Prince had no rehearsal with the band for this performance . He only told them he wanted the outro. You can see on their faces that they are just as stoked as we are as he plays. Dhani had a look on his face like. “ I hope my Dad is watching this”💫⭐️EPIC
Prince takes this song to another level ... OMG!! George Harrison’s son was digging it 😂 Prince really makes the statement with his guitar solo & I love how he left the stage ..... Like dropping the mike on the floor! Prince is such a bad A## musician! 💜💜💜💜
Prince was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame that night, as well as Harrison. That's why he was invited to play by Tom Petty. As someone previously said Rolling Stone had recently left Prince off of the 100 greatest guitarists list so part of the reason Prince showed out was a FU to Rolling Stone. The next time they did the list he was in at number 23.
Prince is a genius guitarist because he combines simplicity with complexity in his playing. He makes such beautiful sounds with his guitar and melodies but then he'll shred like metal out of nowhere. His guitar sounds like its literally singing. Case and point the melody at 7:34 - 7:44 , but then goes full beast mode at 8:36 Prince played with melody so well! The entire band was so beautiful too and this was just such a special moment, especially for musicians
"It's like a void inside you that is filling up as it's being played." Well said. Yes it is. It's a longing. And for musicians as good as this - as if there are any - to take their respectful time and let it build... Imagine the jam after this show.
Almost 20 years since George Harrison death. Wow. For those who don’t know, Tom Petty (blond in purple) leads off the song. On his left, George Harrison’s son, Dhani. On his right, in sunglasses is ELO’s Jeff Lynn. Guitarist Marc Mann, in the cap on the far left, hits the mid song solo originally by an uncredited Eric Clapton. Steve Winwood is on keyboard. And Prince slays the final solo. Good choice Hap.
Iconic performance from Prince as always, he took the song to another level. My favourite version. Search for him to his lives, he is a genius musician
Sure a guitar can weep. And Mark Knopler says it can cry or sing. Great performance of this song and good reaction. Rest in peace George, Tom and Prince.
Haven't heard this song in decades but it's an unforgettable classic. Wonderful performance. Every musician is stunning. (I'm tearing up, too) George Harrison's son looks so much like him. Prince is a musical genius. R&R Hall of Fame performances are usually stellar. I watched the Queen performance just the other day.
I watch this every day. Yes, Princes solo is AMAZING, but Marc Mann carries the song until the purple one steps in. He makes that guitar sound like it's weeping. Such a melancholy song. And makes me sad thinking Tom and Prince, plus others I grew up listening to in the 70/80s, are now gone. 😔
This is a great performance by true legends. Tribute to George at the Rock & Roll hall of fame. Prince had something to prove. He wasn’t listed as one of the best guitarists in rock. He didn’t even make the top 50. Thanks Hap great reaction 🔥
Rolling Stone Dirs. claim that they accidently left him out so, since Prince was inducted into the Hall Of Fame at the same time as Harrison, he thought he would give Rolling Stone Magazine Dirs. a show on how he could play a guitar since they left him off the list!
I love this song and the way it builds up suspension. Everything is so on point and melodic...a true tribute song by these legends and it sounds great. Then Prince comes on and what can I say...he was brilliant...and yes, he changes the vibe (but in a good way). I heard that Prince refused to play his solo for anyone ahead of time and kept it a secret. It’s incredible to see him kind of take the stage and play brilliantly. And he puts a huge smile on Dhani Harrison’s face. 🌻
George Harrisons induction into the Hall of Fame, his son Dhani requested Prince perform this solo, it is like seeing a clone of George, notice before Prince starts his solo Dhani smiles at him and nods like go for it! You should listen to Georges version of his song
Wonderfully said! This is like a guitar master class! Musicians put all their joys, rage and sorrows into every note they play. The beautiful magic of these different kinds of music through the centuries and amazing artists/groups like the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Prince, etc- their music fill gaps in the soul we may not even know are there!
Listened and watched it thousands of times. But never enough to me. Love Jeff, love Tom, love Dhani. But Prince ... ohh ... 😵😵😵 ❤️❤️❤️ can’t get used to that 😍
Each artist conveys their own emotions through their instrument. Prince told of his own gentle weeping and played with others perfectly I thought. He didn't almost fall off the stage, he laid back to be lifted. It's symbolic.
Perdona que hable en español, pero me pareces que sobre todo con una gran sensibilidad y selección de canciones canciones, que me m llevan a un un pasado más bonito, thank you 🎶👍
Yeah man, vibrations are fundamental, even at a quantum level. Well said! Prince was an acoustic grand master of the highest order. Seeing him live was one of the most spiritual experiences of my life, it’ll live with me till I pass on. 💜 O(-+>
Dear HAP3 please react to more Prince live performances like Empty Room from Montreux or The Ride from Las Vegas and react to Anneke Van Giersbergen - I Saw a Car or Hurricane. Great songs. One of the best female voices around right now
U nailed that bud...the guitar is a lifeless instrument... like all instruments...it's what somebody puts into that instrument... that's y everyone sounds different.. great reaction..
