Having been an apprentice, top tip for Reuben, keep a diary of where you work and what you did each day, along with tips about how stuff was done and in a few years youll look back and read what youve written and wonder at what youve learnt and how you learnt it, then when you have your own apprentice you will be able to show them youve been there before them.
Good vlog Guys.
Jordan, I like your interview of Reuben and how things are going for him in college. Its real important that he understands the theory behind what he is doing as well the practical. Reuben anticipate you are going to be asked questions like these as you progress through your apprenticeship. Its for everyone's benefit ,yours, the boss, the customers. Jordan was not trying to catch you out but treating you like the journeyman you are going to be.
Exactly this. Ye've a great boss guys. He's a gem.
Love Lee's reaction or rather lack off when Jordan went to leave. Classic👍
🤣
So nice to see a experienced tradesmen passing on his knowledge.
I love how the experienced guys on Artisan teach and mentor the young guys. This is more valuable information than you can buy and will propel them forward towards their future as highly valued men.
You're coming on fine Reuben, btw I found one of the pluses of the courses is that you make friends, often invaluble when you can bounce ideas off someone if you get stuck and there is no-one else to turn to..
Nice Lee, giving Reuben the chance to get more and more experience. The only way to learn.
One of the key differences between an RCCB and an MCB, in terms of helping Reuben understand why we use them, is that an RCCB is designed to protect you whereas an MCB is designed to protect the circuit. This is how my lecturer explained it in college. That is one of the main reasons for putting sockets on an RCCB, because it saves lives! An RCD (RCCB) is one component in a family of residual current devices but obviously the RCBO is the king as it provides every type of protection all in one device.
MCB for overcurrent, whether that be short circuiting, R1-R2 faults, surging, it’ll trip based on heat and or magnetism and will trip on different timings depends on amount of overcurrent: abs will act like a solenoid.
RCD will trip based on a in balance due to difference in current between like and earth which changes magnetic force and trips.
Only level 2 so forgive me if I’ve relayed wrong, interesting subject fuses 👍
@@DGKallDAY445 Imbalance in returning current between line and neutral, not line and earth.
@@djturbine7565 yeah meant neutral, brain fart… thank you
Hi I've been watching these Artisan when jorden was I one man band it's nice to see how his grown the company and still stayed humble great guy and now a great team
Love how they stop to explain things, because i like to understand these little things
Jordan if you haven’t already get him a stack of IET guidance manuals. Do a few set-up boards on switching, OCPD, RCD dressing a board. Upstream and downstream protection. Talk to him about selective coordination. That way you can bring him on quicker with the theory and understanding of the basics and it will help him excel at college.
Jordan seems like such a sound boss. Reuben is a legend too, so funny.
Funny difference in terms. In US we call an RCD a GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter).
I think Reuben is doing a good job! Its a lot to learn and it wil take time.
Great job Ruben keep up the good work
Sorry spelt your name wrong
One way I like to decribe the differances between a MCB and RCD is a MCB protects the cable and an RCD protects life.
A company that takes pride in there work and people 😎my kind off guys 👊🏻
Great work Reuben.
Great content learning + not leaving anything out the importance of what you are install and why ,!! And Reuben take on this first sole EV Board great job !! Question for. Reuben how did you get you Apprenticeship with Artisan Electric . Thanks Jensen ⚡️👊
Reuben is going to be a world class electrician, question for Reuben, are you taking the levels 2&3 2365 diploma route or the 4 year college apprenticeship route?
Well done Ruben. 👏👏
I've said it be6 and i will say it again 13:00 LEE is a king of tidy work.. thank you for great idea 👍
Indian worker in astraielia
Can't wait for the Artisan Five-0 episodes, surely you can get a cheeky wee sponsor? 🏖️🏄😎🌞
Great job Rubin.
Great video guys
Great job Reuben 😎
Good vlog lads,Corys son coming on well, neat little board.
Poor Reuben getting a grilling from the boss!! 🤣
Sounds like hes not learning shit at electrical college lol, i learned way more being in the field than i ever learned in school. Im a security tech and everything i have learned was self-taught or learning from guys above me. Trade colleges are a joke tbh.
Spring doesn't begin until the clocks go forward!
It's nice to see this EV charger covers up the electronics keeping them away from the electrician and the weather.
Nice work guys well done ~ although I felt sorry for the spider being evicted.
Nice job Ruben
What calculator are you using at college, Reuben?
