The guitar in this video is the real guitar he used on every recording, despite his fancy on-stage custom guitars. It's Hohner Mad Cat, a cheap copy of a Fender Telecaster. It's all he could afford when he was young, and he didn't let the instrument decide his skill, he just got better. Incidentally, all of his on stage custom guitars, are also basically Telecaster copies as well, despite the different shapes of their bodies.

He was short, he wore heels, make up, girly shirts etc..But when he danced on the stage with that guitar and combined falsetto with deep voice, he was like a magnet..I tell you, I am taller than him (for appr. 20 cm) but I'd be looking at him the same way as that girl 😊 Prince was a fantastic singer, guitar player, and showman, and, yes, this song was played on the radio back in the Purple Rain days..

    Dearly beloved
    We are gathered here today
To get through this thing called life
    Electric word life
It means forever and that's a mighty long time
But I'm here to tell you
    There's something else
    The afterworld
    A world of never-ending happiness
You can always see the sun, day or night
So when you call up that shrink in Beverly Hills
You know the one Dr. Everything'll Be Alright
Instead of asking him how much of your time is left
Ask him how much of your mind, baby
    'Cause in this life
Things are much harder than in the afterworld
    In this life
    You're on your own
    OH the 80s ;)

    Glad you're enjoying Prince.
He played 27 instruments all as well as he played guitar. He released 40 albums and composed, arranged produced and performed the vast majority of them on his own, and sold in excess of 110 million albums.
His symbol was created in order to be able to release music quickly without being called Prince as contractually, his record company only wanted him to release 1 album every 2 - 3 years. Prince could promote an album, do a world tour and have a brand new album ready to tour within 10 months. In that time he'd also have 2 albums written and recorded that would never be released, and be stored in his vault. Upon his death he had over 1000 unreleased songs. That's one album per year with 10 tracks on it, for the next 100 years. This guy was a one of a kind genius.
If you get chance, watch the Lovesexy 88 tour on dvd. It's not only Princes greatest tour, but to this day the greatest tour/live performance I've seen. Period.

Playing all instruments, writing all music, singing all parts including harmonies, producing etc. he only needed a band to tour. He was also the best bandleader ever. Prince was a musical genius. It was said he could play at least 27 instruments and he did in fact make several albums where he played all the instruments and did all the vocals himself on the album. When Prince signed his record deal with Warner Brothers, it stipulated that he would not own his masters, but Warner Bros. did. Later on he realized what a bad deal he got and tried to get out of it and wanted his masters. He was upset that Warner Bros. wouldn't let him release albums as fast as he wanted to and that they owned the rights to his music, music, by the way that he wrote and composed solely himself. His music was like his children he said. So he set out to get out of his contract with them and get his masters back. Prince felt like they were putting too many limitations on him as an artist so he started going to meetings and performing with the word SLAVE written on his face. Can you imagine your top artist in your company walking around with that written on his face and telling anyone who asked that you were enslaving him by stifling his creativity. he made it very hard on Warner Bro. lol. Then he came up with another plan. He would change his name to symbol in order to release material under that instead of Prince allowing him to regain control over his output without breaking his contract. Brilliant right??? He said, Prince was the name my mother gave me at birth and Warner Bros. took the name and trademarked it and used it to promote all the music I wrote. The company owns the name Prince and all related music marketed under Prince, I became merely a pawn used to make more money for them. As you can imagine, this was a nightmare for Warner Bro. since the symbol was unpronounceable and not easy to type or write so they had to re-do many documents and try to incorporate it in any new documents about Prince. They didn't even know how to address him. The media started addressing his as The artist formerly known as Prince or just The Artist so they could write about him and interview him. The symbol became known as The love Symbol because it was a cross between the male and female sign. After three years of fighting, Warner Brothers released him and Prince was free to make and market himself, and he did just fine. Probably made more money without the middle man. In 2014, he made an agreement with Warner Brothers to release two new LP's for them and he finally got his masters back in his control. Prince died just two years after finally getting what he had been fighting for for years. Prince is unarguably one of the greatest musicians of all time, definitely one of the most unique and talented. You should learn more about him, he is amazing. He had a vault in his house, a huge bank like vault, with thousand of unreleased music in it. I'm sure the family will gradually release some of it. He was so charismatic and talented. You really should watch Purple Rain, it is iconic and he won an Oscar for best score. All the songs in the movie were on his Purple Rain album which was amazing. React to Baby I'm a star, live 1984. It is an amazing performance. There is also an amazing performance of Purple Rain, called Prince and the Revolution Purple Rain, live 1985 official video. It says official video but it is a live performance and it is 16.34 minutes long and it is amazing. There are so many songs this man has and any one you listen to is great. Just look him up and pick a song, any song. you can't go wrong.
