As a Brit who races IRL, I can give some feedback on the UK circuits.. Croft, I’ve never raced at, but I imagine on iRacing, safety ratings would end up negative! Some of the chicanes are totally single file. Mallory Park is underrated, flows really well but might not work on sim quite as well. Rockingham is a car park, don’t even bother. Thruxton is honestly one of my favourite circuits. It’s a brutal challenge of bravery in real life. But having driven it on AC, it’s so forgiving and you can get away with murder. Driving the circuit is honestly so scarey but equally rewarding, can’t recommend it enough. It would just be difficult to translate that feeling to iRacing where you can just get a tow back to the pits

@@CharlieBird15 if they still have the Historical scans from Rockingham then rebuilding it to CART spec and maybe getting together Lausitz to roll a 90's CART car would be amazing to see and I'd be all for that kind of thing. The Indycar fans seem to always get the short end of the stick because NASCAR is still what iRacing seems to be catering too most. Though I bet that's been going back the other way for a good bit.
PBIR/Moroso was not used as a drag strip. it was built along side the drag strip. the track was also frequently used as a driving school for open wheel racers. (PBIR was my home track before it closed in 2022)
it's surprisingly easy to break into rockingham today. and I use the word "break" loosely, all you have to do is climb some old tyre barriers and open the gate at the very back of the track. when i last went there it seemed like they repainted the walls and road lines, so it seems like the current owners still want to do something with it. if you're ever in the area you should check it out.
If they added Utah i’d love them to add the nitro rallycross layout Also, there is a way better rockingham mod for ac made by legion that’s on his blog, if you’re interested
Willow Springs was also one of the first tracks that was supposed to be on iRacing from day one of iRacing. It was on iRacings very first website as a track that was available
I'd love to see Thruxton, those super fast flowing road circuits are my favourite - yeah it doesn't help overtaking and yeah it's arguably less technical but give me a super high speed corner where bravery and commitment makes the difference over a chicane any day! Willow Springs isn't a track I'm familiar with but it looks fun too.
According to John Hindhaugh during the Nurburgring 24 hours last week Rockingham UK's doing events again, so if things go right it could be back on the radar.

It is owned by Cinch, a car retailer similar to Carvana in the US, and they are unsure whether they want to spend the necessary money that would be needed to reopen it back to official racing as the circuit never did turn a profit under its previous owners
I was just about to turn a profit but only £300k or so in 2018 before it closed. The original owners knew it would take time but they weren't patient enough.
It's a shame that so many tracks have been closed down and demolished, especially if the tracks were closed due to corporate pressure or morons who moved right next door to the track then complained about the noise.
I still don't understand how the noise complaint is taken seriously especially when the track is there first. Suburbs always have a dog barking or lawn mowers mowing. Hardly a quiet environment.
I believe iRacing has a scan of the Waterford Speedbowl. Steve Myers Tweeted out some images from what looks like an early in-progress shot of it saying they use it to train iRacing production staff, but it won't ever be properly built and made into the sim.
I can confirm Mallory Park and Croft both have Rallycross tracks, I have watched it at both Also I would love to go racing at Rockingham in an F3 car, I watched from the grandstand as one fliped at the first chicane, she got out and walked away
The problem with the oval at Rockingham, UK is that it hasn't been used for any high profile events for many years (same with Lausitzring) and it's configuration. Being a four turn trapezoid with different banking and corner radii, it's not as simple as most of the other 1.5 tracks. Look at the poor popularity (or lack of) of Concord amongst short tracks. I'd love to see it there (as more tracks is always good) but I wouldn't expect the oval to get much use.

