John MacArthur: CATHOLIC vs CHRISTIAN

- Dr. John MacArthur is-far and away-America’s greatest Bible teacher. In 2015, I had a burning desire to understand what the Bible really meant, however, everywhere I searched, all
I found was grossly undereducated men who called themselves “preachers” or “pastors” who were chiefly interested in:
1. Making money
2. Gaining popularity
3. Spreading a false gospel
It was quite obvious to me they had very little Biblical knowledge.
MacArthur, on the other hand, has a vast knowledge of the Bible and goes to great pains to explain it so articulately. I can honestly say that he changed the direction of my life. I am forever grateful to find such a wonderful teacher. Therefore, I’ve created this RUclips channel in order to propagate his accurate and thorough Biblical teachings.
I implore you to go directly to his website to learn more about the Word of God: www.gty.org
Here you will find a wealth of information on virtually any subject in God’s Word. You can search by scripture, Books of the Bible, or keywords.
MacArthur is not focused on making money, unlike many false Christian preachers today. You can download his sermons for FREE! Just click on this link to go directly to his sermons.

I pray that God blesses you with a deeper understanding of the Word of God!
I grew up Catholic and while I am grateful I learned about God through it, I never knew about the wonderful opportunity of having a relationship with my heavenly Father until I got saved. I began questioning the confessional and other "man made" laws taught at the church. I've been a born again believer, and true Christian for over 30 years now.
Do you have a direct line to your imaginery friend ?
@@sarahann530 we have evidence to prove our "imaginary" Friend.
Maryann, you never knew about the wonderful opportunity of having a relationship with God? Hmmm what about the Eucharist?
@@calson814 How does this relationship manifest itself ?
Confessional is not man made unless you mean made by Jesus who is a man. That sacrament is found in the Bible. Also you were born again ones you were baptized. Thats what Jesus said. Only catholics are true Christians. We follow all His teachings while protestants follow some of His teachings but also man made teachings such as sola scriptura (scripture alone). I hope one day you learn the truth and come back home my brother in Christ.
Love Dr. MacArthur's teaching. I was brought up catholic and my family is catholic, brother/family, nieces, nephews. But I am strictly forbidden to talk "religion" to them and my brother and his wife no longer speak to me last 4 years. I was 35 when I was introduced to the bible by a loving couple, at a difficult time in my life. Now 80 and have never looked back. Thank you Lord. I still pray for my family every day.

All men are sinners, remember? Jesus established the Catholic Church. Nothing else matters in that discussion. If you follow Jesus you are in his church.

You: So, time to open your Bible and read a little, huh??
Me: I teach Scripture so I am pretty sure that I have opened up my bible.
How unsurprising that you speak in the wildest generalities as if you knew what you were talking about. But I will guess that your issue is about faith vs works. Why don't you educate me by telling me what Paul meant by his term "works of the law" and confirm your definition by other sources from Paul's time.

Remember acceptance is nothing without repentance.
Jacques Cloete actually receiving the free gift of salvation, by His Grace we are saved not of works lest any man should boast. Ambushed meaning the pastor and my aunt set this up without me knowing, thank God they did.He asked me if I believe Jesus died for my sins along with other questions and did I want to receive Him as my personal Lord and savior and I did, with his hand on my head he lead me into the sinners prayer.several months later I got baptized at his church in an indoor baptismal along with about ten other people.didnt see that pastor again until many years later at my aunt's funeral,I reminded him of the incident and told him I got saved that day.ill be 58 yrs old and have since been discipled in another church and studied the Bible a lot.been on the mission field, built a building for teen challenge drug program in Jamaica. Through good and bad all these years let me say I am redeemed by the blood of the Lamb and the word of my testimony,as for repentance I have repented of a great many sins and the sanctification continues as Paul said not that I have attained it but I forget what is behind and press on for the prize.i must remind you Saul of Tarsus didn't repent and then receive Christ, his repentance came after being knocked to the ground and was struck blind and the LORD spoke to him and what he must do. It was then he made that 180 degree turn around turning from a persecutor of the Faith to probably the greatest evangelist in history, planting churches and writing 2/3 of the epistles in the New testament. So I appreciate your comment as long as you agree his repentance came after the Lord revealed Himself to Him.

Whenever a catholic argue about mary being the mother of God
Use this to defeat the argument.
Luke 8:21 But He answered and said to them, “My mother and My brothers are these who hear the word of God and do it.”
Matthew 12:46-50
46 While He was still talking to the multitudes, behold, His mother and brothers stood outside, seeking to speak with Him. 47 Then one said to Him, “Look, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, seeking to speak with You.”
48 But He answered and said to the one who told Him, “Who is My mother and who are My brothers?” 49 And He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said, “Here are My mother and My brothers! 50 For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.”.
Mark 3:35 For whoever does the will of God is My brother and My sister and mother.”

26 When Jesus therefore saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother, “Woman, behold your son!” 27 Then He said to the disciple, “Behold your mother!” And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home. @@albertobarbosa4938 The Ten Comandments. The roman Catholic church tooked out the 2nd comandment, that is ( You shall not make yourself any graven image or any likeness of anything that is in heavens ebove, nor that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: You shall not bow down yourself to them or serve them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generation of those who hates Me, but showing mercy and steadfast love to a thousand generation of those who love Me and keep My commandments ). They hide it from people, why , because their churches are full of idols, statues to worship. They are going against the 2nd commandment and divide the last commandment into two to make them ten again. Please read the bible, Exodus 20 & the new testament. I hope Johnny Mac is consistent and never asks ANYone to ever pray for him or his family.
MacArthur in this case very deliberately misrepresents the Catholic position and belief system. Is there a word for deliberately bearing false witness? Does the Bible say something about that? I can’t remember.
Ludwig Ott states clearly as the context of this statement that it’s Mary’s giving of the Redeemer, the Source of all graces, that makes her the channel of all graces. She does not create or provide it, but her consent “be it done into me according to thy word” is what makes her a channel of He who is grace Himself.