Where does Lee get those lovely brackets for the handwipes and sealants on the back door of the van?
Great film!
I'm curious why the chargepoint is outside of the garage. Don't people park their cars inside the garage anymore? Are chargers not allowed to be indoors?
Which model of label maker do you guys use? Thanks for all the great content.
it nice too see getting apprentice iwas on yts bulid bus and carvans had too pull all the wire throw was ok that all did wish we had apprentice in stayed yts i did get job when finish got rid off you wish i had skill use love it not like doing dead end as a cleaner Question for Reuben and when you qualify hope keep you on Artisan
Can you tell me what that curved hammer drill bit was on the Makita and what its used for please ?
Good video. young man did well Question tho is it legal to run tails in the cavity I was always taught that you could only go straight thru and that you can't run tails or any cable in an outside cavity
I normally fit Hager DB with surge and they do not go thro a MCB,
I’ve fitted a few of the Fusebox boards now and it just concerns me that the surge is on a MCB which can be turned off! You know what people are like if they don’t understand what it is, they may assume it’s costing them money to have it on and possibly turn it off. What are your thoughts on a SPD on a MCB?
I remember being a apprentice and the boss coming to site and doing the same thing. Makes me feel awkward now
Do you have the details of that outside light fitting? It’s nice 👌
Did Lee have Maccies as well as the salad?
How did you find out about Artisan?
What van would you like to have?
Do you watch Adam Dunlop's channel?
anyone got tips on how to go about getting an apprenceship. I need on before applying for college in September and wondering would it be better to put my name down for the full time level 2 in college incase i don't find one before it starts?
Why use Ultra cable for the run from Sub DB to the Charger? All internal so surely Twin and Earth would have been easier?
I did level 3 in electrical installation engineering back in 2008 and haven't done anything else since in terms of work or further education I'm trying to get back into being qualified electrician but kinda stumped what I need do I just need experience working along side someone qualified if I do my 18th wiring regs or do I need further qualifations. Doing a apprenticeship just gives me the same level 3 skill I already have?
In 12:58 you hold a red tool with magnetic!Where can I find it?Is it an english company?I am from Greece so I can’t find it here…
Question for Reuben. Would you find it better to do online school or go to an actually school? to be honest i find it hard to stay motivated for online school.
“Reuben and I” is the correct Queens English.
Jordan do you know if you put in to google how to install the fire alarm system your video come up of Apollo alarmsense scout hut 9
Why are you running unprotected meter tails through a cavity wall
Question for Rueben. How do you like the day to day work as an apprentice?
One question for Reuben is what days is he doing at college and working with artisan
Informatio video.
MCB to protect circuit
RCD to protect people?
I thought it was MCB doesn't protect against electrocution as won't trip until rated current where an RCBO will as it detects a small difference anything over like 50 milliamps is potentially fatal so your general socket on a MCB 20 amps could technically kill you 400 times over. ( Not practical but you get it )
MCB protects against over current, purely there to protect the cable.
RCD protects against earth leakage, designed to protect humans/livestock etc.
Can trip at anything over 50% of their rated milliamps.
Another great video guys Question for Reuben How long is your course? and when you qualify will you stay with Artisan or what are your plans for the future?
Apprenticeship courses normally take 3/4 years. But can take longer, mine took 7 years due to a lack of assessors at the college
Artisan courses would be a good idea
i think boss man should teach 1 day at Reubens college lol
Bunch of chancers hope the nic are watching these installs feel sorry for the young apprentice
Also , your looking more and more like dad, Cory everyday.
How do you achieve discrimination if the charger has a built in Type A RCD 30mA and the RCBO in the CU is also a 30mA without time delay?
The charger doesn’t have built in 30MA protection , it has 6MA DC protection built in and the 30MA is achieved with the RCBO at the board 👍
Thanks for the info guys. In some ways I guess it's better this way so the cable can be protected (if necessary) by the RCBO at the origin without the discrimination problem 😀
Question for Ruben. Im starting my apprenticeship in 2 weeks, do you have any advice on how to learn quicker and get around any obstacles when left on your own.
how did you find it? and are you going to a college aswell like once a day in college rest at work?
Reuben who's your best apprentice Lee or Cory. 😅
Is that Anderson not centered on the wall? Or is that just a trick of the eye with camera angles and stuff?