I'd love to see Rockingham UK on iRacing. It's not like big ovals get built (or reconfigured) very often so running big oval stuff on iRacing becomes kinda samey after a while and this track would add some variety. On the other hand it'd probably only get run in official once a year during the winter so unfortunately I do understand why iRacing don't consider it worth adding as much as I'd love to race it.
Why would they spend time and money on something nobody wants just to release it free when they could spend that time and money on something people want and actually recoup their money?
Moroso aka Palm Beach International Raceway is my local race track. i miss it dearly and efforts are still being made in the car community to save it. we never call it Moroso it’s called commonly PBIR

I heard from a private source that has a connection with the county…Palm Beach International Raceway isn’t coming back but a new track is going to be built out on 20 Mile bend off of Southern Boulevard 👀
It would be awesome if Miller Motorsports Park (Utah Motorsports Campus now) would be added. I raced on the track back in the day and it's awesome to drive on IRL. The guy (old man Miller) built it to get an F1 contract but the same year he built it is when F1 pulled out of the US and it never gained any traction. It probably also never gained traction cause it's in a tiny town called Tooele which is like an hour outside of Salt Lake City and has only a single two lane road in and out.
I live in Salt Lake and go out there fairly often. The area around the track is slowly building up into a residential area as the growing population of Salt Lake continues to develop outwards. Obviously F1 now is EAY too big for this and its a real shame we lost the Pirelli World Challenge due to track leadership changing, but I love this track and really enjoy driving it on AC
Other than Willow Springs (Gran Turismo 7), the only other track that has game representation today is Utah, having been included in Ride 4 and I'm assuming 5 will have it as well
Well, the UK ones have shown up in UK centci games. Codies ToCA series has had Croft, Thruxton et al, Rockingham is in Live for Speed, and Utah also showed up in the WSBK games from Milestone as well. IIRC Mallory's the od one out and not shown up in much though. Didn't Moroso show up in that Top Gear US special, the one in the South or something. I now want Langhorne in more sims for the lulz, it's only ever been in one or two games hasn't it? Literal left tirn all the way in PA yes
I remember a Dale Jr Download episode where he mentioned the iracing crew were at the door to scan Winchester Speedway, however, there was a last minute disagreement and the crew instead went to Anderson Speedway and scanned that track. No idea on if there will be a release.
Miller is mostly flat but not completely. There's actually a decent little elevation change section on the outer loop through witchcraft and the attitudes.
If they ever scanned my home track of Evergreen Speedway I would drop way too much money on a PC setup. I currently play Gran Turismo on PS4 with a home built rig with a Logitech G29. Evergreen Speedway has a 5/8 mile big oval with between 7 and 8 degree banking a 3/8 mile small oval that has around 10 to 12 degree progressive banking, several roval and road course layouts and even a figure 8 course.
I wish they would add Salem Speedway from Indiana, lots of big time name have and continue to cut their teeth on that track. As well as it’s sister track, Winchester.
Okay the fact that Moroso was on this list shocked the hell outta me. I live 20 minutes to the abandoned raceway and I hope to get it reopened someday! Locals including myself are still fighting with the courts in attempt to get it reopened but tbh it won’t be worth reopening because ever since it was abandoned in early 2022, the decay has been pretty bad.
I think the "relevancy" argument is just plain ridiculous at this point. I look at it from a historic preservation factor and as a value-added content factor. The one thing iRacing could always benefit from is more tracks. With a track that no longer exists the argument can be made that since there's no more current ownership, the venue is now basically a license-free facility that IRacing can add. In fact, this has been a benefit with existing facilities like Lanier and USA International where they not only kept them in the track as additional short tracks that are beneficial to the asphalt short track scene, but actually made dirt track conversions of them to add to the track roster. I would argue that tracks like Rockford (Illinois) Speedway, which is on the brink of being leveled, would be a huge benefit to IRacing to scan as it would provide a historic bullring (1/4 mile; something that also is ridiculous that IRacing lacks... Rockford, Anderson [IN], Slinger [WI] all come to mind - all feasible considering the 1/4 mile dirt tracks that are already in that have paved the way for these to be included as well) to add value to the asphalt late models, sprint cars, midgets, etc. that can compete there in-game and of which there's a respectable short track community of fans that would love to see them preserved for forever. Much as IRacing put forth the effort to preserve North Wilkesboro without any guarantees of it being reinvested in and brought back to NASCAR to race on... to me it makes even greater arguments for the tracks in this video. If you have access to the content and licensing isn't really the issue, then... release the content or at least talk with the new owners to see if you can fix the licensing issues to release them as well. That's my take. With racing in some capacities shrinking as urban expansion happens, having additional facilities to perpetually fill out a sim racing track list IMHO are invaluable and they also help preserve the culture those events had and left behind. If you have the point clouds and the means, make it happen. The only thing lacking relevancy is sitting on cloud or mesh data or refusing to scan venues when you are the one thing standing between them being purely history. One of my favorite tracks closed back in 1995 (Santa Fe Speedway, Willow Springs/Hinsdale, Illinois) and it is one of my goals/quests to get a version of it built for a dirt oval racing game going forward where modding is feasible. I would kill for the ability to have laser scan data of that facility but alas, it closed long before that was remotely a dream basically in the gaming world. So eventually I'll sit down (or pay someone) with a 3D modeler and make it as close as I can based on reference photos and Google Earth and my knowledge/memory. That said, I feel I'm not alone in feeling like EVERY track holds value and that IRacing is ridiculous if they don't see that.
2:23 Nitpicking, but those aren't Tour Mods, those are "Gulf Coast" Modifieds which are fairly popular in the deep south. Tour Mods refer to modifieds that specifically speaking, could race in NASCAR's Whelen Modified Tour series. Which the Gulf Coast cars are not. 4:16 Also, Palm Beach Raceway did host one ARCA race, so it had that going for it. It was an interesting road course for us here in Florida. It's too bad it closed but it's hard to compete with tracks like Sebring and Daytona and even Homestead's roval.
Another good video topic would be scrapped cars and series. I know that iRacing even had a deal signed with SUPER GT to have an officially sanctioned series like they did with Grand Am and Indycar, but they couldn't get enough data for the Honda HSV.