The bible is enough. You don’t need to read whatever catechism! Just read the bible. And if it’s all that you read, you would know the catechism is misleading!
If I don't pray to the apostle Paul or the apostle Peter why would I ever pray to Mary? In John 19:26 Jesus doesn't refer to Mary as mother he says to her " woman her is your son. Not once during Jesus ministry did He ever tell anyone to pray to or through Mary. Mary is not God and to pray to her is a violation of the 1st and 2nd commandment

I have been a "Catholic" for many years. I have never been taught that, "Access to the Father comes only through Mary".
Most Catholics don’t know what the Roman Catholic Church teaches. if you are praying the rosary you are praying to Mary 10 times each decade you pray. How often is your penance to pray the rosary? Most of my Roman Catholic family pray to Mary and the saints not to God. When I came to Christ and left Roman Catholicism I found I had direct access to God directly.

God specifically said we have direct access to Him in prayer. We do not need an intermediary. Hebrews says there is no mediator between God and man except the man Christ Jesus.
The wedding couple surely appreciated Mary's intercession.
Regarding why Catholics seek Mary's intercession, here are 3 cases.
=========================================================
First. At Jesus' transfiguration, Moses & Elijah were seen talking with Him. In OT, Elijah had been bodily carried to Heaven, Moses had died. When Peter volunteered to build tents, he was obviously seeing them each in bodily form. So there IS life after death.
Second. When Jesus spoke in Parables, He used fictitious figures in His teaching moments like the Prodigal Son, Father & Brother who had no names. However, in the Living Account of the Rich Man(RM) and Beggar Lazarus(BL) - Luke 16:19-31-, the historical Abraham and the BL were named while Jesus did not "care to remember '' the RM's name. In this Parable, Jesus declared that both the RM & BL had died, had been judged and assigned to their places - BL carried by Angels to Abraham's bosom, the RM sent to a place of torment. Despite being dead, there was a request for intercession by the RM to Father Abraham for his brothers. This is the second case of Life after Death, and both cases involve Jesus.
Third. Genesis 5:24 says, "Enoch walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him away."
Mary, too, walked with Jesus from His Conception, and Birth to the time of His public ministry.
Mary is superior to both Moses & Abraham. Moses committed murder and was disobedient at Meribah in the desert that disqualified him from entering the Promised Land. Abraham lied about his wife Sarah being his sister, and committed adultery with Hagar, his servant. Mary was " full of grace " with no biblical faults ascribed to her. And Mary is the mother of Jesus and thus the most excellent intercessor between us and Jesus, God & Judge ( John 5:22).
While we pray to God we also have to use human helps like doctors, farmers etc. Possessed persons and their families cannot help themselves without the aid of exorcists.
Jesus loved & honored His mother Mary and would therefore treat her better than the error-prone Moses & Abraham. Humanly speaking, we all love and " adore " our Mothers - not worship them.
========= Jesus loved perfectly and also " adored " His Mother. ========================
Jesus also commanded us to love as He loved, so Catholics love and honour Mary who is as living as Jesus, Moses & Abraham. In her varied apparitions, she calls for prayer, penance and love of her Son, Jesus. (Check the Internet for Mary's picture over a Coptic church in Zeitoun, Egypt for 3 years in 1968-71).
On Judgment Day, it will go well for Catholics who loved and honoured His Mother. Protestants will not be so blessed.
Catholics believe in a Living God for whom all people are alive, not dead.
Catholics not only believe but also are sure that Mary is alive for she has appeared in many places and at different times to many people. - By their fruits you will know them -. Mary has pointed her followers to imitate Jesus - Do whatever He tells you. In 1917, she appeared to 3 children in Fatima, Portugal and urged the following prayer - O my Jesus, forgive our sins, save us from the fires of Hell. Lead all souls to Heaven, especially those most in need of Thy mercy. - ( This is a prayer that no demon would urge ). At Fatima, she promised beforehand a miracle, and later on in the same year in October 1917 she fulfilled it which is known as The Miracle of the Sun ( you can view more info on the Internet )
She also appeared at Guadalupe, present day Mexico City - in December 1531, and converted and stopped the people from practicing child sacrifice.
( Note : At Guadalupe, Mary's photo was miraculously imprinted on the native man's Tilma - or cloak - which was made of cactus fibres, that normally has a life expectancy of 50 years at the most. However it is almost 500 years later and that Tilma is still intact and kept in the shrine just outside Mexico City )
Mary has been appearing in Medjugorje, Bosnia to 6 people, then teenagers in the 1980's, and still is. Her constant message and urging is to pray and fast for the conversion of sinners. I have personally visited that place and met one of them, and am totally convinced of her - she is a married woman now - sincerity.
So if you do not believe that Jesus will send His mother to visit us, - no necromancy here - then you are the poorer for it.
Note - In all her appearances, Mary has been seen and described as a beautiful lady - sometimes sad when she urged prayers for sinners - also glad at times, but mostly as a concerned human mother. Necromancy is the demon spirits imitating the voices of the dead, but who make no appearance. Later, the demons demand payment for their " services'' usually in multiplication of the value of such service. Mary, on the other hand, only asks for prayers for the conversion of sinners.
In Lourdes, France one can see the dozens of walking canes left by grateful clients who requested her intercession and were able to walk after. In Montreal, at St Joseph's Oratory, there are also a multitude of canes and walking sticks also left behind by clients grateful for St Joseph's intercession.
Luke 22:32 = But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”
Here Jesus urged Peter to pray and strengthen his brothers just as Jesus Himself prayed to strengthen Peter.
Ultimately, we as Christians are called to be followers and imitators of Christ - and to pray for others and seek others' intercession
When Jesus gave the Commandment to Love God and neighbour, He made the connection that the love of God was not possible without the other. This is confirmed in the Lord's Prayer whereby God will only forgive us in the measure that we ourselves forgive others.
In the Bible we learn that Jesus fed the multitudes. However, you still go to the grocery store for your provisions.
The Bible states that Jesus cured the sick, yet you visit your doctor.
The Bible states that Jesus was a Teacher, yet you attended school.
God has thus made us co-dependant on each other, just as we have to depend on God.
A possessed person is unable to help themself and needs the help of an exorcist. Is this Biblical or not ??
Though Paul was commissioned by Jesus to preach to the Gentiles, yet Paul urged the Gentiles to pray for him and his mission - Col. 4:3, 1 Thess. 5:25, Heb 13:18.

