I lost my job during covid and couldn’t make my payments anymore. After the first missed I voluntarily turned it back into the bank. Ended up getting about $400 deposited into my account because it sold for more than I owed lmao
During my 25cyears in the used car business I witnessed many new car dealership sales that you knew before they drove off the lot that they were a future repo.
Like when banks give home loans of 500k or larger to a credit score of 500. Debt slaves.
The problem with all these repos is that if I'm looking at one and find out that it's been repo'd I'll either walk away or cut the amount I'm willing to pay by half. If the previous owner couldn't make the payments then they couldn't maintain the vehicle either.
@Disposable Dad You gotta be very careful buying these cars, I prefer body damage, once these fools are buried in F&I, insurance is the next thing to go. We have resurrected these cars and they are good if you know how to take care of these units during recon.
This episode was a little like when thise guys promise you a 2 night vegas vacation but you have to sit thru this 28 hour sales presentation before you can have fun. Then when the presentation ends you realize you wasted the whole vacay listening to some salesman. DONT DO IT CRAIG...
My neighbor has owned a Buy Here Pay Here lot for decades.
He buys vehicles and does the minimum reconditioning to make them safe and roadworthy.
He spends more on making them flashy with big rims and deep tint on the windows.
He sells them at 29.99% interest and the down payment is usually what he has invested in them.
He has sold Escalades and Navigators with upwards of 300,000 miles on them over and over again after they've been repossessed.
He also takes the people that the vehicles are repossessed from to court to get every dime he's owed.
He has one blinged out Lincoln Navigator which I believe is a 2001 and over the course of its multiple sales and repossessions it is netted him a profit of $80,000.
Not too bad of a rate of return because he paid $6,500 for it years ago.
When people complain that the car he sold them is a lemon or the payments are ridiculous you just said you bought it voluntarily I didn't force you.
I also told you you were free to get a mechanical inspection done on it but you had to pay for it.

Had a good friend who was president of a credit union in a small town in Missouri where we both lived. You never know about repo cars. A hispanic man washed and polished his truck before bringing it to the credit union for repo. A man of another race took a sledge hammer to the car and broke every window and dented every square inch of the Lincoln town car then knifed all four tires.
New carpet new seat cover, wheel and a deep clean and polish and it'll be a nice ride
Carpet can be cleaned with a little bit of Tide liquid laundry detergent or gain laundry detergent FYI it works really good and dry it's really fast Victor from Palmdale California

Most repo's start in the F&I office, the F&I guys can be the most dangerous people in car biz! We buy a lot of repo's; we always go the day before the auction, this gives the grift plenty of time to sabotage the units before running through. I am amazed at the amount some of these folks got buried for! I am a buy here pay here dealer so once these folks get buried, they will be mine or another dealer.

With dod….( friend is a gm tech ) even if u disable it that only buys u a little time u will eventually drop a valve had it happen on my 15 Silverado a couple weeks ago truck only has 22k miles on it but luckily i got the extended warranty

I never bought a good repo car...Always beatup , never maintained..and most of the time bad transmissions & differenentials due to being Incorrectely towed/ hauled away in PARK by the repo guys

I’m a license dealer n I’ve used laser appraiser….Very nice service but it’s extremely expensive….A couple hundred a month for this app is quite Steep
Sometimes the Auction crowd is thin, and people ran out of cash, by the end of the auction day. So you could score a winner, on a late run thru, nobody had any cash left.
The appraising tool was excellent , but there is still an "art" to bidding ,and luck to the bid, like stated above.
I usually put low proxy that hits if nobody bids at original floor. On Velocast you can hard bid and undercut the auctioneers start price if no bidders.

Ppl should know if you have a Tesla and get a flat tire DONT go to Tesla they charge you $120.00 but if you go to Discount Tire they do it for free. You might have to wait a little but it’s free also the replacement of all 4 tires is at 22K miles bc is a heavy car. That’s not counting the replacement of the battery is thousands dollars. So ppl do you research, EV’S are not all out to be🤔
@@guzmancharles7 I’m at 37k miles and on the original tires. You must be lead footed. Batteries have an 8 year warranty on them and are replaced if they lose 30% or more of their charge.

$200 in auction fees on a nearly $13.000 car? Either your numbers are off or dealer auctions have almost no fees. I pay almost 33% in fees at either public auction i go to. I but cheap cars though

There's a 2018 Burb available locally with Buy it Now for $15k. Clean title, but stripped. Nothing works and unknown miles. I wonder how much of the truth the photos show, looks almost complete. Too bad I just spent that money on something that actually drives but older.

Used car prices going down in a hurry. The ride $$$ is nearly over. I'm not in this business but I follow cars-anything. With bank repo you have to investigate more and it may even vary from brand to brand methinks. Some of them were stolen cars , or insurance fraud etc..Low miles cars are very desirable and usually the winners! I like how you are pinging with dollar check signs that is funny

Just wondering what kind of vehicle insurance have you got as your able to drive every car you get in 😁 in Ireland if you’ve “open” insurance you can drive anyones car as long as they are insured on it… but obv when you get a new car the previous owner is no longer insured on it. So just wondering how that works for you?

Hey Craig how’d I do? Purchased a 2007 Denali 2 owner no accidents 130k runs and drives great. Little surface rust on bottom of rear door. I paid 8200 and have been driving it for a week without issues. What’s your opinion?

Repos go on a Carfax & AutoCheck report & loses value same as if it was in an accident. It can take up to 120 days for it to show on a report & may not show at time of auction. Many go to dealer & regular auctions + salvage title auctions like Copart & IAA & sell them to Carvana even though there about to go bust & make a killing as they buy anything except leases.