I got to drive at the Utah Motorsports Campus in 2017 when I spent a day at the Ford Performance Racing School for the ST Octane Academy. Even though it's a bit complicated, I forced myself to memorize the East Course before we went on track. (I'm glad I didn't have to memorize the full circuit lol.) Since then, the Ford Performance Racing School has moved to Charlotte Motor Speedway, but it would be neat if iRacing added this course out in Utah so I could reminisce. It was fun to drive! Also, this was my first time learning about Rockingham UK and I would absolutely love to try that oval in a stock car!
Croft is a phenomenal race track, we'll never see it in iracing since it's part of the BTCC and Motorsport Games have their grubby hands on that license. Luckily it's 30 minutes away from me and I get to marshal it at least once a month.
someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember reading on the old forums that iRacing did scan seekonk speedway in massachusetts (only about an hour south of their office) but never released it because it doesn't have a pit road inside the track. and I'm still butthurt even if that isn't true over the fact that iRacing doesn't have their home track on the service
This isn’t really related to this video, but do you know why Iracing hasn’t ever scanned Portland? I was kindof excited to get to try the track out this week with Class B, but to my dismay, the track doesn’t exist on Iracing
Being a native of the area, I heard rumblings of the city of Portland not allowing iracing to scan the track. Which would be very in brand for the Portland city government
Croft, Thruxton, fits with their recent additions of knockhill, and fits well with donington, brands. for Formula V/1600/ TC / similar racing. but this is all foreplay for the want of Goodwood Circuit. ;-)
There are more tracks that iRacing talked about, but never released. - Moran Raceway - X1 Outdoors - Briggs and Stratton Motorplex - Plantation Valley Kart Track (VIR) - Willow Springs Kart Track They also talked about a car called the XV8R SuperSaloon
Rockingham and Thruxton, absolutely. But to be honest I starting on iRacing with the fact that it would be lidar tracks and highly detailed. You'd think that they'd just want EVERY track on earth......
If Mallory Park was a base-content track with the left-turning oval available (look up Mallory Park Eurocars if you're stock car racing fan who wants to see something out there) then it would be a good addition and would make a fun curveball on certain schedules; but if it wasn't base content and didn't have the left-turning oval layout then it would be a very weak choice of addition
Update on Rockingham; Rockinghams grandstands still remain. Cinch have stalled plans to hold racing again, which requires planning consent in the UK. They still use the track for videos and I will continue to badger iRacing. Also Live For Speed has a lot better graphics for the accuracy as they used LIDAR back in 2008. Its still a lot better than the mod you used on the end of the video.
Rockingham has so many track options used to go for the ASCAR and pickups races. Saw CART there twice 2001/2. Thruxton is legendary, Malory Park had a series in the 90s which was the UKs first attempt at NASCAR. For me the oval that would be good is the old Nazereth Pensylvani
By the way, Virtual Racing Cars; a modding team that specializes in IndyCar and Sports Prototypes but has also branched out to Modern & Historic Trans-Am and Super-Touring, have a better version of Willow Springs than the version currently on Race Department; featuring overhauled visuals, more detailed track surface and even the Streets of Willow layout not available elsewhere.
Mallory closed for a while didn't it so they could ad in noise proofing, but it's back, and still as good as ever. Thruxton I'm not sure would work in a sim though, Rockingham (UK) is back doing events going by the N24 coverage, and Croft is one of my fave tracks but good luck with the chicanes. on the note of troll chicanes...Enna Pergusa, anyone?
Utah/Miller is a bad track, It's on RIDE4 and it's almost impossible to learn without constantly forgetting where you are on the circuit because there's absolutely no peripheral references. Palm Beach on the other hand is a great track, easy to learn and actually quite fun
I heard tell that the owner of the Utah Motorsport Campus wanted to extend the track up into the mountains, making it into an American Nürburgring. I hope it happens.