7. Catholics make and bow down to statues. BIBLE says do not bow down to graven images (statues). Deut 4, Exo 20:4-5.
8. Catholics sprinkles “holy water”. But NT Church of the Bible mentioned nothing about “holy water”. There was no record of any Apostles sprinkling “holy water” on believers. Catholics claimed “holy water” came from OT. Yet Num 5:17 says “holy water” was water used to test adulterous women in OT temple. Hardly the same. Those were for Old Covenant Jews. Not New Testament Christians.
9. Catholics say Peter was pope - bishop of all bishops. Yet BIBLE says Peter was just a leader of the Jerusalem Church. Bible says nothing of the office of bishop of bishops. Gal 2:9, Mat 16:18.
10. Catholics say there is a seat of Peter. Yet BIBLE says nothing about it. Jesus said “not to lord over others”.
11. Catholics has clergy priesthood. Bible says clergy priesthood was done away with in New Testament. There is no clergy priesthood in NT. Heb 7:27, 9:12, 10:10.
12. Catholics preaches Works Salvation (faith + good works + partake R sacraments + submit to R pontiff + be in R Church + devote to Mary = to be saved). Yet Bible says “believe in Jesus to be saved”. Bible says Works Salvation is cursed. Gal 1:8-9. Acts 16:30-31, John 3:16, Romans 10:9-10.
13. Catholics says they must do Penance to atone for their sins. Yet Bible says repent, confess and sins will be forgiven. Catholic Bible changes the word “repentance” in NT into “penance”. Original Greek NT does not use or mean the word penance. Penance = work to atone for sins. Repentance = change of heart. 1 John 1:9, Mat 6.
14. Catholics say Mary went straight to heaven without dying. Yet Bible says nothing about it.
15. Catholics say Islam and Christianity have the same GOD. Yet Islam doesn't believe in death and resurrection of Jesus and Trinity.

@DanteColburn it's great that you know a bit of scripture, but you should try actually reading the bible...
The bible never speaks about those "alive in christ."
We are told the "dead in christ" shall rise first.
We are never told the dead are in heaven praying for us.
1 Thessalonians 4:16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the DEAD IN CHRIST shall rise first:

That is absolutely true.
BUT you didn't read the verses before that one.
James 5:14-16 Is any sick among you? let him call for the ELDERS of the church and LET THEM PRAY OVER HIM, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
Confess your faults one to another, and PRAY ONE FOR ANOTHER, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
This was a letter Paul wrote to the church.
LIVING people.

@DanteColburn the Catholic Church is wrong then.
There is no scripture that speaks about those who pass away are "Alive in christ."
We are told about the DEAD in christ.

Where in these verses does it say that dead saints are praying for us?
Where does it say in these verses that we should pray to dead people?
Where in these verses are we told that the dead saints can hear our prayers??
Jesus taught us how pray - our Father who art in Heaven- shouldn't we adhere to that? Jesus gave us the authority to pray to the Father through Him- ask anything from the Father in My name.- not through anybody else's intercession.
Thank you to the founder of 5 minute Christianity! I couldn't agree with you more about your channels content and speaker, Pastor John MacArthur!!!

That one true church, that was founded on the laws from Leviticus as God instructed, was that church aka the church of Christ which is the Catholic Church. Has God, Jesus ever built anything holy on one of his creations? *NO!* and he hasn't here either. I suggest you look up the meaning of church in Greek. It does not refer to any religious organisation or building. It therefore can not refer to the CC. This is always the problem with Catholics. they do not study scriptures.