Great job, Reuben has a bright future ahead of him, and great to see that he's really paying attention to the small details. Is Reuben planning on staying with Artisan after his apprentice, and does he have a girlfriend ;)
🌈
Handy for the client getting the apprentice rate, must of only cost about 5k 🤙
Surely I'm not the only one who saw that unprotected armored cable going straight into the main switch?!
0.11 ohms on 5m of 6mm?
Early spring its February, winter 😂😂😂
Is their any update on the wooden house lee worked on.
It burned down
@@JeffsWig No it collapsed.
Reuben nice instal , lee keep your hands on the wheel of the van . when driving .mate
😂😂😂
Yes we don't want anymore back doors being smashed in....
Great job, Reuben! You're lucky to be doing electrical where you live, instead of in the United States.
What college do you go to ?
Shout out to the editor for adding San Holo to the music tracks
How much do you guys get paid ?? If I may ask. I just wanted to know if being an electrician is good job and if it's worth it.
Question for Reuben, who talked you into becoming an electrician?
i recon his dad Cory 😃
You mean who forced him lol
Is young Oscar still part of the Artisan team? How’s he getting on if so?
Yes I wondered that.
Oscar left the team to do other work.
This is kind of Sad that reuben doesnt know this in Germany we learn about that really fast
What level are you in college?
February is defo not spring lol.
How much do you get paid to be an a apprentice?
Am I to old to be an apprentice at 77 ?? Please!,
Reuben is confident, intelligent and very quick to learn. I do wonder, however, if he'll end up working in one of the family businesses be it in property, retail or food.
What family businesses are these? His Dad's an electrician 😉
@@alanjrobertson Extended families. You're probably not old enough to remember such a thing.
Gettig more and more like Alan Partridge 😂😂😂
Have you passed your maths and English?
Tell Reuben it isn't spring in February
The state of the SWA from the meter cupboard was horrendous and typical of a new build done to a price. Surely that should’ve been picked up on your job survey and planned into the scope of works to be done correctly ie. Into an adaptable box, especially as you’re ‘Artisans’?
Unprotected meter tails in a cavity?! Absolutely no need for it as you could’ve come out of the meter box and put them in trunking. What happens if someone is drilling from the inside of the property and doesn’t realise they’re in there? There’s going to be some very brown trousers to say the least as a 100A fuse blows. Not everyone knows where cables could be in the fabric of a building
Learners watch this channel and will see this work and think it’s acceptable when clearly it isn’t. Level up as “There’s always room for improvement”
😴😴😴😴
My research says meter tails can ONLY pass directly through a wall, not inside the wall cavity. This job needs rectified.
Was anyone left with Reuben at 6:00?
Pretty sure you’re not meant to leave an apprentice without supervision. Not even for a work sake, health and safety too.
Was that actually a double pole RCBO as it didn't look like one?
It disconnects line and neutral rather than just the line being disconnected.
@@stuartarnold9444 Thanks, I know what it is, but the RCBO held up in the video didn't look like one that disconected neutral. Noramlly (but not always) they are double width.
Fusebox make single module double pole RCBOs
Thanks for the confirmation
@@CharlesAElliott The earlier taller RCBOs from Fusebox were only single pole, but the later mini RCBOs are dual pole. It's beyond me how they've managed to get so much functionality in such a small package.
Yeah Feb ain't spring, you'll be setting yourself up for disappointment for many years to come if you expect spring to arrive in Feb 😂
Also, when you said Bury, did you mean Bury up north? If so that's one hell of a drive for you isn't it??
Bury St Edmunds LOL
@@artisanelectrics was thinking, that's a hell of a drive for a quick end of day jobby haha
Cory would have plenty more time for the job if he didn't film all the eating snacks and meal breaks, but he does do good work, keep it up lads....
Ello
I’d rather watch Reuben make another 10 DB’s off than another IKEA video. 👀
Special treatment for delivery to the van
I reckon cory has had enough and is looking for a start somewhere else. He single handedly help this channel grow.
Had enough of what exactly?
@@Matt-td9wx he's had enough of damaging things lol
@@andrewuk8363 😂😂ptsd every time he sees a pipe
Bottom glands... I don't think reuben needs anymore questions after that unannounced visit lol...
Are you accly Cory's son??
Surley i get paid more fpr video ing?
I need a job please help me
The work in the meter box was so rough, makes it a mess for anyone else doing any work inside there… plus the meter tails running through the cavity isn’t great… could have made that a lot neater
