Yep, there's happy go lucky stuff like this, dance dance dance and jungle love, then a little darker stuff like the joker, take the money and run, then some downright dark content stuff like the stake.
With their huge catalog of great hit songs is there any doubt that Steve Miller deserved his induction into the Rock n Roll Hall Of Fame? I was so happy when he was finally inducted!
When I bought the greatest hits in 78, I didn't think much of it, but now that radio wore out the big hits for me, Wild Mountain Honey has become my favorite Miller song
I agree with "Dance Dance Dance" especially the live version from Chicago ruclips.net/video/R38kHXcjCKU/видео.html You just have to stop it once he starts talking about the guitar because the video ends before he finishes the story.
I don’t know how you ever got that notion! He was so popular that I didn’t know a person that hasn’t heard of them nor did anyone dislike them! Most all his concerts were sold out! (at least in the central & southwest part of the states)
You guys are wading through like 50 years of solid gold hits. You are so lucky. And you only have a few thousand more to listen to! Trust me there is so much more to come.
Man it doesn't seem like it's been that long ago!! Great googly moogly!! 🤣 I remember when hundreds of 70's music debuted on the radio! Well i'll take my 70's era when I was a teenager over any other era because it was sooooo much fun!!
This is one of the songs that the University of Wisconsin ALWAYS plays during the “5th Quarter” after games. Steve Miller was born in Milwaukee and is a UW alumni so that is a way they honor him. Love Steve Miller from a Wisconsinite!
From the 1977 album, "Book of Dreams", this was the 2nd biggest hit from the album. It reached Number 17 on the Billboard Hot 100's. A song about a man trying to convince his girl to come out for a fun night, forgetting about everything else. The infectious drum/bass riff is so enjoyable, the guitars are rockin and the vocals telling the story keep you interested. Great reaction. Buckets of Maple Syrup love from Canada ❤️❤️ 🇨🇦🇨🇦
Mr. Chill...Steve was my boss back from 1984 to almost 1986. I worked on his beautiful ranch near Williams OR, and it was just me and an older guy working there. What a place that was he had...I loved it.
You're right. He deserves great respect for his talent and showmanship. 20 years ago an old friend went to see Steve Miller play at a local casino. He said it was a fabulous show, with Miller playing several different guitars that were lined up in a row onstage. A super talented man who will turn 80 this fall. BTW, he is a longtime friend from youth with Boz Scaggs, who you reacted to months ago (Lowdown, Lido Shuffle).
Gotta agree with on Abracadabra. “Silk and satin, leather and lace. Black panties with an angel’s face”. Never in the history of mankind have a dozen words fueled the dreams of so many teenage boys in the 70s and early 80s!
I saw him at an outdoor amphitheater and he opened with this. 22,000 people all singing "oh Oh, oh oh oh Oh Oh oh oh" greatest, funnest concert opening EVER!
This is the quintessential 70s song. After all of the drama of the 60s, this song typifies the "lighten up and be happy" vibe that took over the 1970s. One notable thing about a lot of Steve Miller Band songs is the innovative use of synthesizers, mixed in with the typical rock instruments. They were willing to experiment but never let the techno stuff overwhelm the songs.
Saw Steve Miller Band in 2019, still killin' it. Was photographing the show so could only stay for the first 3 songs and then out... had me wishing I had purchased a ticket so I could stay for the rest of the show. So good.
The drummer, Gary Mallaber, just shines on these two albums (Book of Dreams and Fly Like an Eagle). He is a session drummer who has played on tons of hits. I just love the drumming on this and other songs on these two albums.
Swingtown is a very chill song with lyrics about enjoying the moment before it passes but musically it feels like a nostalgic moment that has long passed, especially at the end with the synthesizer and blowing winds. Even as kid before I was even old enough to have a sense of nostalgia, it always made me a bit wistful and sad. I never could understand why until I got older. But that feeling always stuck with me and still does every time I listen to it. This wistful everlasting feeling of nostalgia is probably why this is one of my favourites.