I'm not Catholic, but if you choose to quote the church, you should use the Catholic Catechism. If it's not in that then the quote is a personal perspective. Let's maintain integrity if we feel the need to criticise another denomination.
Just curious. Why does the Catechism have higher authority than what he quoted ? I know nothing of Roman Catholicism so hence my question.
So what did John quote? I have heard Catholics teaching that all graces are dispensed through Mary.
Scripture alone! The famous words all protestant denominations use to assert that their teachings are correct and true, although they all disagree from one another in some parts of the Bible. Do you, brothers and sisters in Christ, know that the Bible has no mention of 'scripture alone' and, therefore, the claim is groundless and self-contradictory? Do you know when these words were first used? Luther, after he rejected the teachings of the Catholic Church in 1517, used it first time to justify his actions and to draw peoples away after him. Luther was saying that men who lived from the time of Christ Our Lord until his time were all misled and believed lies of the Catholic Church which Our Lord instituted, suggesting that the Church Our Lord founded on Peter has failed her missions. Could Divine Institution fail, which the Holy Spirit guides and Our Lord heads?
Our Lord did not write scriptures and left them for use for our salvation. Instead, He chose apostles out of common men and taught them orally; then later, before Ascension, founded His Church and entrusted them to continue His work of salvation until the end of ages. The Church, started with 12 Apostles with Peter as its head and 72 disciples as their helpers, grew under persecutions of Jewish people and later the Roman Empire, spread, and now covers the whole world offering the Sacrifice of Our Lord to the Heavenly Father daily for the forgiveness of sins and salvation of souls.
The books in the New Testament were written by Apostles and disciples who worked closely with Apostles. The books were determined by Council of Hippo in AD 393, later confirmed by Council of Carthage in AD 397, and used as a part of Church teachings together with the sacred oral traditions (2Thes 2:15) handed down from the Apostles.
Luther and men who followed him fulfilled St. Paul's warning in Acts 20:29-30, "Wolves will enter in among you and pervert the Truth to draw disciples away after them" and St. Peter's in 2 Pet 2:1-2, "lying teachers among you, who will bring in sects of perdition and many will follow their riotousness, through whom the way of Truth will be evil spoken of."
The Church is the pillar and foundation of Truth (1 Tim 3:15), not the Bible. There shall be a time, when they will not endure sound doctrine: but, according to their own desires, they will heap to themselves teachers, having to themselves itching ears; and will turn away their hearing from the Truth (2 Tim 4:3-4). He, that knows God, hears us. He that is not of God, hears us not. By this we know the spirit of Truth and the spirit of Error (1 John 4:6). In the last times, some shall depart from the Faith, giving heed to spirits of error and doctrines of devils, speaking lies in hypocrisy (1 Tim 4:1-2). But though we or an angel from heaven preach a doctrine to you, other than that which we have preached to you, let him be anathema (Gal 1:8). A man that is a heretic is being condemned by his own judgement (Titus 3:10).
Wake up, brothers and sisters! Ponder, think, examine facts! Return to Our Lord's Church before it is too late. The great Apostacy and the revelation of the man of sin (2 Thes 2:3) are very near. Afterwards, it would be very difficult to return because of cruel persecutions under the Antichrist rule and great calamities in the world. May God grant you understanding and courage to leave the Errors. Amen.

1. Catholics say Mary was sinless. But BIBLE says Mary offered a sinner's offering. She was a sinner. Bible says Mary needed a Saviour. Lk 2:23-24, Lev 12:6-8, Rom 3:10.
2. Catholics say clergies must be celibate. Yet BIBLE says Peter (supposed R Church first leader) had mother in law. Bible says celibacy is not a qualification for clergies. Mat 8:14-15, Mar 1:30-31, Luk 4:38-39.

4. Catholics say confess to R priests in a box. BIBLE says nothing about confessing to priests in a box. Bible says confess to GOD only. 1 John 1:9, Mat 6, Romans 10:9-10.
5. Catholics say drink of the literal blood of Jesus. Yet OT and NT both say do not drink blood. Acts 15, Lev 7:26.
6. Catholics say pray to passed on Mary and "saints". Yet BIBLE says do not contact the dead. NT Church did not record a single case of NT believers asking passed on saints to pray for them. Deut 18:11, Isaiah 8:19.
Gal 1:8-9. Acts 16:30-31, John 3:16.

@@stever4181 I've heard that the churches up north aren't too friendly. Very unfortunate. My experience has been just the opposite, our churches have been very inviting, engaging and charitable.
@@JohnS-jj9by So you are saying the Catholic Churches up north are not Jesus's church? If they are Jesus's church would they not then be inviting since Jesus is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow? They can not be both and still be called the church Jesus started. @@stever4181 That's not what I said. You said the church was "cold" so I assumed you felt the parishioners weren't "friendly".

@@JohnS-jj9by Here is a quote from a Priest to my soon-to-be wife back in 1973, "If you leave the CC God will forget about you" and another one from the same priest to the family when my father-in-law had an incurable brain tumor; "It would be best to include the church (CC) in his will to lessen his time in purgatory". The people I had no problems with. I too have Catholic friends. It is always the false teaching you receive from priests that is the problem.

