That quote in particular is supposed to mirror Vader's quote from A New Hope. "Don’t be too proud of this technological terror you’ve constructed. The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force. " They're talking about the same thing, but in totally different viewpoints.
One day everyone achieves what they once never would have believed they could achieve, and then the wisdom of this quote hits them like a ton of bricks.
Well, I sat down with my three year old daughter and started to watch Star Wars with her. She kept saying that the “robots were going to see the man”, then she hid under the table when the jawas showed up. Perhaps a little too soon...hey ho.
He's Quoting Socrates, in typical "Yoda" fashion: To be truly wise, you must understand your own ignorance. There will be things you do not understand, and that's ok. In essence, he's telling Luke that he's thinking to hard about the "reality" that it's a 6 ton X-wing Starfighter, instead of just focusing on the fact that it is merely an object in the Force, same as any other.
That is actually this scene. He says it right after "judge me by my size, do you? When you should not, for my ally is the force. And a powerful ally it is..." I don't know how it isn't in this clip.
This is the difference between the original trilogy and the sequels. The script here is so full of thought and wisdom. Every line that comes from Yoda’s mouth is just so serene and magical. Nothing comes close to this trilogy.
mouhamed lamin I know you are joking. But the joke fails, because this is the teaching of the force, how to control and master it. A Sith learns how to hate and destroy.
I saw Star Wars on opening night back in the 70's. There was a lot of publicity leading up to it, but no one in the theater (full house) really knew what to expect. The people exiting the earlier showing (I was at the 10 pm showing at Fashion Square Mall in Orlando), looked pretty thrilled as they came out, so there was even more anticipation. As soon as the now famous opening played on the screen, the mood in the theater was electric, and it stayed that way until the closing credits, when the place erupted in cheers. No one knew any of the characters, so the whole thing was completely fresh. It was one of those things that stick with you your whole life, and it was really cool to be a part of it.
William Schroeder Man, i wish i could have been a part of that. Unfortunately, i grew up in the 90s and early 2000s. I dont think i need to go into further detail. At least the cartoon series was better though.
I remember my father taking me to see this. The first time we went it was sold out and we had to go again the next day. The atmosphere was exactly as you described. I also remember all the kids laughing at the Canteena scene when they showed the alien looking musicians onstage !
So would 1:05 be the face you make when you excitedly run to the refrigerator hungry for good food, only to open the door and see the refrigerator completely empty?
This scene - this ONE scene - is why Empire is my favorite movie. A simple and inspiring scene elegantly summed up in its two last lines of dialog: “I don’t believe it!” “That is why you fail.”
@@MsAlimajeed It's true. He had to face the consequences of the Clone Wars, which he himself kicked off. In doing so, he learned about how one can learn from failure.
Greatest movie ever. Everything in this film is fukin legendary. This scene still gives me goosebumps. John Williams’ score is so timeless and amazing as well. Just perfect.
you nailed it. AA now has the whole anthology on their on-demand entertainment and I think I've watched it at least four times in the last couple of months on different flights. Episode V is a shining jewel for Williams for sure.
Do you know the name of the piece that plays here, music recognition keeps saying it’s “master yoda speaks” by some dude named killakah even though it’s obviously not🙄
The guy just copied this whole scene and put it as the intro to his dumb album and now I can’t find the music I want. I like all of the Star Wars soundtrack but I want this specific piece. It’s probably either yoda and the force or yoda’s theme but I wish it would just tell me
That line is what carries me in some workouts or projects - the lack of belief and faith in yourself automatically sets you up for failure. However, I can't hate on my man Luke for just being real hahaha Yoda did show him whassap though.
Atif Kamran the thing is luke failed. He failed to lift his x wing and when he left to face vader he wasn't ready and because of it lost a hand and the duel. Luke came back more experienced with the force and his understanding, fashioned a new lightsaber just like a Jedi should as part of their training. He returns to face vader and wins, but using his anger, stopping himself before it consumes him and refuses to let the dark side take over. He goes on to become the greatest force user in star wars canon. Now rey on the other hand, comes in with no skill no knowledge of the force, picks up a saber for the first time and beats kylo and uses the force she doesn't understand to stop him, goes to get training for about 2 days, still doesn't grasp what the force is and somehow master's saber combat, fights and wins again. Then she moves some huge pile of boulders with little effort. The point is she doesn't fail..she has no struggle, everything just happens for her. Now you can't tell me she's gifted in the force Anakin was literally conceived from it, his midiclorian count off the charts, the chosen one. He spent 10 years training and still lost, messed up a few times and lost his saber, didn't think things through just went for it. Luke is half of what he is so yeah no way rey is more powerful just a poorly written character.