If you ever get a chance to go to a Steve Miller show you will be amazed by how the whole crowd knows the words to every song it sounds amazing with 25,000. Voices all singing at once. I have lucky enough to see well over a dozen shows all over the states but nothing compares to my home town Red Rocks in Denver Red Rocks need to be on everyone bucket list
Steve Miller Band is one of those mysterious bands. All of these hit singles yet Steve Miller could walk into a Starbucks or Walmart and nobody would recognize him. This one is great. If you love Steve Miller and Paul McCartney I recommend “My Dark Hour”. It’s an early one of his where Paul plays bass and drums and sings backing vocals.
Buffalo born drummer Gary Mallaber came up with the opening drum beat while he was in the Buffalo State marching band. He was also the studio drummer and percussionist on the early Eddie Money albums.
I remember seeing Steve Miller here in Phoenix Arizona in the early 80s the band puts on a great show one of the best of laser light shows I have seen..
Steve Miller paid his dues. I saw him in 1966 in the Steve Miller Blues Band when Boz Scaggs was a member and later in 1974 as the Steve Miller Band with Boz Scaggs as the supporting act.
Fun Fact: Les Paul crated the Gibson Les Paul electric guitar and he was a Friend of Millers Dad and became Steve Millers godfather. A great influence on him.
The Steve Miller band is the most underrated bands of the 70s. There was so much talent at the time some of them just slipped through the cracks. They're not the only band but they're the best of those bands to slip through the cracks.
Guys the Steve Miller Band are touring this summer! I have seen them a few years ago and they were really good live!! We must see these bands of the seventies who are still around before they are not…
For some really laid back Steve Miller check out Winter Time, very chill (no pun intended, well maybe a little) you can even hear the winter wind in the background.
Saw them live a few days ago - they were great! And who knew Steve Miller was funny? Have been waiting ~30 years for a chance to see them, it was worth it!
One thing about Steve Miller songs, no matter how simple they might seem, for someone wanting to learn guitar and even intermediate players, they've all told me he's one of the hardest ones to learn to follow along with. I know it was for me and I was lucky enough to play on the road with some bigger acts and Steve was my guitar idol that I listened to a lot. Even knowing his songs my whole life, I was really flown for a loop with the complexity he has as you break the songs down and really listen.
Steve Miller was born in my Hometown of Milwaukee and enrolled at University of Wisconsin. During that time he played with the Ardells and the Fabulous Knight Trains and played at venues around Milwaukee and Madison. Boz Skaggs joined him for 3 years at this time.
More mandatory Steve Miller Band: "Living in the USA" with its killer harmonica intro - his earliest hit from 1968; "Take the Money & Run" a fun story song with a drum intro that will stay with you forever; and "Wild Mountain Honey" with its sweet synth-work. They've been previously mentioned & worth mentioning again. 🙂
Proper curation of Steve Miller’s canon should include his amazing early period. “Livin in The USA”, “Space Cowboy” , “Wild Mountain Honey” are all standouts
You mentioned The Cars. Speaking of The Cars I would love to see you do two songs of theirs that most people listen to as one song, Shoo-Be-Do and Candy-O. They're both short songs so if you listen to them as one song it totals up to a little over 4 minutes. Shoo-Be-Do has an intense electronic vibe while Candy-O is one of the hardest rocking songs they ever did.
There are so many great bands who somehow didn't make whatever cut the industry tried to impose. Steve Miller Band is one of those. The Guess Who is another.
The Steve Miller Band is like a box of chocolates.
-yuk- xD
That 👆
Excellent description 👍💞
@sunnystormy what kind of defective human abhors chocolate? 😂
Yep, there's happy go lucky stuff like this, dance dance dance and jungle love, then a little darker stuff like the joker, take the money and run, then some downright dark content stuff like the stake.

Peace, Love!!
And when Steve told the hall of shame what they truly were! Thanks, Guys!