I got mad. He got an attorney and had me thrown out of church with a threat of being arrested if I returned, it’s been hell
Too bad you had a bad preacher.
Perhaps if you're still hungry for God, you could read the bible for yourself.
Jesus is a great teacher!
Jesus showed us """The Way"""" to walk.
James spoke about the things you do bear witness of your belief.
Jesus said believe and do all that Moses taught. Matt 23:1-3, Luke 5:47, John 16:31.
Why did he do that?
Israel tried many times and many different ways to please God. When they did it His way they prospered, not so much when they tried their own way.
He spent 40 years in the desert teaching the His ways but the older generation died because they wanted to do things their own way.
Fast forward to 325 AD & we have council of nicea where they changed Gods ways. Reference (Dan7:25)
In these years, the changes that were made in 325 AD are still being practiced.
These ways are not what Jesus taught.
For example the sabbath wasn't a Jewish day it is a Godly day!
Yet Christian's say no way, we want to worship on a day we like!
Or If you walk out any part of the law you're being legalistic. Yet all the apostles did it.
Unfortunately they miss the fact that Jesus taught the law of Moses!
He echoed the prophets as well.
So just like Israel, Christians today want to worship Him their way.
Go to new church, a church maybe like this or a nice Christian church where you are welcome!
Mrsand.. yes I also very dismayed about these priests.
As part of the laity we need to restore and purify the Church.....which has been infiltrated by evil ppl.
The goal of the devil is to destroy the one true faith est. by Jesus Christ.
I will never leave the Catholic Church and will keep looking for a good priest
I am sorry you had that experience. I wouldn't leave the church just because I had a negative experience with one priest. That is like leaving your country because you don't like your current president. Unfortunately we have a bad Pope in the Vatican. I am not sure what happened as you left that part out of your story.
You shouldn't leave Christ because of Judas. And the Christ and sacraments were instituted by Christ.
There should be flyers up in your Church about abuse and where to report it if you encounter it. If they aren't up there, get one from another church and called the Diocese office.
What happened to you was wrong and I am SO sorry. But keep this in mind too, pedophilia among priests is a bit more than 1 %. It's a bit less than 4% with the general population, that includes Protestant pastors. The problem has to do with the Communist infiltration of the Church in the 30s and 40s, which Bella Dodd writes about in "School of Darkness." I highly recommend "Explaining the Faith: the Priesthood" it's a RUclips talk by Father Chris Alar who is from the shrine of Divine Mercy.
Most Protestants are good people, but they don't live in a sacramental reality. That will always lead to secularism. There are 50k+ Protestant churches, which have all schismed from each other. Sola Scriptura doesn't hold people together and you can see how badly that people can interpret scripture when you don't understand it's context. Just remember, the Catholic Church is the hardest faith to live in, but the easiest one to die in. I left the church for 12 years and getting in that confessional and being welcomed home was the greatest mercy of my life. I was almost a functional atheist, but had been given just enough grace to humble myself to ask God to help me. I started praying my rosary again. Then, I had a dream about Christ's crucifixion. Mary brought me back to Christ. I know how confused I was. I'm praying for you now too.

Why do so many Catholics claim to be believers in Jesus Christ, yet pray to Mary and the so-called 'saints'? If they are truly followers of Christ and have truly accepted him, then the Holy Spirit should indwell them and lead them out of the idolatry of the Roman Catholic church.
That's my story. Received a bible at 12 years old from my lay Catholic catechism teacher. There were numerous footnotes every page explaining how the Word was wrong and giving the Church's right teaching. I decided then to only trust the Word of God, and never a denomination or any man.
What's wrong with praying to Mary. I guarantee you don't know the meaning of the word "pray". Some love to attack Catholicism knowing nothing about what it teaches. You make yourself look like a fool.
Praise ve to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Catholics don't directly pray to Mary and the saints by giving them dovine attributes and treatments. We pray to them so they can intercede our prayers to God. In another words, we ask the saints/Mary to pray for us or delover our praye s to God himself. This irrevocably means that the final destination of all Catholic prayers is God, not the saints. We're very well aware that saints/Mary should never be elevated to the level of God.

He was doing good, until he said that Catholics believe Mary is the only way to God. devotion to Mary is not required to be a Catholic in good standing. It’s purely an individual devotion. Christ is the center point of the Church. Looking to Mary, where is she always pointing? Not to herself but to Christ.

I'd invite everyone to pray about the Eucharist. As a Catholic Christian, the Eucharist is an all or nothing deal. If Catholic Christians are wrong about the Eucharist, we are the worst idolaters in the world - worse than the Israelites with the golden calf. But if we are right, then we have the key to everything. Either the Catholic Church is the worst, or it is the only. Yet they think because they're Christians somehow God will accept this behavior from them!
And don't you dare try to tell them what they're doing goes against what God commanded!

11 Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties;
again and again he offers the same sacrifices, WHICH CAN NEVER TAKE AWAY SINS.
12 But when THIS PRIEST [Jesus] had offered FOR ALL TIME ONE SACRIFICE FOR SINS, He sat down at the right hand of God, ..."
I encourage reading of the entire tenth chapter of Hebrews - and in fact the whole book (only 13 chapters total) Chapters 7 - 12 are very clear on the TRANSITION from OLD TESTAMENT LAW (Old Covenant Law) to New Testament Grace (New Covenant Grace)
Romans is a much more comprehensive study, but it is worth reading as it is VERY ENLIGHTENING!!
Galatians is only 6 chapters and it is very 'eye-opening' as well!!
Valerie you are absolutely correct. I made the same decision which is why I’m back in the Church. After wandering in the hot mess of evangelical protestantism for a few years I began seeing the circular illogical fallacies of that system.
Questions that have no answers in Protestantism suddenly had clear answers in Catholicism. It stunned me that I and millions of others didn’t see them immediately but such is the nature of diabolical deception.
1- where did the Bible come from?
I realize God inspired it but the question is WHO DISCERNED from among hundreds of writings floating around claiming authority WHAT the INDEX of books was? There’s no inspired table of contents in the Bible so the Bible Alone theory is dead in the water just from that one fact alone.
2- every prot claims to be personally guided into all Truth by the Holy Spirit when reading the Bible. Yet with tens of thousands of denominations that claim is demonstrably false.
3- Historical records demonstrates no protestant heresies for 15 centuries till luther invented a brand new religion in his tormented mind.
We have historical writings from men who were personally converted and discipled by the Apostles themselves. St Ignatius of Antioch was a disciple of St John who wrote John 6 on the Eucharist.
Ignatius writes it is a literal meaning as taught to him by the very man who WROTE John 6. Who learned it from the lips of Jesus Himself!
He writes of Authority within the ONE CHURCH and about Bishops Priests and Deacons. This was in 107 AD while John was probably still alive yet none of his contemporaries challenged his teachings as heretical. People dying in arenas for the Truth yet oddly silent on such supposedly wrong teachings. Ignatius wrote his letters while being taken to Rome to suffer martyrdom himself!
5- Jesus COMMANDED UNITY at the Last Supper and Paul denounced factions. Funny how protestants claim following the Bible yet can’t square their own existence with these Biblical doctrines.
I could go on and on but these will suffice. No amount of Biblical ping pong can answer these facts.
My last question was this. How could these things all point to the Catholic Church when so many of her teachings contradict Scripture?
Then I realized this: her teachings don’t contradict Scripture. What they contradict was my MISUNDERSTANDING of Scripture. Which wasn’t the same thing at all.
5- Many of the objections to Church teachings aren’t even true. We don’t worship Mary, we aren’t cannibals and papal infallibility doesn’t mean every word uttered or opinion spoken is a direct line from heaven. It also does NOT mean sinless perfection.
When you misstate someone’s position then knock THAT down that’s the logical fallacy known as the classic Red Herring.
I could go on but that’s enough for any serious seeker of Truth to ponder.
If you believe as I have heard from other catholics that the BREAD which REPRESENTS His body actually BECOMES His body then you are correct you are the worst. It is cannibalism to consume human flesh. The wine REPRESENTS His body because the Torah and Tanakh STRICTLY FORBID the consumption of Blood His or anyone else's. So if you believe the Wine BECOMES BLOOD then you are the worst as YOU have said.