Others may well have said this but sone backstory here is that George Harrison was being inducted into the Rock ‘N’ Roll Hall Of Fame as a solo artist this night a couple of years after his passing (he’d already been inducted as a member of The Beatles). And what no reaction channel seems to acknowledge about this Supergroup is Dhani Harrison on guitar behind and sometimes to the left of Tom Petty, Dhani is the absolute spitting image of his Dad and at one point smiles broadly at Prince during his solo (sweet, sweet moment) 😊 It’s also widely reported that although Prince was inducted into RNRHF that same night he hadn’t made their list of 100 greatest guitarists which apparently he was extremely pissed off with, hence after an out-of-this-world guitar solo he throws his guitar into the crowd and leaves the stage! 😊
Like with Queen’s “Somebody to Love”. I have favorite versions of “While My Guitar”. This is in the top five. So is the one from the tribute concert with Eric Clapton and Paul McCartney. And Jeff Healey’s is good too. George Harrison and Jeff Lynn played acoustic and added vocal harmony tracks.
AN AWESOME SONG WRITTEN BY GEORGE HARRISON. THE GUYS HIS FRIENDS TOGETHER MANIFESTED AN ENERGY THAT COULD I BELIEVE ONLY BE CREATED BY THEM WHICH THROUGH THE BOND THAT THEY HAD AS MUSICIANS AND FRIENDS. THEY INSTINCTIVELY PROJECTED FROM THEIR INSTRUMENTS TO FILL THAT VOID AS COMPLETELY AS IF GEORGE WAS STILL PLAYING WITH THEM. A VERY DEEP AND INSIGHTFUL REACTION, HAP!!💜🎶🙏
I’ve never seen you or your channel before right now when I am watching reactions to while my guitar....I have not even watched your reaction yet & I already LOVE you, because I see those walls!! Queen 4ever💜👑
All the musician on stage just though they were going to play the original, great song and finish off. Prince was much like Freddie>>>that song has been done>>Let's one up it and that is what Price did.
Piano-Billy Preston (solo artist) / Organ-Steve Winwood (solo artist) / Guitars left to right / Marc Mann (many bands) Jeff Lynne (ELO) Tom Petty (Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers) Dhani Harrison(George Harrison's son) Prince (Prince and the Revolutions) Scott Thurston (bass) Steve Ferrone (drums)
So as covered before GH was being inducted posthumously into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame as a solo artist/singer-songwriter in his own right, already inducted years earlier as a member of The Beatles. And although Lennon & McCartney were the dominant songwriters for TB’s this is a George Harrison composition and featured on The Beatles White Album (‘68) 😊
some blues, some heavy, some santana's delay, paying tribute to the original, always personal. and sticking to the rhythm, because he is funky. bows bows bows
Haha you wanna keep your eyes closed and enjoy the solo but it's tricky with prince because you wanna watch him move and entertain! He's a total instrument
You need to go listen to the original by Beatles/George Harrison... then you will see why this is an epic performance, They nailed it...Tom and Jeff played in the Traveling Wilbury's with George.. only fitting for them to do the vocals. That is George's son Danhi, beside Tom Petty... Prince gets down playing to Danhi.
Ahh you found this, this is epic, Prince is such an underatted guitar player, he was one of the best. Apparently he kind of threw the guitar down at the end and walked off as some kind of F U to Tom Petty and the band, someone may be able to shed more light on it as I can't remember, it was in a documentary after Prince died.
The reason Prince is playing is he got left off the list of the top 100 guitar players ever. The original of this song was written by George Harrison and played on the Beatles 'White Album'. The guitar solo was played by an uncredited Eric Clapton. So Prince wanted to show he was as good as Clapton. So he lobbied hard to get this gig so he could be compared favorably with Clapton. Interviewed later Prince I think mentioned he thought he did as good as Clapton. Well this all got back to Eric and a while later was asked who is the greatest guitar player ever? To which Clapton said "you'll have to ask Prince that question". And a quasi feud was born. Anyway you'll better understand why Prince went to the lengths he did in this performance. P.S. That is Stevie Winwood playing the organ.
I am so grateful for everyone who explained the Prince issue. He is so great at everything musical I would have automatically assumed he was included high up on the top 100 list. I was wondering who was playing the organ so thank you for that also! Eric Clapton - another name right out of my CD collection. He has made me tear up many times with his music.
@@snjezanasiklic8934 exactly in fact this group wouldn't be complete without Duane Allman who some say including Clapton and Bobby Whitlocke, the Layla album might never have been started let alone finished. After the album was done Eric asked Duane to join the band, but Duane said he had just got his band to where they were all moving in the same direction. Duane would leave his band and show up unannounced and play a few dates, but always would go back to the ABB but re-charged and ready to go.
ANyone who listens to Prince's solo has gotta make guitar faces -- it's mandatory
I like the song, of course..But, when Prince steps in...well, pure Magic!
I have lost count of how many times I’ve watched this performance. Just sublime.
Prince had no rehearsal with the band for this performance . He only told them he wanted the outro. You can see on their faces that they are just as stoked as we are as he plays. Dhani had a look on his face like. “ I hope my Dad is watching this”💫⭐️EPIC