Utah Motorsports Campus is a dream for me. Its in my hometown and my whole life Ive dreamed of a NASCAR or Indycar race. There have been a few arca west races there but they dont seem to be returning anytime soon. To know iracing scaned it nearly a decade ago but didnt do anything with it is disheartening but hopefully one day they will add it! Im not huge into dirt road racing however I know that their rallycross configuration is one of the best. So maybe one day iracing will find it worth it for that reason alone
iRacing not adding something or having something in game that isn't relative? That is a joke, right? They have the Ford GT3 that while it existed, only raced like two races ever. They are at very minimum 3 generations behind on the McLaren GT3 car. There are at least 3 currently running GT3 cars in the real world that they have yet to add while they have added their very own Formula car that has never run a single race in the real world. Relavance has nothing to do with what they do.
i live basicly next door to rockigham speedway (2km) and does seem like Cinch may think about having racing there as they have redone all the marshall post and they have Cinch covers for the 2 stands that are closed due to them reportedly sinking. the only problem i see with rockingham hosting races is that they have a limited amount of loud days due to the amount of noise made and people who live in gretton complaining abut the noise
The UMC scan doesn’t have most of the elevation change the IRL track has. We have a sim at work and got UMC in Assetto, and it’s insanely flat compared to the real thing
While I'd love to see some of these added, none of them would be even remotely popular enough to be that worth it for iracing, they'll be comparable to Sandown or Winton sadly
Rockingham UK is likely best represented on Live For Speed with a S3 License. Honestly YeeJ if you want to give it a proper try let me know. I'm not using my LFS License anymore

Exactly the reason it should be added. Its different. Why add more of the same over and over again.
Yeah its a challenge but the ASCAR races were awesome.

Yep I saw those as well! I based this video mostly on what I could get footage in AC for haha. But they will be covered in the future

If there is not much demand, they can release the tracks as free content
The problem is dev time, they'd rather use dev time for more in demand projects

Been to Montgomery Motor Speedway before, and I definitely think it deserves a spot in iRacing. The racing almost always is really good at MMS.

Other than Willow Springs (Gran Turismo 7), the only other track that has game representation today is Utah, having been included in Ride 4 and I'm assuming 5 will have it as well
Well, the UK ones have shown up in UK centci games. Codies ToCA series has had Croft, Thruxton et al, Rockingham is in Live for Speed, and Utah also showed up in the WSBK games from Milestone as well. IIRC Mallory's the od one out and not shown up in much though. Didn't Moroso show up in that Top Gear US special, the one in the South or something.

I remember a Dale Jr Download episode where he mentioned the iracing crew were at the door to scan Winchester Speedway, however, there was a last minute disagreement and the crew instead went to Anderson Speedway and scanned that track. No idea on if there will be a release.