Catholicism is a reflection of the OT. It was even more prevalent when they had the Latin mass. When Vatican 2 was implemented by Pope John 23rd, things changed. But, Mary has always been the focal point of worship and esteem, even to the point of an asigned "virgin birth" thus making her "Immaculate". That is celebrated each year on December 8th. A "Hail Mary" in sports is a unbelievable game winning play. Notre Dame means "our lady". Mary was a good, humble and obedient woman. But, she is not the "Queen of Heaven."
In 325A.D, at the council of nicea, they(the catholic church)changed the sabbath to Sunday, passover and unleavened bread were replaced with Easter, feast of booths was replaced with Thanksgiving, etc.

Mother Mary was given to us from Jesus on the Cross and she leads us to Jesus. We will never love her more than Jesus. A priest brings us the sacraments including the bread of Life, Jesus’s body and blood in the Holy Eucharist John Chapter 6 to received God’s Grace but we do not need a priest to have communication and relationship with God. Mary does nothing…:she was simply a heart and vessel, like so many in the Bible, used by God to carry out His plan for the salvation of the world. If Mary were alive today she would condemn those who even mention her name along with Christ. It’s the Holy Spirit that leads people to Christ. All have been born into sin… All people… Including Mary. If one wanted to make an argument that a person from the Bible leads people to Christ… It would be the apostle Paul. But even Paul said he has nothing. He was a great vessel however he was still broken. He wrote some of the best letters, which were inspired by the Holy Spirit, to the churches of the Mesopotamian area. Saints great and small were used in powerful ways by God, again, we all hear the gospel, but it is by the Holy Spirit that we come to Christ. By the way we are all sent according to the Bible… Those who believe
Salvation: The Roman Catholic Church teaches that salvation is by baptismal regeneration and is maintained through the Catholic sacraments unless a willful act of sin is committed that breaks the state of sanctifying grace. The Bible teaches that we are saved by grace which is received through simple faith (Ephesians 2:8-9), and that good works are the result of a change of the heart wrought in salvation (Ephesians 2:10; 2 Corinthians 5:17) and the fruit of that new life in Christ (John 15).
Assurance of salvation: The Roman Catholic Church teaches that salvation cannot be guaranteed or assured. 1 John 5:13 states that the letter of 1 John was written for the purpose of assuring believers of the CERTAINTY of their salvation.
Good Works: The Roman Catholic Church states that Christians are saved by meritorious works (beginning with baptism) and that salvation is maintained by good works (receiving the sacraments, confession of sin to a priest, etc.) The Bible states that Christians are saved by grace through faith, totally apart from works (Titus 3:5; Ephesians 2:8-9; Galatians 3:10-11; Romans 3:19-24).

1// The Catholic Church does not teach that we earn our salvation by our own efforts, although it does teach that we have to work on our salvation. The same apostle who wrote Galatians also wrote Philippians, wherein Paul says, “Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling” (Phil. 2:12).
2// The official teachings of the Catholic Church teaches that we can do nothing to merit the grace that comes to us in baptism, which is the normal beginning of the Christian life. In fact, the Council of Trent condemned anyone who taught that we can save ourselves or who taught even that God helps us do what we could do for ourselves. The Church teaches that we can be saved only by God’s grace.
3// Following Paul, the Catholic Church teaches that justification comes by faith. Only it says that it doesn’t come through faith alone. If you look carefully at Paul’s writings, you will notice that he never says that our righteousness comes from faith alone-only that it comes from faith apart from works.
4// Romans 3:28 is a key verse in the differences between Protestants and Catholics. You will notice that Paul says a man is justified by faith (pistei in Greek). When Martin Luther translated the letter to the Romans into German in the sixteenth century, he added the word alone -but alone is not in the original Greek text. The phrase “faith alone” does occur in the New Testament: one time, in James 2:24. There the inspired apostle denies that justification is from faith alone. Let me quote it: “You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone.”
5// Paul categorically excludes works from our salvation. But what kind of works is Paul talking about? If we believe the entire Bible, we need to see how Paul’s words fit together with James’s words, because James clearly says that “a man is justified by works.” If Paul and James mean the same thing by works, then they contradict one another. Since you and I both believe that the Bible cannot contradict itself, we must agree that Paul and James mean two different things by the word works.
6// The Catholic Church believes that we should interpret Scripture by using Scripture. You will note that sometimes Paul expands his phrase from works by adding the phrase of the law, as in Romans 3:20 and 28 and Galatians 2:16. Further, sometimes Paul substitutes the phrase through the law to describe the same reality. For example, in Romans 3:20, he says, “Through the law comes knowledge of sin.” In other words, when Paul uses the word works he is talking about the Old Testament law.
7// A careful reading of Galatians will show that Paul is using works of the law to refer especially to the law of circumcision. He is so strong about this that he says in Galatians 5:2, “Now I, Paul, say to you that if you receive circumcision, Christ will be of no advantage to you.” Paul’s opponents in Galatia wanted to bring the Gentile Christians back into the Old Testament law. These are the works of the law that Paul is fighting against, and they have no place in our justification. Paul is saying in essence that Gentile Christians do not have to be circumcised and live like Jewish Christians in order to be saved.

