I learned from Image-Line that using buses or sends actually slows down your CPU’s performance. Because each channel is a new opportunity for your multicore processor to use a separate core for each channel. When you run everything to a send first. Now it can only use one core at a time for all the effects running to that one send.
“Each Mixer Track represents an 'opportunity' to create these independent, parallel, processing paths. Each unit in the audio chain from the instrument through to the Mixer track and the effects must be processed in sequence on the same core.”

This is really interesting to hear. I'm going to look into this some more. From what I've experienced when I was using a slower computer, having one or two sends actually saved CPU (and project load time) because I didn't have so many instances of the same effect on multiple channels. I really appreciate the comment and will look into this further!

My bad on the late reply -- yes, and Hermes is pretty dope! It's got a few presets that I like, but I haven't gone in too much on the design side trying to create my own sounds. I recommend it for the price.