Adam Benton I agree with you, but Rey is not relevant here, why bring her up? The person you were responding to said nothing about Rey or the sequel movies, only about Yoda and Luke in this scene and how it relates to real life. Why make a whole rant about Rey when she was never mentioned here? Your criticism is correct, but it's probably more healthy to not think about things that upset you all the time and try to be more positive. When the topic of Rey comes up I say exactly what you said here, but when it's not relevant there's no need to bring it up.
2023 now...after years and years of Star Wars content, this is still my favorite scene of the entire franchise. No CGI, no lightsabers, no crazy action choreography, no space battles. Just a young failing not-quite hero slowly coming to form through a powerful lesson about the force. This scene carries the spirit of Star Wars, and that spirit has been painfully snubbed out.
This scene hits different after watching the clone wars. At this moment every person is counting on Luke, every single Jedi is counting on him to do this. If he fails, so falls everything else. Its up to Luke to save his father when no one else could. This is why this moment is beautiful and impactful to the story.
In this scene we see Luke suffering and training as hard as he can to be a great jedi and he even almost gives up at one point Now in the last jedi Rey suddenly becomes almost as good as Yoda or Obi-Wan with like 0 training Not saying anything about Rey, but the xharacter development in the new sequels is shit compared to the OT
saleh bayram Uhhh WHAT? She is not nearly as good as yoda or obi wan or Luke. All she does in TLJ is take out a few red guys and lift a couple of rocks. All those things can luke already do in this movie. And YES that she beat kylo in TFA was pretty unrealistic but kylo was weak, he wanst in balance so.... But I certanly agree with you that neither the sequels or these goddamn fucking prequels (which are the worst thing ive Ever seen) are as brillant as OT
saleh bayram You don't need training to use the force. It has *never* been "You must train FIRST before you can use any part of the force." I find it hilarious that you think Rey is as good as Yoda or Obi-Wan, just because she beat an injured and emotionally torn opponent, used a mind trick (a technique that padawans can do in their sleep) and lifted some rocks.
@@Jarvis466 you clearly don't know what that sith is. Yes we do need training in order to control the force or the force will control you. That is what a sith is a Jedi who lust for power has taken over them thus giving a chance for the force or at least the dark side of the force to use them. A real Jedi will "control" the force. Yes you don't need training to lift shit around as most sith just abuse the force to get more Powerful but it took training to not let the frustration of failure, the pain of not being good enough and the fear of letting your supperiors down from getting to them. A real Jedi master use the force and a sith lord let the force use him
Geralt of Trivia Yep, and both of those scenes lean solely on the original characters and themselves only. This scene is just so heavy, REAL, and above else original. Nothing in the new movies can spout out an original scene that has genuine heart to save its life
Geralt of Trivia Not sure what ur trying to prove at the start there, I agree one hundred percent. That scene in TLJ WAS great because it had the charming chemistry between Yoda and Luke, and does subtly nod at their past struggles. I just think this 3 minute scene of a 2 hour movie isn’t enough to justify how well it brings the saga together as a whole. And call me wrong, but these new movies have been a directionless MESS that lack any type of genuine heart. It can’t seem to juggle its seemingly bland cast of characters while throwing the characters we love on the back burner. I dunno man, I’m bitter but I’m glad u were able to like the movie regardless
@Geralt of Trivia have u been living under a rock? its pretty much hated by everyone, even the casual SW fan's that TLJ was a complete insult to the franchise. And how is my taste trash? because I'm pissed that I wasted my money on that garbage? do yourself a favour and watch Mauler's series breaking apart why TLJ was pure trash. vid 1: ruclips.net/video/vw7pcCj0ORk/видео.html vid 2: ruclips.net/video/_gRC4L6lNoc/видео.html vid 3: ruclips.net/video/yFnMMzqjYGw/видео.html
I love how in Rebels the philosophy of "do or do not there is no try" is explained finally. For the longest time I didn't understand it then I heard kanan jarrus explain it and it all made sense to me.