OMG, one of my favorite performance videos ever. Just love Prince in this.
Everyone was a guitar god until Prince walked on.
"It's like a void inside you that is filling up as it's being played."
Well said. Yes it is. It's a longing.
And for musicians as good as this - as if there are any - to take their respectful time and let it build... Imagine the jam after this show.
Prince was such a great performer, saw him 3 times. He threw his guitar to God to hold for him til he got there 💜💜💜

The first man on the keyboards is Billy Preston who used to play with the Beatles. Steve Winwood is on the organ.
Princes guitar solo beats Clapton's. Wow.
Love the toss up in the air at the end.
The young man to the right behind Tom Pett is George Harrison's son. Dhani. I think pronounced like Danny. Prince's solo is incredible
Until the first time I saw this video I didn't realize how good Prince was on guitar.
Iconic performance from Prince as always, he took the song to another level. My favourite version. Search for him to his lives, he is a genius musician

Loved that George’s son included. Such a great rendition of song. So emotional. Thanks for doing this one. RIP our legends...... 💔

Welcome to one time all EPIC performance... RIP George, Tom, Prince
This is a great performance by true legends. Tribute to George at the Rock & Roll hall of fame. Prince had something to prove. He wasn’t listed as one of the best guitarists in rock. He didn’t even make the top 50. Thanks Hap great reaction 🔥

Love this- George’s son is a clone to be sure. One of my favorites! Everyone is absolutely great!
Prince added depth to it

Many musical legends in one place. That was absolutely amazing. They have Brought us so much magical music into the feels.. They're so missed.
I've seen this before. Prince at the end says "Hold my beer." I'll show you how it's done. Lol. Then finished with a drop the mike moment.
Listened and watched it thousands of times. But never enough to me. Love Jeff, love Tom, love Dhani. But Prince ... ohh ... 😵😵😵 ❤️❤️❤️ can’t get used to that 😍
Prince come, playd, throw his guitar up in the air, and whent og stage……very common from Prince 💜💜💜
Simply Sublime, otherworldly.
Thank you for playing this song...I haven’t heard it for sometime now....it’s a wonderful wonderful song...
While My Guitar Gently Weeps was written in 1968 for the Beatles White album.
Each artist conveys their own emotions through their instrument. Prince told of his own gentle weeping and played with others perfectly I thought. He didn't almost fall off the stage, he laid back to be lifted. It's symbolic.
Stevie Winwood on the organ, fabulous 😍, so much talent on that stage
Loved that you picked out the great job Jeff does with the harmonising for Tom, plus his solo singing was excellent.