The Hall of Lame is a colossal joke, and doesn't deserve Steve Miller and the Band.
They need to drop Rocknroll from their name
Dude, I love your avatar! WMMS in Cleveland was so instrumental in the early days of rock'n'roll.
Doubt anyone else will recommend this gem: WILD MOUNTAIN HONEY, sweet synth sound from Steve Miller.
I was honestly just thinking of that song!!!
I recommend Wild Mountain Honey lol
When I bought the greatest hits in 78, I didn't think much of it, but now that radio wore out the big hits for me, Wild Mountain Honey has become my favorite Miller song
Just made a comment as well , along with Winter Time✌❤
Love that song
Everybody owned this album Book of Dreams and Fly Like an Eagle! Great stuff!!!
Pretty cool how he wrote both albums at the same time
I sure did, I might even still have it , in my closet 🤭
@mike Yes, I think a lot of the basic tracks for Book of Dreams were recorded during the Fly Like an Eagle sessions.
They were originally going to be a double album, but they later decided to split it into two.
@Souris Voleur yes, you can tell that they have a similar feel, like Part A and Part B. It was probably wise to do them separate. They both sold well.
"True Fine Love" "and "Dance Dance Dance" are underrated gems that were on the same album as this song.
What about Winter Time and Wild Mountain Honey
And The Stake
And, "In the wintertime'?
@@playmeri Absolutely!!!! As soon as I read this, how could I have forgotten !!!!!!
I agree with "Dance Dance Dance" especially the live version from Chicago ruclips.net/video/R38kHXcjCKU/видео.html You just have to stop it once he starts talking about the guitar because the video ends before he finishes the story.
Back in the ‘70s readers of Circus magazine seemed to always vote Steve Miller Band the most underrated music act.
-underrated is so overused-
Wow...Circus magazine! Read it religiously!
I don’t know how you ever got that notion! He was so popular that I didn’t know a person that hasn’t heard of them nor did anyone dislike them! Most all his concerts were sold out! (at least in the central & southwest part of the states)
@@sunnystormy4973 Thank you! I cringe every time I see it. 0:25
One of my all time fav bands fun and great harmonies!
Steve Miller had a hit song on the radio pretty much every week back in the 70s.
My favorite Steve Miller song I would say it is his best song
Steve Miller kicked a@$ in the seventies. Cruising tunes loud and proud! This one is from the album Book Of Dreams 1978.
Great memory of dancing to this with my mom when I was 9 back in the '70s (8-track!)
Love Steve Miller Band ❤They were one of my favorite bands 🎶
You guys are wading through like 50 years of solid gold hits. You are so lucky. And you only have a few thousand more to listen to! Trust me there is so much more to come.

I’ve been to a lot of concerts in my life, and Steve Miller was the absolute best of all of them. What a show! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Steve Miller was one of the best concerts I ever went too.
Agreed!
I love all their songs- Swingtown and Jungle Love are at the top! You have to hear Jungle Love! Love it!
This is actually my favorite of Steve Miller.
Seen him in concert where there had just released “jungle love” the concert ended with the song keep on rocking me
What an awesome time
Gotta agree with on Abracadabra. “Silk and satin, leather and lace. Black panties with an angel’s face”. Never in the history of mankind have a dozen words fueled the dreams of so many teenage boys in the 70s and early 80s!

I saw The Steve Miller Band play at Jones Beach in NY in the ‘90s. Danced the entire concert. Come on and dance!!❤
Steve Miller is great and one cool dude!!! The Steve Miller band has a lot of great music!!❤
One of my favorites. We did an acapella cover in vocal jazz in college and I still just rock out to this over a decade later
this was Steves best album. every song could have gotten airplay. It had three songs in the top 40 at the same time.
This is the quintessential 70s song. After all of the drama of the 60s, this song typifies the "lighten up and be happy" vibe that took over the 1970s. My fave Steve Miller song! Love that hidden disco beat!
Same!!!
This band has a bunch of great songs. My favorite would have to be jungle love
Steve Miller Band, another awesome group from the 70's.