Nachfüden Disney hires/pays the writers, producers, directors and you are naive if you don't believe they influence them all to make it more child friendly. If you are going to make a movie produced and published by Disney you better believe it will be in their way. They own Star Wars and everything in it, everything must be approved by them.
This scene and the scene when Vader and Luke talk on Endor are my favorite scenes! Full of wisdom and just good storytelling/writing in such a short amount of time.
After Yoda says, "Judge me by my size, do you? And well you should not." You cut out, "...for my Ally is the Force. And a powerful Ally it is. Life creates it, Makes it grow. Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter! You must feel the force around you! Here, between you, and me, the rock, and the tree, and yes. Even between the land, and the ship!" THEN Luke says, "You want the impossible."
As much as I try to like the Sequel Trilogy, it doesn’t get moments like these where we learn the true power of the force and how it mends the lifestyle of a Jedi Master. It’s miraculous and just gives you a sense of wonder that unfortunately was tossed aside in TLJ and ROS
Yodas advice will help my college journey by teaching me that everything is possible. Nothing is impossible. Everything I do i can’t just try, I have to just do it. I can do anything if I put my mind to it.
what Yoda said in this scene (the whole scene, especially the part that is cut out) is the essence of all esoteric schools, magic traditions, mysticism, and mystery traditions.
I love the essential classic Muppet/Sesame Street-ness of '80s pre-CGI Yoda. Just the whole way the puppet was formed and designed, the movement, the voice from back then, all of that. You just can't get that these days. It's got a sense of organic lifelikeness, liveliness, that went down the tubes along with, well, good movies and TV shows even existing anymore.
Luke is so much like Anakin in this film. He completely grows up by the time of "Return of the Jedi.". The experiences of "The Empire Strikes Back," led Luke to grow up into the man his father was meant to be.
This wisdom is such awesome life advice, but we also see Luke use it. He never moves an X-Wing, but he did something far more impactful. With nothing but faith he walks into the emperor's throne room and left with his life and his father armed with nothing but the faith that Anakin could be saved when all else told Luke otherwise.
Luke is such a noob. Rey could have easily moved the X Wing. With no training either. Then she would have mastered Yodas training in just 33 minutes before flying to Bespin (without the X Wing) defeating Boba and Darth Vader in 7.3 seconds. Next she would have flown to the Death Star, destroyed it with her force eye lazers and then she would have became the force itself and ended all the struggles and hardship in the universe. Luke and his character development couldn't stand a chance.
It's funny how you miss the entire point of this scene 🤦Rey appears "stronger" because she grew up with the myths of the Force and the legendary Luke Skywalker. When she lets the Force in, she believes and looks to the stories she's heard. Luke never had that. He was just a farm boy, blinded by his limited view on how the world works. He didn't grow up hearing stories about any Jedi. In fact, his Uncle probably prohibited anything about that. But I guess you think it's about midichlorians and muh training.