I absolutely love this song & everyone on the stage. You were so on point HAP! Such a fantastic reaction! ❤️❤️❤️
As a Minnesotan,I am proud of Prince. Prince's guitar didn't gently weep however it wailed

The young man behind Tom is George Harrison's son, Dahni. This was a beautiful tribute. This song always makes me emotional.
A whole bunch of talent on one stage. Amazing.
Omg, that was wonderful!! Thank you♥️♥️
Really nice reaction. Even it (the reaction) had a calming vibe. Smooth
That's a tearjerker! Loved it!
Awesome reaction to an EPIC performance Hap ❤️ OMG.. so much soulful voices which bring so much emotions .. Thank you!
Prince is just beyond!!!
I’ve never seen you or your channel before right now when I am watching reactions to while my guitar....I have not even watched your reaction yet & I already LOVE you, because I see those walls!! Queen 4ever💜👑
Tell me he didn’t steal the show!! Love you Prince!
Such a nice sound coming out of all these guys. They mix so well out of each other.👍👍💕 hap such a good reaction from you sweetie.💞💞
Complexity in it's simplicity
React to Prince-Diamonds and Pearls best performance live high quality
See the bloke too the left of Tom Petty is George Harrison’s son Dhani. Just a bit of trivia for you. Great song.🎼❤️🇦🇺❤️🇬🇧🕺🏻💃🎸☘️
Love the music.. great musicians ❤️🎶❤️🎶 George Harrison’s son is playing guitar
So sad to lose so many good artists, love this song. Thanks for the reaction.
Peter Frampton and Eric Clampton each have a rendition as well.
☮️💜
Is only one way to describe this one of the most magical moments in music history
All the musician on stage just though they were going to play the original, great song and finish off.
Prince was much like Freddie>>>that song has been done>>Let's one up it and that is what Price did.
Love your comment
George is glad he did. No songwriter wants his music to die. It must evolve.
Awesome reaction.❤️💕
Love this song and performance. Thanks for doing it. That said your camera is being weird in this video. Shaking a bit when you talk.
I'll get that fixed.
Piano-Billy Preston (solo artist) / Organ-Steve Winwood (solo artist) / Guitars left to right / Marc Mann (many bands) Jeff Lynne (ELO) Tom Petty (Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers) Dhani Harrison(George Harrison's son)

It was a George Harrison song from the White album ! this was a tribute to George with his son next to Tom Petty1
Yes bro, it’s a MOTORWAY. 🤣🤣😉👍🏻👍🏻
thank you someone who hears prince in this version
Yes prince! 27 instruments self taught
😀👍❤️✌️🌼
Paul McCartney was on the piano on that song. They showed him a bunch of times but nobody ever noticed him.
Did
Not know prince could play like that
Prince was inspired by Carlos Santana and Jimi Hendrix he liked Carlos Santana because he played beautiful

That is George's son Danhi, beside Tom Petty... Prince gets down playing to Danhi.
The guy you saw at side of Tom is Georges Harrisson soon Dahni, he so like his father, its almoust scary……
Dhani looks just like George when he was a young Beatle! Great talent too, like his dad.
Need to try Styx "Blue Collar Man", "Man in the Wilderness" or any other.
No he wasn’t doing that to them. He was mad because he wasn’t listed as one of the best guitarists. So he was proving them wrong.
@@Terri6868 that sounds about right, knew it was something he was mad about, he was indeed a fantastic player
Best recording of this is by Carlos santana
I like Eric Clapton and Paul McCartney's version of this song from Concert for George better. I love George Harrison!

Prince gives a big f you to rolling stones for not including him as one of the best guitarist.
Thx to George Harrison
