Thank you for another simple remedy for a common problem. You’ve already saved me hundreds with the windshield washer pump and then this thigh support gear, which is essential for a taller guy like me haha. Keep up the good work Doc.
Bravo, Dean! Funny how there's always some shit in the fold between the seat front and the thigh extension, no matter what!!! Drives me nuts on my 1er.
Question...I have an E60 M5...getting ready to replace both idle control valves, and throttle actuators. I have seen a couple videos on this, don't recall anyone disconnecting the battery...no need to? If so, how long can I leave the battery disconnected? Thoughts?
I’ve got a Bmw e60 535d. The driver seat is electric and it does not allow me to go back all the way but goes forward all the way. Any suggestions on how to fix issue?
Yo Dean, I was wondering, what's your take on N52 and M54 engines running on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG)? I see quite a lot E60, E39 and E53's running LPG here in Germany and The Netherlands and I was curious towards your opinion.
running lpg over a decade - it just works like petrol, buy decent gear - like BRC and PRINS and be happy about driving cheap. there are no problems with valves burning or something similar
I have an 04 530i and i get a trans malfunction acceleration reduced?. I was told the solenoids could be the reason and I’m going to replace them , what do you think could be the reason and i also get and engine oil pressure warning occasionally then it says systems ok? Im up to date with maintance and service.
Completely unrelated, but is there anything I can do to my E90 325d before I leave it standing at my work for 7 months? I'm going away, it's going to be stood in a car park doing nothing. On my bike the alarm has a winter mode which doesn't drain the battery, is there something similar on my BMW? No option to hook up a trickle charger unfortunately
Hi, I appreciate everything you do , can you please review the ds18 100amp , to see if it’s good for bmw programming as a power stabilization.. I heard through a forum that this is good for programming..
I need help! My e60 2006 diesel automatic doesn't go to sport/manual mode.. everything else works fine. I have opened every wire that normally gets broken but everything is working and switches does work too. I had my car checked in bmw specialist and they didnt know either what was wrong..
Hi @BMW Doctor, first of all I wanna thank you very much for your impressive knowledge! I learned so much about my car and I'm happy always when you post new videos! I just wanted to thank you and to give you an advice it would be nice if you would invest in an camera head mount so that you have free hands when you are showing us how to work on the car. It will improve the quality of your videos a lot. Anyways you are awesome! Best regards from Luxemburg :-)
I feel you right there, But the last time I used a head mount people moaned about that and said they couldn’t see clearly what I was doing, that’s why I stopped using head mounts. I must say this video was not the best position to be with a camera under a small section of the seat, but I tried to show as much as I can.
@@BMWDoctor carpenters: "you never have enough clamps in the shop!" youtubers: "you never have enough mounts in the shop!" ;-) Well when you have head mounts don't forget to use fish eye lenses. It will make the field of view much bigger and easy for you to get everything on the vid.
How do you fix the extender motor for the seatbelt on the e92 series I check fuse is good idk if it’s the motor or the little pin that gets stuck help!
What the hell? You weren't kidding huh, I didn't even know this part was electrical until I saaw this video. I was just pulling it out manually just like you said.
I am having a problem with my seat memory. I can adjust everything, but it won't take to memory. Is this a issue within the seat adjustment panel itself. Or is the issue someplace else?
Turn your car in but don't start it. Once to your seat is where you want it, press the M button, it should light up red. Then press 1 or 2 and the red light should turn off. If that doest work then the module needs to be replaced
Thats what everyone believed thats why I did this video ! I bet if you go and check you have a button many will just leave it and not even fix it, But thats not the way to do things thats called being cheap.
Na, it's manual with a handle on the front, even the seat moving forward and backward are manual, the only thing electronic is the seat height adjust and seat back recliner. Still, a very informative video Dean👍
Well not every bmw... e38 and e39 have a different system there - one central metal rod attached to a metal cog and good plastic sliders - a much stronger design so i believe a proper fix will be to replace a metal cog there or a better material than that plastic witch will brake again shortly. Hopefully a 3d printed cog or a lathed metal cog will be better than the original. I don't think is a poor design or a mistake, they did it like this on purpose, controlled maintenance or calculated wear whatever they call it they knew that piece will brake and when it will brake and I will be surprised if there is a part number for that cog only, most likely the entire assembly for 100$ or so if not the entire seat...
Ah that's what that's buttons for 🤭 I ain't gonna fix mine. It'll probably break again. I have a Mondeo aswel and there's plastic cogs that have broke in the seats also. Why use plastic???
@@BMWDoctor I dont know much about e60 but in the us the e90 se trim seats dont have thigh support at all. Only the M sport cars have it. The seats can come with electrical adjustment or completely manual. My sport seats dont have the switch panel on the side, no heat,no memory, no bolster adjustment either. They have levers to adjust them foward back, up down and the back rest is also a lever and they have the occupancy sensors for the airbag system only. But I like them this way much better. To me they look sportier this way and I don't have to worry about the motors or switches going bad. They weigh a little less too. Latter e90 models were also equipped with active headrests and side airbags in the seats for more safety. I have taken apart fully equipped e90 seats and it's crazy how much technology is in them along with all the parts and wires etc. It makes me love the manual ones even more. Thanks for the video Dean I appreciate it.

Why not use a fully metalic piece instead of puting a plastic cog again?
Great vídeo btw.
Very helpful video but do you have a link on EBay to bug that gear?
Great tutorial man.
Question Is it popsicle to replace headrest motor.
Hi Dean, it is excellent video, but please tell me how can I find the plastic gears on Ebay, what are the dimensions of the gears.
Thanks
Bravo, Dean!

Mario what’s going on bro ain’t seen you around for ages 👌 glad to have you back here commenting.
Dean, please send a link where can we buy this plastic gears
Mine is manual because my e90 has the manual m sport seats. I love the manual adjust seats better.

I have the e60 (2007) 520d auto M Sport. Mine don't have a motor. There's a flap for moving it manually.
How to fix electric part of the seat?? Not sure if buttons are faulty or module.. How to check it to make sure? My seat is heated and cooled
Well illustrated Dean 👍
How do you repair the common restraint seat fault on an e60?
Where can I find your details to book a repair? Learned loads from your videos being a new bmw owner.
Fully Booked till end of year !
Where do i buy the gear?

Well, not “every BMW owner”. Not everyone has this model of seat. That said, nice tutorial.
Everyone has this seat my friend, If they don't then what kind of model BMW are they driving ? As all my BMW's have this and never had any without it.
