amazing that people who buy blacked out vehicles act "shocked" when the vehicle starts to get scratches....and the scratches are white because the same people complain that "white" is boring.

When the new Ram design was released I thought it looked good. But now I think maybe they didn’t go far enough because I already find it’s looking dated. When the 2nd Gen Ram came out in 94, it was a groundbreaking design and stayed fresh for years. This current iteration is handsome but not groundbreaking.

Matt, I think the footrest must be a car thing. I have only owned trucks my entire life, GM to be specific. I had to go look at mine and then look at pics online of my past vehicles, none of mine ever had a dedicated foot rest. Never really missed it or desired one. Been on 8-10hr straight road trips, no problem. Just kinda lay your foot there on the side is what I’ve always done. Saw you mention it in your gladiator review also. Must be a truck thing to not have one.