@Geralt of Trivia So, there are more then a few things wrong with your OG post so I'm going to break this down for you. *cracks knuckles*. 1. Luke didn't master anything after Obiwan said those lines...he managed to block a single string of practice blaster bolts...If you are talking about the DeathStar Attack run...I'll get to that in point 9. Debunked. 2. Luke did train between movies, yes I looked it up..(even though the movie outright tells you he did.) Not by Obi-wan, but on his own. It's been 3 years between New Hope and Empire, then another year between Empire and Jedi. We know he becomes a 'Jedi Knight' between the second movie and third...this means he trained. He did so in legends, and in Disney canon...so...Debunked. 3. Yoda didn't train Luke with a Lightsaber because being a duelist is the easiest part of being a jedi. Luke was already trained in hand to hand combat at this point, and practiced with his lightsaber regularly on his own prior to degoba...we know this because he uses a LIGHTSABER FORM IN THE CAVE...regardless yes Vader outclasses Luke, hence why he is toying with his son 100% of the fight. The only time he gets hit is when Luke suddenly tosses out a flurry of attacks...then gets his HAND CHOPPED OFF...remember, Vader wanted him to join him...not kill him. debunked. 4. Phasma gets shit on because Disney marketed her as a badass all important plot driving character, and then tossed her in the literal garbage. All of her 'development' was cut from the movie, she serves no purpose other then to roll over at the first threat of death...then in the second movie, she gets bashed in the face by a Janitor and falls through the moon door. Bobba Fett on the other hand, was NOT marketed, was immediately shown to be a badass when VADER tells him to not outright disintegrate people..we then SEE him outsmart Han and crew, and track them down single handedly. He then captures Han, sells him to the Hutts. What did Phasma do? Yell at Fin and shut down a shield? Right...debunked. 5. So at this point Luke is considered a 'Jedi Knight' even by Yoda...so the skill gap is marginal, but still in Vader's favor. However, during the final fight, Luke taps into the darkside...rages at Vader, disables him, just like the Emperor wanted...and then rejects the Darkside. Remember that Vader didn't want to kill his son at all, he wanted him to join, so unlike Luke he isn't going for the kill at this point of rage. There is no reason why he wouldn't win at this point. Younger, fully trained, and using the darkside. While a large part of fights are about 'heart'...or your connection to the force. This was earned through 4 years of training...and his opponent being conflicted aswell as USING THE DARKSIDE...(Rey never did that shit...) Debunked. 6. Luke was raised on a moisture farm...on tatooine...and was CONSTANTLY raided by Sand People. You think Owen wasn't going to train Luke how to use a blaster at least a little? Also Luke never makes any crazy blaster shots so I'm not too sure what you are pulling this from? The DeathStar escape has long been known to have been a setup, to allow the empire to find the hidden rebel base. So...no they didn't 'outclass' anyone. Leia flat out says they were allowed to escape. Also Stormtroopers have always been a joke. Legends was the thing that said 'oh no they are elite troops'. Debunked. 7. Flawlessly changes weapons? Can you only use one tool? Is this really an issue for you? Really? Let me break this down for you...this isn't a video game, people can be skilled at more then one tool, ie a lightsaber, and a blaster. A blaster being one of the MOST COMMON TOOLS IN THE GALAXY... debunked. 8. Effortlessly guns down tie fighters...did you not see his focus? His nervousness? How close Luke was to being killed in the OG DeathStar attack? (Assuming this is what you are taking about) He is smiling for a few reasons... its his dream to be a pilot like this, (Id have an ear to ear smile if I could fly an x-wing) He just saved his friends who are being shot at by Evil, planet destroying space Nazis... Lets not argue wartime morality here, you will lose. Debunked. 9. Luke for 19 years has lived on Tatooine, BULLZING WAMRATS WITH HIS T-16. HAVE YOU NEVER WATCHED THE FUCKING MOVIE? He flew beggers Canon and was considered the BEST BUSHPILOT IN THE OUTER RIM. Like really, did you not watch A New Hope? Yes, he used the force to enhance his reflexes...just Like Anakin, Id have no issue if that is all Rey did, but it's not. Despite all this, Red Leader still questions Luke's ability and Biggs needs to vouch for him. So... Debunked. 10. Yes, while lifting rocks is all a placebo you still need to train to do it. Rey didn't train. Notice how there was an entire part of Empire teaching Luke the lesson "Size matters not" He attempts to lift his x-wing...fails, then Yoda shows him how to do it. THIS NEVER HAPPENS FOR HER. She just *poof* knows how to lift rocks with her mind. 11. Rey is never established as a pilot. (I made sure to go back and watch Awakens to be 100% sure) Scavanger dosn't = Pilot. Now, granted, the force grants people enhanced reflexes, so she has that going for her. 12. Being a scavenger vs being a farmer is probably the most moronic comparison you made on this. Hell if you had said. "Oh we don't know if she practiced on the falcon because we don't know her relation to Unkar Plut." I'd be like..."Okay...you might have something there." But to say...Nah she is a scavanger of Captial ships...this means she be a good pilot of mid/small ships is idiotic. Luke flew in a t16 skyhopper, it's size and mobility was very similar to a fighter, hence why Luke was a good pilot. Ontop of his force enhanced reflexes. 