If they ever scanned my home track of Evergreen Speedway I would drop way too much money on a PC setup. I currently play Gran Turismo on PS4 with a home built rig with a Logitech G29. Evergreen Speedway has a 5/8 mile big oval with between 7 and 8 degree banking a 3/8 mile small oval that has around 10 to 12 degree progressive banking, several roval and road course layouts and even a figure 8 course.
I'd love Evergreen too, even though I've lived in Washington my whole life I've actually never been there!

Okay the fact that Moroso was on this list shocked the hell outta me. I live 20 minutes to the abandoned raceway and I hope to get it reopened someday! Locals including myself are still fighting with the courts in attempt to get it reopened but tbh it won’t be worth reopening because ever since it was abandoned in early 2022, the decay has been pretty bad.

I think the "relevancy" argument is just plain ridiculous at this point. I look at it from a historic preservation factor and as a value-added content factor. The one thing iRacing could always benefit from is more tracks. With a track that no longer exists the argument can be made that since there's no more current ownership, the venue is now basically a license-free facility that IRacing can add. In fact, this has been a benefit with existing facilities like Lanier and USA International where they not only kept them in the track as additional short tracks that are beneficial to the asphalt short track scene, but actually made dirt track conversions of them to add to the track roster. I would argue that tracks like Rockford (Illinois) Speedway, which is on the brink of being leveled, would be a huge benefit to IRacing to scan as it would provide a historic bullring (1/4 mile; something that also is ridiculous that IRacing lacks... Rockford, Anderson [IN], Slinger [WI] all come to mind - all feasible considering the 1/4 mile dirt tracks that are already in that have paved the way for these to be included as well) to add value to the asphalt late models, sprint cars, midgets, etc. that can compete there in-game and of which there's a respectable short track community of fans that would love to see them preserved for forever.
Much as IRacing put forth the effort to preserve North Wilkesboro without any guarantees of it being reinvested in and brought back to NASCAR to race on... to me it makes even greater arguments for the tracks in this video. If you have access to the content and licensing isn't really the issue, then... release the content or at least talk with the new owners to see if you can fix the licensing issues to release them as well. That's my take. With racing in some capacities shrinking as urban expansion happens, having additional facilities to perpetually fill out a sim racing track list IMHO are invaluable and they also help preserve the culture those events had and left behind. If you have the point clouds and the means, make it happen. The only thing lacking relevancy is sitting on cloud or mesh data or refusing to scan venues when you are the one thing standing between them being purely history.
One of my favorite tracks closed back in 1995 (Santa Fe Speedway, Willow Springs/Hinsdale, Illinois) and it is one of my goals/quests to get a version of it built for a dirt oval racing game going forward where modding is feasible. I would kill for the ability to have laser scan data of that facility but alas, it closed long before that was remotely a dream basically in the gaming world. So eventually I'll sit down (or pay someone) with a 3D modeler and make it as close as I can based on reference photos and Google Earth and my knowledge/memory. That said, I feel I'm not alone in feeling like EVERY track holds value and that IRacing is ridiculous if they don't see that.
2:23 Nitpicking, but those aren't Tour Mods, those are "Gulf Coast" Modifieds which are fairly popular in the deep south.
Tour Mods refer to modifieds that specifically speaking, could race in NASCAR's Whelen Modified Tour series. Which the Gulf Coast cars are not.
4:16 Also, Palm Beach Raceway did host one ARCA race, so it had that going for it. It was an interesting road course for us here in Florida. It's too bad it closed but it's hard to compete with tracks like Sebring and Daytona and even Homestead's roval.

Another good video topic would be scrapped cars and series. I know that iRacing even had a deal signed with SUPER GT to have an officially sanctioned series like they did with Grand Am and Indycar, but they couldn't get enough data for the Honda HSV.

