Joe is such an honest, realistic top bloke that tells it like it is in the kindest of ways. Even from the pressure of live tv, he's still a cool cat 😎 and so is his awesome store! It's absolutely packed with nostalgic goodness and his honest, realistic nature is reflected in his toy prices! Cheers 🍻
Man you can just tell these mainstream TV types think its a joke and they have no clue what they are talking about trying to make a mockery. Publicity on star wars toys is what makes grifters think every star wars item is worth a fortune being just in it for the money. Glad you explained it in better detail from the fan and collector point of view like how you could get something for £20-30 or even less that would make you as happy as a 1mil boba fett and it's not all about money. Only fans and collectors will understand. I know people who don't collect anything that are quite arogant on the subject until someone explains it to them if they want to listen. Some people just don't understand it at all so it takes some eloquent explanation!!
When she asked "what should we start collecting next" my heart sank. Collect what makes you happy. Speculators ruin every hobby for the real fans. Glad you said as much Joe.
Joe's a TV star! Ish... Anything may be worth what somebody's willing to pay for it, but I'm afraid that some people just have too much money and no shame; that figures gone to an investor, not a fan. At least you had the sense of propriety to look slightly embarrassed when discussing its sale price! Even if I was swimming in dosh, I wouldn't pay a Million Quid for what amounts to a plastic doll, I might as well marry Kim Kardashian, immediately divorce her and stump up the alimony. £1000,000 for a toy...Jesus, get me off this Bedlam planet. 😔😂
Interesting, Value of 400-Ounce Gold Bar Surpasses $1 Million for the first time. I love Boba, but plastic v gold with plastic Boba being worth more seems crazy. Wonderful to see you on the BBC. Well done. 😊👏👏
@@nammis77 honestly I’m glad I didn’t buy it in some ways. At the time I couldn’t afford which would have meant I’d have had to sold it really quick with virtually no profit. aye, congratulations!!! love that you keep spreading that fantastic message that folks need focus on collecting what they like. the investment mentality is toxic. you'll end up with a storage from full of plastic that infuriates you because it hasn't returned an investment like you'd hope. buy and collect what you truly enjoy and you'll never be unhappy! :D
I love that you were disregarding this absurd story throughout this interview. I just wish they also brought an investigative journalist (or somebody qualified) to talk about how auction houses basically lie about the value of things by selling their stuff to money launderers. A perfect example would be that one auction house selling Mario 64 for £1.5million and the controversy around that.
I sold all my starwars, hemans, thundercats, transformers, Lego sets still in boxs scalextric sets and electronic toys and all my 80s games consoles with 100s of games probably worth a absolute fortune about 3 years ago really regret it now but was no point hanging on to it. My parents past away the house needed clearing and I have no kids to give it all to. One of my starwars was a sealed revenge of the Jedi Luke skywalker not return as they changed the name of the film and the toy line after. Loads of sealed hemans as well. Makes me want to cry now.
Feel your pain but sounds like you had a fine collection so that’s something to be proud of. Happy memories hope you photographed them and put the money towards something else you can enjoy ✊
@@SpoonJarFilms yes I have photos kept from selling it all. One guy totally ripped me off he could see I was a novice seller. He said I'm buying it all for him and gave me £200. I had no other interest so took it. Only 15 hours later it was all up on eBay for £500. After that I ended up selling on eBay not Facebook marketplace. I must have had a good 50 he-mans with all there weapons only got about £5 each tho. I cried about castle grey-skull. Sold it and it got crushed on delivery had to refund them £80. My Lego sets sold for about £100 each. I had loads of thos Lego Robin Hood castles sets. My electronic games all tomy ones. I remember reading that if your going to do a collection in the hope that it may be worth something in the future collect something that you personally get enjoyment from as should it never be worth much at least it's not been money down the drain as you had and still get enjoyment from. Personal tip if you collect anything make sure your going to have enough space for that and also is it affordable. So if you collect lego a don't have much room or money better to collect smaller cheaper sets such as speed champions rather than the bigger and more expensive sets.