13. Luke survives the trench run because Han saves him... Wedge survives because he bugs out when hit, and then one random Y-wing makes it, all covered by the Falcon. Unsure of your issues here? Luke is considered the best bushpilot in the outerrim territories, and has force enhanced reflexes...but STILL needs help. Remember how Anakin was the ONLY human who could podrace? Yeah...like that...but less extreme. 14. Rey for some reason know more about the Falcon...then Han Solo.. This is just retarded, no amount of scrapping Imperial Capital ships would grant her the knowledge to outsmart Han when it comes to his own ship. Period. 15. Um, Jabba and Watto are both characters that have survived through the Clone wars...where the Jedi were...like...super important, and legendary. Luke on the other hand grew up in a time where the Empire went out and ERASED all stories of the Jedi from the Galaxy. Similarly the stories in Disney's movies have also become less popular then they were in the Clone Wars...they are considered myth...and legend, where as Jabba and Watto both PERSONALLY INTERACTED WITH JEDI. Jabba on several occasions. Hell Rey even asks if Luke is a real person. So no her 'knowledge' won't give her diddly squat any more then Obi-Wan's history lesson to Luke. 16. Lets give Rey a 'head start' for argument sake. LUKE DOESN'T FIGHT ANYONE WITH A LIGHTSABER FOR 3 FUCKING YEARS. Rey fights a trained Kylo. (By Luke and Snoke) Less then a week after leaving Jakku. Then in Last Jedi she fights an entire room of highly trained, Imperial guard knock offs...and wins. Remember no time passes between those movies, they are at most 1-2 days apart, and she spends at most...a week with Luke? (I'm being generous with time for you because it's so stupid.) In conclusion. You clearly know about as much Star Wars as a 90's baby who enjoyed Caravan of Courage, so I'll leave you with this. Before you jump on here and question the people who actually know their Star Wars, watch the movies. Frankly, I don't care if you like the new movies or not. You wanna enjoy swimming in a pile of shit, fine, have at it. But you insult the OG Star Wars, and it's true fans. You best be ready for an asskicking kid.
"Luminous beings are we. Not this crude matter." It's true. So very true. "The greatest teacher failure is." - Yoda in TLJ. In the Last Jedi Yoda is explaining that not even the legendary Luke Skywalker is immune to failing. I love all Star Wars movies.
Yoda speaking to Luke:.."Mmmmmmh. Years from now, NOT be in shitty sequel, you must not. Toys and merchandise rotting on shelves because choices made. Yesssssss...."
“Unlearn what you have learned.” Luke’s focusing too much. Power of the force is like a smooth river. He must keep his calm, keep his balance of the light and dark.
The thing with Star Wars these days are they're too modernised, Star Wars has always been a classic saga. Not just that though, there's nothing really wrong with them being modernised but to say that they are Disneyfied, too youth orientated with their cheesy bits of story telling. That is why they have no clarity, that is why they fail.
Rawer The thing with Disney is their profit margin exceeds exceptionally well through selling merchandise and displaying high entertainment value, being a multi billion or even trillion dollar company allows them to make cracking crisp special effects and outstanding cinematography without the worry of exceeding their budget. Their profit probably comes from mostly selling merchandise and screenings which pleases children which is why their movies are now more youth orientated (i mean, why wouldn't you aim more towards an audience who help break the box office). The Star Wars originals were classics with bold story telling and an amazing soundtrack, now because Disney have now bought the rights to Star Wars we now get a completely watered down experience compromised by popcorn-flick style action and fake heroes. I know i'm too biased with this but it helps me understand why people dislike what Disney have done to the franchise or todays cinema in general. Me myself, the only thing i like from disney are Pixar, they do well and their movies have clarity. Yes, i have an interest in Marvel too. Just my opinion, i know.
Everyone loves to complain. The Force awakens was pretty much an updated version of a New Hope (down to old mentor dying and cool looking villain doing nothing) and ppl were bitching how similar it was The Last Jedi tried something new and then ppl bitching about how they want "Old Star Wars". The problem is the prequels were never that good. It just started popularising Fantasy heroes and "Chosen Ones", at the time revolutionary 30yrs later super cliche
I won't lie, Exogal (however it's spelled) looked damn impressive. That's the kind of stuff I wanted to see in Episode 7 though. Not the end of the trilogy. That's about as much praise I can muster for that RoS, though.