I got to drive at the Utah Motorsports Campus in 2017 when I spent a day at the Ford Performance Racing School for the ST Octane Academy. Even though it's a bit complicated, I forced myself to memorize the East Course before we went on track. (I'm glad I didn't have to memorize the full circuit lol.) Since then, the Ford Performance Racing School has moved to Charlotte Motor Speedway, but it would be neat if iRacing added this course out in Utah so I could reminisce. It was fun to drive! Also, this was my first time learning about Rockingham UK and I would absolutely love to try that oval in a stock car!
Croft is a phenomenal race track, we'll never see it in iracing since it's part of the BTCC and Motorsport Games have their grubby hands on that license.
Luckily it's 30 minutes away from me and I get to marshal it at least once a month.
someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember reading on the old forums that iRacing did scan seekonk speedway in massachusetts (only about an hour south of their office) but never released it because it doesn't have a pit road inside the track. and I'm still butthurt even if that isn't true over the fact that iRacing doesn't have their home track on the service

Being a native of the area, I heard rumblings of the city of Portland not allowing iracing to scan the track. Which would be very in brand for the Portland city government
Croft, Thruxton, fits with their recent additions of knockhill, and fits well with donington, brands. for Formula V/1600/ TC / similar racing. but this is all foreplay for the want of Goodwood Circuit. ;-)

If Mallory Park was a base-content track with the left-turning oval available (look up Mallory Park Eurocars if you're stock car racing fan who wants to see something out there) then it would be a good addition and would make a fun curveball on certain schedules; but if it wasn't base content and didn't have the left-turning oval layout then it would be a very weak choice of addition
Update on Rockingham; Rockinghams grandstands still remain. Cinch have stalled plans to hold racing again, which requires planning consent in the UK. They still use the track for videos and I will continue to badger iRacing. Also Live For Speed has a lot better graphics for the accuracy as they used LIDAR back in 2008. Its still a lot better than the mod you used on the end of the video.
Rockingham has so many track options used to go for the ASCAR and pickups races. Saw CART there twice 2001/2. Thruxton is legendary, Malory Park had a series in the 90s which was the UKs first attempt at NASCAR. For me the oval that would be good is the old Nazereth Pensylvani

By the way, Virtual Racing Cars; a modding team that specializes in IndyCar and Sports Prototypes but has also branched out to Modern & Historic Trans-Am and Super-Touring, have a better version of Willow Springs than the version currently on Race Department; featuring overhauled visuals, more detailed track surface and even the Streets of Willow layout not available elsewhere.
Mallory closed for a while didn't it so they could ad in noise proofing, but it's back, and still as good as ever. Thruxton I'm not sure would work in a sim though, Rockingham (UK) is back doing events going by the N24 coverage, and Croft is one of my fave tracks but good luck with the chicanes. on the note of troll chicanes...Enna Pergusa, anyone?

Utah/Miller is a bad track, It's on RIDE4 and it's almost impossible to learn without constantly forgetting where you are on the circuit because there's absolutely no peripheral references.
Palm Beach on the other hand is a great track, easy to learn and actually quite fun

Utah Motorsports Campus is a dream for me. Its in my hometown and my whole life Ive dreamed of a NASCAR or Indycar race. There have been a few arca west races there but they dont seem to be returning anytime soon. To know iracing scaned it nearly a decade ago but didnt do anything with it is disheartening but hopefully one day they will add it! Im not huge into dirt road racing however I know that their rallycross configuration is one of the best. So maybe one day iracing will find it worth it for that reason alone
iRacing not adding something or having something in game that isn't relative? That is a joke, right? They have the Ford GT3 that while it existed, only raced like two races ever. They are at very minimum 3 generations behind on the McLaren GT3 car. There are at least 3 currently running GT3 cars in the real world that they have yet to add while they have added their very own Formula car that has never run a single race in the real world. Relavance has nothing to do with what they do.
i live basicly next door to rockigham speedway (2km) and does seem like Cinch may think about having racing there as they have redone all the marshall post and they have Cinch covers for the 2 stands that are closed due to them reportedly sinking. the only problem i see with rockingham hosting races is that they have a limited amount of loud days due to the amount of noise made and people who live in gretton complaining abut the noise
The UMC scan doesn’t have most of the elevation change the IRL track has. We have a sim at work and got UMC in Assetto, and it’s insanely flat compared to the real thing

While I'd love to see some of these added, none of them would be even remotely popular enough to be that worth it for iracing, they'll be comparable to Sandown or Winton sadly
