Sweet! Rumors has it these were the last 1200 cuban cigars JFK ordered before he signed the cuban embargo.. A bit young you said, so how much years do you recommend to age this one?!
And would you think that the Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure N°2 is the better cuban choice to get instant bang for your bucks that does not need to be aged and is ready to go?! Some people say that all cuban need to be aged for years before smoking, not ideal if you just want a good instant smoke of the shelf.. Also interesting what the price difference was for you, between these two..
i just bought a box of 10 of these
You're absolutely right. That final third is typical underaged Cubans. Respect my authoritaa!
I had a box of 46's that I kept for a year, so I believe they had 3+ years on them towards the end, and the end was _much_ nicer than the start. One of the final ones I smoked was a very positive cigar experience, and I'm certain they wouldn't have minded another year still.
I've yet to get to that sweet sweet spot with Upmann. I recognize that they're not bad cigars by any stretch. A little uneven maybe. Some pretty wild variations with construction and burn among other things, possible signs of overproduction. But they have their own distinct and enticing profile, and I could just sense the potential right under the surface, despite the fact that my very first association with them was eggplant, which I absolutely detest.
I hope to get Upmann in the future. If I am not mistaken, they have been wildly popular in the past, and when cigars are it's usually for good reason. (Another marca that I have the same sort of uncertain/unfulfilled relationship with is Hoyo). Obviously, the problem with that is that Cuba can then ramp up in order to capitalize on the demand, which compromises the quality and makes the brand change for the worse. So maybe I was late to the party, or maybe I'm full of shit, or both. Probably both.
But as long as they are continued, there is hope. I should maybe get a box of some vitola that's gotten recognition and put it away. But there are so many cigars to get,.. I tend to focus on the ones that impress me in the here and now, which is kind of vulgar I guess. Cheers.
Yeah that makes a lot of sense to smoke what you’re enjoying in the moment! The best Upmanns I’ve had are from the 2017 boxes of Magnum 46 which have performed splendidly. I can also hugely recommend the Half Corona (especially for us Northern lads) for the winter months but perhaps you’ve also already tried that cigar!
@@StogieLads I haven't that I can remember... If I am to buy a box and tuck it away, I'll probably go with that one. I quite like small sticks. Thanks for the tip. Edit: Ordered a box of 25 on your recommendation. They're quite affordable. We'll see somewhere down the line :)
@@QualeQualesonhow was it? or still aging?
@@nazaraponasko1580 I got a box date January 21, so that's probably it. I don't remember if I tried it, too many cigars. But probably I sampled it and decided to give it more time still. Upmann is an excellent cigar that's much better after 4-5+ years, no question. Depends on how long the Cubans kept the tobacco on the pile, the size etc. It varies, but bottom line is it ages wonderfully, even better than most other Cubans, who age well in general.
Another great on-point review👏🏻👏🏻 well done 👍🏻
Legend! Thank you so much!
Can you recommend an H.Upmann from Cuba for me…. I have enjoyed Cohiba, and Partagas, Quintero…
For me, there’s three clear candidates. The Sir Winston is the best but very hard to find. The magnum 46 is my favorite regular production stick from them and the half corona is a brilliant option if you want to go with a short smoke!
@@StogieLads Half Corona's are nice. I'll also recommend the Majestic.
Half corona and 54 magnum 😊
Geezer. I enjoy yout discourse. It's half past 6 O'clock in the morning here, and I'm just about to smoke a Vegueros Centrofino with my coffee. Happy Days!
Thank you man! Sounds like a banging way to kickstart your day haha enjoy!
@@StogieLads It was, I had a day off work, and it was nice to spend the first couple hours of the day slowly smoking it. I've really come to rate the Vegueros line, I like the herbaceous creaminess. Cheers from England. All the best, pal.
0:07 what % boveda pack do you us in your tupidor?
nice
could you recommend me a few great mild-medium cuban cigars?
For sure man! Cuban or non-cuban? Maybe shooting us a DM on instagram is the easiest way to communicate!
Finally a Cuban. Please do that more often,I mean reviews with 🇨🇺 cigars!
Haha always try to keep a good balance! Variety is the spice of life!
What does the H. In Upmann stand for and where are you located?
We’re actually two Swedes located in Sweden that run this channel and our Instagram! The “H” in Upmann stands for Herman, as the brand is named after its German banker founder Herman Upmann who created the brand in Cuba in the 1800s!
@@StogieLads thank you so much.
I'll tell you what, you guys really impress me with your knowledge and kindness to answer all questions! Plus you gave me some extra background info on Herman Upmann.. most excellent!
@@BuffaloNickel9 Awesome to hear man!!
I literally will not smoke any Cuban without Atleast 2-3 years of age on them
Im new to cigars, if i buy a cuban for next montj is it not worth it?
Trying to look for an h upmann thats mild and a bit sweet not too harsh that burns good
when it's 'on' the Mag 50 displays the Upmann profile the best of all the Mag series. Give it a few years if you have more.
Gotta age some then! I have a box of 2016 mag 46s that are smoking beautifully right now!