Yoda to Luke "Size matters not. Look at me. Judge me by my size do you?" Yoda's way of telling Luke he needs to banish his doubts and believe in himself and his abilities
I always find it amusing all the people who miss the point in Yoda's words. Before the line you're highlighting Yoda tells him "Try Not. Do or Do not. There is no Try." In that he is saying you either believe or you don't believe. The "trying" is you having doubt and thus you don't do it. But I always get people saying it makes no sense the attempt is the trying. Which is them, like Luke, completely missing the point. Odds are they have also probably never experienced that zen moment when working on something. Where all your worry, self doubt, and fear of failure fade away and you just do it. This could be anything from playing an instrument, preforming on stage, writing a story, practicing a sport's move, and so on. When you hear people talk about how the world just fades away and in that moment they were focused only on the task at hand and things just flowed so naturally, then you know they have had that zen moment.
Gerald Rowan Not really. Midi-chlorians are not what makes a Jedi powerful. It's just that they are the reason some people are able to communicate with the Force while others can't. And even if that were not true, Vader's line "the Force is strong in this one" from the very first movie implies that some people are naturally more favored by the Force than others. Luke even said "the Force runs strong in my family", which implies that his connection to the Force is also a hereditary trait. And the prequels never implied that faith was irrelevant.
TLJ wasn't horrible. It was kinda… Meh. Now Last Skywalker. Now *_that_* was bad. Formulaic as hell, predictable, and added a bunch of new powers that weren't seen before.
w_smmh It’s cause he looks real and tangible. The CGI version just dehumanizes him, even though he’s a magic alien. Wasn’t too keen on TLJ but bring back the puppet Yoda was dope

I remember my father taking me to see this. The first time we went it was sold out and we had to go again the next day. The atmosphere was exactly as you described. I also remember all the kids laughing at the Canteena scene when they showed the alien looking musicians onstage !
I too remember the magic of the first film's opening back in 1977. It was like nothing else I've ever seen in a theater.

This scene - this ONE scene - is why Empire is my favorite movie. A simple and inspiring scene elegantly summed up in its two last lines of dialog:
“I don’t believe it!”
“That is why you fail.”
That is why you fail.
Yoda: The greatest teacher, failure is.
...Rian!
Silver Arrow that and r2d2 stupid bleeps and blips
@@MsAlimajeed It's true. He had to face the consequences of the Clone Wars, which he himself kicked off. In doing so, he learned about how one can learn from failure.
Greatest movie ever. Everything in this film is fukin legendary. This scene still gives me goosebumps. John Williams’ score is so timeless and amazing as well. Just perfect.
I agree. I couldn't stop smiling during the whole movie
you nailed it.
@@_chew_ he prolly just needed somewhere to rent and utube is More chill than reddit that place is hell
I hear you brother
Disney sucks.
This scene hits different after watching the clone wars. At this moment every person is counting on Luke, every single Jedi is counting on him to do this. If he fails, so falls everything else. Its up to Luke to save his father when no one else could. This is why this moment is beautiful and impactful to the story.

"Do Or Do Not...There Is NO Try!"
"Only a Sith deals in absolutes..."
Palpatine: Dew it
Luke: I don't believe it!
Yoda: That... is why you fail.
This was my introduction to concept of faith.
Holy shit, when he delivers that line after luke said he didnt believe it I teared up a bit.
In this scene we see Luke suffering and training as hard as he can to be a great jedi and he even almost gives up at one point
Now in the last jedi Rey suddenly becomes almost as good as Yoda or Obi-Wan with like 0 training
Not saying anything about Rey, but the xharacter development in the new sequels is shit compared to the OT
saleh bayram Uhhh WHAT? She is not nearly as good as yoda or obi wan or Luke. All she does in TLJ is take out a few red guys and lift a couple of rocks. All those things can luke already do in this movie. And YES that she beat kylo in TFA was pretty unrealistic but kylo was weak, he wanst in balance so....
But I certanly agree with you that neither the sequels or these goddamn fucking prequels (which are the worst thing ive Ever seen) are as brillant as OT
saleh bayram
You don't need training to use the force.