Catholicism is Judaism for the gentiles. The Jews created catholicism to put the gentiles back under the law, therefore negating the work of Christ on the cross and the grace it creates for salvation. Catholicism is from the devil via babylonian talmud.
I'm thinking it's because Mary is the mother of Jesus. They think Jesus would do things for his mother - like turning water into wine.
I haven't had much look into this, but my understanding is it is more directly related to Greek/Roman gods and those practices creeping into the church as it was. Rome has never left its polytheistic roots, only rebranded over time.
As a side note, the statue of Neptune was converted into the statue of Peter, it's feet have been touched and kissed so much over the years it has been worn down. This is a perfect metaphor for the idolatry of Catholicism.

I'm Catholic. I've had prayers made in Jesus' name answered. However, it is also my understanding that Blessed Mother has a role in our salvation and that she ALWAYS delights in her son and in bringing people to her son. The Catholic Church teaches that "never was it known that anyone who sought the assistance of the Blessed Virgin Mary was ever left unaided" and that even as Mary never refuses a request for help, neither does Jesus ever refuse a request made by His Mother. With these understandings, we can be grateful that God has a role for Blessed Mother. Never was it known...
The Catholic Church says a lot of things that are outright lies and saying Mary has a role in salvation or should be prayed to is one of them. Your understanding is wrong and Catholic teachings are man made unscriptural foolishness.
God bless and this has also been show to happen. A priest on youtube said a story about a priest who went to the hospital to a dying man. That man had not lived a Christian life but still believed in Jesus. The man was once told that if you pray the Hail Mary 3 times a day then she will not let you go to hell. He did so and guess what. Why is the preacher contradicting the Catholic Church to Christianity? The Bible he uses comes from the Church, but he reads only fragments that suits his thesis. And Mary, Mother of God, is now our mother too, read John 19:26 if you want. That's why are free to ask Mary for help. God just gives us this possibility. We Catholics, contrary to what the man here said, are able and fully entitled, so to speak, to call God our Father, because that's the way the Church teaches. The first prayer we always say starts with "Our Father...". So disappointing.
Catholics and protestants are the same. John MacArthur teaches christianeese.
A light form of Christianity.
Let's face it for the majority that is all they will accept.
They only want certain truths not the whole truth.
Jesus showed us """The Way"""" to walk.
James spoke about the things you do bear witness of your belief.
Jesus said believe and do all that Moses taught. Matt 23:1-3, John 5:47, Luke 16:31....How did I miss that?
Israel tried many times and many different ways to please God.
When they did it His way they prospered, not so much when they tried their own way.
He spent 40 years in the desert teaching them His ways but the older generation died because they wanted to do things their own way.
Fast forward 325 years we have council of nicea where the Catholics changed Gods ways. Reference (Dan7:25)
1700 years later the changes that were made in 325 AD are still being practiced, by protestant & Catholic churches!
These ways are not what Jesus taught.
For example the sabbath wasn't a Jewish day it is a Godly day! Yet Christian's say no way, we want to worship on a day we like!
Or If you walk out any part of the law you're being legalistic.
Unfortunately they miss the fact that Jesus taught the law of Moses! He echoed the prophets as well.
The apostles ALL kept walking in Torah!
So just like Israel, Christians today want to worship Him their way.
The lies that the church is living is the reason we are at this place in time.
Christians, time is up, judgement is coming.
Scripture tells us that Israel will get double in judgement....that means others will get half.
Half of what Israel had to bear is still alot!

To answer your question, that commandment about ''idolatry''? It's on top of the list! Commandment number 1. Yup!
You're welcome
The CC has omitted the commandment of making images. No doubt so they can then bow down to their statues and kiss them and pray to them.