It has *never* been "You must train FIRST before you can use any part of the force."
I find it hilarious that you think Rey is as good as Yoda or Obi-Wan, just because she beat an injured and emotionally torn opponent, used a mind trick (a technique that padawans can do in their sleep) and lifted some rocks.
lmao forgot padawans can do mindtricks. Any evidence???
@@williamtate843 well kanan can do mind tricks and technically he's still a padawan because he didn't finish his training. But honestly I do not know
@@Jarvis466 you clearly don't know what that sith is. A real Jedi master use the force and a sith lord let the force use him
0:22 For some reason I always misremember this quote as “No! No different! Only in your mind is different!”
Nothing in the new Star Wars movies touches this. Sad
@Geralt of Trivia TLJ was pure trash
Idk man, I liked it when Yoda confronted Luke for the last time in TLJ. There’s a lot to uncover there.
@Geralt of Trivia have u been living under a rock? its pretty much hated by everyone, even the casual SW fan's that TLJ was a complete insult to the franchise. I love how in Rebels the philosophy of "do or do not there is no try" is explained finally. For the longest time I didn't understand it then I heard kanan jarrus explain it and it all made sense to me.
This is how you make a Star Wars movie Disney!!!
Yeah take off your nostalgia goggles and let's turn Star Wars into Mary Poppins.
Chicken Nuggetmaster360 no one hates feminist propaganda worse than I, but TLJ Just wast feminist propaganda
Disney doesn't make Star Wars, they market it. It's just baffling that people think Disney makes Star Wars just because Lucasfilm is their subsidiary.
Nachfüden Disney hires/pays the writers, producers, directors and you are naive if you don't believe they influence them all to make it more child friendly. If you are going to make a movie produced and published by Disney you better believe it will be in their way. They own Star Wars and everything in it, everything must be approved by them.
The Ghost of Flekk Bone Gnawer But LucasFilm makes movies. Disney only has rights.
This scene and the scene when Vader and Luke talk on Endor are my favorite scenes! Full of wisdom and just good storytelling/writing in such a short amount of time.
After Yoda says, "Judge me by my size, do you? And well you should not."
You cut out,
"...for my Ally is the Force.
And a powerful Ally it is.
Life creates it, Makes it grow.
Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter!
You must feel the force around you!
Here, between you, and me, the rock, and the tree, and yes.
Even between the land, and the ship!"
THEN Luke says, "You want the impossible."
As much as I try to like the Sequel Trilogy, it doesn’t get moments like these where we learn the true power of the force and how it mends the lifestyle of a Jedi Master. It’s miraculous and just gives you a sense of wonder that unfortunately was tossed aside in TLJ and ROS
The ultimate force flex and the ultimate lesson.
Yodas advice will help my college journey by teaching me that everything is possible. Nothing is impossible. Everything I do i can’t just try, I have to just do it. I can do anything if I put my mind to it.
"You must unlearn what you have learned" is my favorite line.
Yes. It was said by the funny little man named Bruce Lee.
“Size matters not”
Hits home
what Yoda said in this scene (the whole scene, especially the part that is cut out) is the essence of all esoteric schools, magic traditions, mysticism, and mystery traditions.
"Size matters not"
- Yoda, 3 ABY
Rian turned this guy into a cackling, giggling, jovial 15 year old from the nether regions of the force.
"No different, only in your mind." Yoda, Empire Strikes Back.
"You're a Jedi, boy! Size means nothing to you!" Rahm Kota, The Force Unleashed.
Keva the Half-Kestora love those games
The new Star Wars have only deepened my appreciation for the classic trilog:, this is cinema magic; and John Williams' score is just perfect.
You must unlearn what you have learned for those who don’t know Yoda is telling Luke to unlearn the bad habits he learned.
truly inspiring😝
I still remember this scene when i was 4 years old... Oh the memories...I was amazed
I love yoda
Not only sometimes he’s funny, hes wise, kind, knows what’s right and not
I forget how phenomenal the music was in Empire, Incredible
Fail or success, there is no “I did my best”.
Who else had to play that back 10 more times. Man you feel that one..
Triggered....
@@halleck3 Disney sheep
That's why rey is boring at least Luke develops over time.
(I'm being generous with time for you because it's so stupid.)
In conclusion.
Try not! Do or do not, there is no try!, always loved this bit of wisdom and have lived by it

Checkmate, atheists.
When you find someone's lack of faith disturbing, you'd better back it up with a proper force choke. Then it's checkmate. Otherwise it's empty words.

Yoda: A better student is what I need ;) :)
"Luminous beings are we. Not this crude matter." It's true. So very true.
"The greatest teacher failure is." - Yoda in TLJ. In the Last Jedi Yoda is explaining that not even the legendary Luke Skywalker is immune to failing. I love all Star Wars movies.
One of the most powerful scenes of a film packed with powerful scenes !
One of the best Star Wars scenes on film. Better than any of the contrived Mary Sue Rey scenes!

There is just so much wonder and awe in this scene! its so simple and not much happens but they way its made just makes it so grand and amazing

what a magical moment. I love the music when Yoda lifts Luke`s ship
Ep IV, V, and VI. Still the best ever.
For a movie with such a simple moral system as light side and dark side it really hits hard with the great wisdom it contains.
This whole video is better then the last jedi.
The orchestra in this movie is still so..damn..phenomenal.
I want this Star Wars back. Not this new trash that came out.
Rawer It doesn't matter then.
Star Wars should have ended in 1983.
This gives me some serious chills. This is fucking magical man
Tell me one time that the sequels made you feel this kind of magic and wonder. I’ll wait.
I won't lie, Exogal (however it's spelled) looked damn impressive. That's the kind of stuff I wanted to see in Episode 7 though. Not the end of the trilogy. That's about as much praise I can muster for that RoS, though.
“Chewie, we’re home!” That’s it sadly…..
Master Yoda has been my favorite since I was 5 years old...
Yoda to Luke "Size matters not. Look at me. Judge me by my size do you?" Yoda's way of telling Luke he needs to banish his doubts and believe in himself and his abilities
Master Yoda, have you ever had a big real woman? You can do all you want, all you shall accomplish is a good try. You can't do it with no size.
@@u.v.s.5583 But I try not. I do, or do not. There is no good try!
I live my life by the Wisdom master Yoda has splashed out over the years and I've never been more happy
PyroMancer2k I agree. Luke does say "I don't believe it.", which Yoda replies "That is why you fail."
Ah, you're talking about The Zone...
The flow. The source of my knowledge. We are in a great age.
This is the scene that legit changed my life … 🫡
the greatest quote in all movie history
original trilogy: the power of faith can do amazing things
prequels: lol its a bunch of microorganisms in your blood
Gerald Rowan not at all, its just the means to sense it
Gerald Rowan Not really.
Gerald Rowan what about Disney?
+Daniel Urdaneta Disney doesn't make Star Wars. They just distribute it.
Nachfüden So is there any chance to watch a new Star Wars movie comparable to the old saga in terms of quality?
“I can’t, it’s too big” - Luke Skywalker
Watching this again made me wish we could’ve seen Luke pull up his sunken x wing in the last Jedi.

Yoda's words definitely can apply to us in life definitely
good morning brother. & so..... the force awakens!
2:44 - I still say that is one of the most beautiful shots in cinema history
man i need to rewatch these after the atrocious last jedi
What was wrong with the last Jedi?
Andrew K Channel quite a bit actually. But contrary to what most haters say I actually like the direction that luke's character was taken
@Stratowind That's the worst part, there is 25% of a good movie in there, buried amongst heaps of garbage.
@@cjua2803 I know this is 2 years later but. Are you on drugs?
TLJ wasn't horrible. It was kinda… Meh. Now Last Skywalker. Now *_that_* was bad. Formulaic as hell, predictable, and added a bunch of new powers that weren't seen before.
The score for this scene is incredible!
Failure is our greatest teacher, so we won’t learn to make the same mistakes over and over.
Shove that Rian Johnson garbage up your ass.
Kind of a contradiction to his quote of, "do or do not, there is no try."
Like making a movie like TLJ
There’s something ab this non cgi yoda that makes it so special
w_smmh It’s cause he looks real and tangible. The CGI version just dehumanizes him, even though he’s a magic alien. Wasn’t too keen on TLJ but bring back the puppet Yoda was dope