So who says that the Catholic Church wanted to GET RID of this commandment ? If the Catholic Church wanted to do that, why would it publish Bible translations that STILL contain that verse that talks about graven images ?
You have obviously been deceived into thinking that Catholics worship graven images. It is true that the Catholic Church has different forms of graven images (eg images of Jesus, Mary, etc) but the Catholic Church DID NOT make them with the intention or purpose of WORSHIPPING them.
Exodus 20:4 is condemning those images that are made with the intention of WORSHIPPING them. Exodus 20:4 isn't condemning ALL KINDS OF images because not ALL images are offensive to God.
@@jerome2642 The Duoay Rheims Bible Exodus 20:4 "Thou shalt not make to thyself a graven thing, *nor the likeness of any thing that is in heaven above*, or in the earth beneath, nor of those things that are in the waters under the earth.
New Jerusalem Bible Exodus 20:4 "You shall not make yourself a carved image *or any likeness* of anything in heaven above or on earth beneath or in the waters under the earth".
Both of these versions state that you should not have ANY statues of Mary or Jesus as every CC I have ever been in has.
You can not deny that you pray to Mary in fact your rosary is a prayer to Mary. You deceive yourself if you think otherwise.
It is not I that has been deceived!
@@stever4181 Obviously, Exodus 20:4 says that we should not MAKE graven images. But you have failed to read Exodus 20:5 which tells us WHY God told the Israelites not to make any graven images: it was because He didn't want them to BOW down to them or WORSHIP them. Can't you see that graven images themselves are NOT evil objects or objects that are offensive to God; it is only when people begin to WORSHIP them that they become offensive to God. This means that God is NOT offended if a graven image is made WITHOUT worshipping it. You should Stop sounding as if simply MAKING a graven image is a sin. No. It is MAKING a graven image AND WORSHIPPING it that is a sin.
It is not ALL graven images that are IDOLS; it is only when a graven image is being worshipped that it becomes an IDOL.
There is nothing wrong with making or having images of Jesus or Mary because they are NOT idols. They only become idols when people begin to WORSHIP them. And I told you that the REASON WHY the Catholic Church makes such images is NOT because the Catholic Church intends or desires to WORSHIP them.
If you believe that ALL graven images are IDOLS or evil objects, why did God instruct Moses to MAKE a graven image in Numbers chapter 21 ? Why did He instruct King Solomon to MAKE graven images in 1 kings 6:22 - 28 ? Are you now going to accuse God of instructing them to make IDOLS ?

So, if it wasn't the Catholic/Orthodox church that compiled the 27 books of the NT in the 5th century with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and preserved it by laboriously hand copying them over and over throughout the centuries before the invention of the printing press, the “rule of faith” for many, please tell us, show us, who did? "Mary gets it for you?" Sounded like room service? I just can't go directly to the food? God Bless John MacArthur Always!
The idea that "Mary gets it for you" is a misunderstanding of Catholic Marian theology. The Catholic Church does not teach that Mary serves as an intermediary who takes the place of Jesus in a way that bypasses direct access to God. Rather, Mary is honored and venerated within Catholicism for her unique role in salvation history, and her intercessory role is understood differently.
Here's a clarification of Catholic beliefs regarding Mary's role:
Intercessory Role: Catholics believe that Mary, as the Mother of Jesus, can intercede with her Son on behalf of believers. This means that Catholics may ask Mary to pray for them, just as they might ask a friend or family member to pray for them. It is not a matter of Mary "getting" something for you but rather seeking her prayers and intercession.
Not a Substitute for Christ: Mary's intercessory role is never seen as a substitute for Jesus Christ, who remains the ultimate mediator between God and humanity. Catholics believe in direct access to God through prayer and have a personal relationship with Jesus.
Model of Faith and Devotion: Mary is honored because of her exemplary faith and obedience to God. Catholics look to her as a model of devotion and faithfulness to God's will.
Assisting in Our Relationship with God: Just as one might ask a fellow Christian to pray for them, Catholics believe that asking Mary and the saints in heaven to pray for them can assist in deepening their relationship with God.
It's important to note that while Mary holds a special place in Catholic devotion, worship is reserved for God alone. Mary is venerated and honored as a beloved figure in Christian history, but she does not replace the direct relationship that individuals can have with God through Jesus Christ. The goal is to draw closer to God with the assistance and prayers of those who have gone before us in faith, including Mary.
You learn to eat first, before you learn to cook the food yourself. So, being less parabolic: You can pray directly to God, but it's Mary who often encourages you to do it in the first place.
@@albertobarbosa4938nope it’s yourself 💀 mary doesn’t come to you and tell you pray or pray this way
Anyone who hasn't studied Catholicism shouldn't be putting out videos titled like this. I have so far enjoyed Dr. John MacArthur's videos but I do hope he realizes that many Protestant ministers have converted to being Catholic after studying the teachings of the church. That does not mean that all Catholics are good people. There are both good people and bad people in all religions.
Catholics interpret the Bible wrong in so many ways
That just means those protestant ministers weren’t Christians in the first place and they certainly aren’t now. Don’t worry, there’s plenty more in Protestant church Popets, especially in the mainline denominations.
Roman Catholicism is a different religion just like Mormonism and the Jehovah witnesses are. They pretend to be Christian as that’s how Satan operates. The Roman Church during the “Council of Trent“ which lasted 18 years after the reformation, published their findings and canon IX anathematized the core of the gospel itself that salvation is by grace through faith alone.
One of the other many differences is when it comes to the infused grace of Rome through the seven Sacraments versus imputed grace of Protestantism, which is overwhelmingly biblical.
MacArthur does these videos for a reason as God has used them in the conversion of many Hispanic former Roman Catholics in Southern California.

1 Timothy 3:1-2 "This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;"
*"Bishop" is translated from the Greek word episkopos, meaning “overseer." It was first used for officials in government, and later came to be used for church leaders. In the Bible, bishop and priest were used to identify the same thing.*

*Why are Catholic priests commonly referred to by the title "Father"? The context of this verse is not calling your dad father it's about titles of leadership. If God forbade people from holding even the titles "Master" and "Rabbi" why is "Father" okay?*
Matthew 23:5-6 "But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments, And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues,"