Back in 1968, The Steve Miller Band had a song titled "Living in The USA"
I've had the pleasure of seeing The Steve Miller Band in concert about four times in my life and Dance Dance Dance is one of my favorite songs.
I love that song so much!
Saw Steve Miller Band in 2019, still killin' it. Was photographing the show so could only stay for the first 3 songs and then out... had me wishing I had purchased a ticket so I could stay for the rest of the show. So good.
Yup. Wild Mountain Honey! That shows just how diverse and wonderful the Steve Miller Band can be.
We get to see them in concert in September. Beyond excited to see them!!
The drummer, Gary Mallaber, just shines on these two albums (Book of Dreams and Fly Like an Eagle). He is a session drummer who has played on tons of hits. I just love the drumming on this and other songs on these two albums.
Steve Miller was known as "Stevie guitar miller"!
His uncle was the one and only les Paul yep the inventor of the les Paul guitar!!!
Swingtown is a very chill song with lyrics about enjoying the moment before it passes but musically it feels like a nostalgic moment that has long passed, especially at the end with the synthesizer and blowing winds.

Thanks for the laugh, Talking Heads! Perfect.

Love the intro where they add each instrument to the harmony in succession
Absolutely love this band
Steve Miller is just so talented and eclectic.
I remember seeing Steve Miller here in Phoenix Arizona in the early 80s the band puts on a great show one of the best of laser light shows I have seen..
Steve Miller Band is always outstanding.
Steve Miller paid his dues. I saw him in 1966 in the Steve Miller Blues Band when Boz Scaggs was a member and later in 1974 as the Steve Miller Band with Boz Scaggs as the supporting act.
You cannot help but move and sing along to Steve Miller band songs!
Fun Fact: Les Paul crated the Gibson Les Paul electric guitar and he was a Friend of Millers Dad and became Steve Millers godfather. A great influence on him.
The Steve Miller Greatest Hits album is a must have in anyone's collection.
We must see these bands of the seventies who are still around before they are not…
Stevie Guitar Miller, Steve's godparents are Les Paul and Mary Ford, yes THAT Les Paul
Next Steve Miller? May l suggest "Mercury Blues" for a pleasant deep- dive? 😎👍
Wipeout by Surfaris! Drums and Luca!
I saw this band, the entire crowd sang along with every song. What a great show!
Another side of Steve Miller awaits you..."Dance, Dance, Dance".... you'll love the playfulness!
I remember learning to drive on a 1972 VW Microbus with Steve Miller playing on the 8 track player. Thanks for the memory.
Saw The Steve Miller Band play a few times and they always looked like they were having a blast!
For some really laid back Steve Miller check out Winter Time, very chill (no pun intended, well maybe a little) you can even hear the winter wind in the background.
This was the first track in my family’s jukebox in 77. Great memories
When I saw Steve Miller in 1990 he opened with this song....it was so great! Too bad you reacted to the shorter radio version though.
This song was BIG at the Skating Rink's and everyone showing off their Dance skills on skates. Boogie Down 👍
The Steve Miller Band is UNABLE to make bad music.....their catalog contains hit after hit after hit. Banger Band...Banger Tunes always.
Checkout their songs: wild mountain honey, jungle love & dance, dance, dance
Saw them live a few days ago - they were great! And who knew Steve Miller was funny? Have been waiting ~30 years for a chance to see them, it was worth it!
One of the great guitar intros!!

As a drummer, you appreciate the work by other drummers, and the pitch on the drum set perfection
Steve Miller had 5 or more of the biggest hits in the mid to late 70's.
One of my fave Steve miller band songs
We saw them last year and it was amazing! The whole venue was singing when they did this song!❤❤
Like “Three Dog Night,” always a crowd pleaser!
Love Steve Miller Band. 😊
Steve Miller Band “The Stake.” Excellent.
You can't go wrong with Steve Miller Band! ❤
Whoa oh-h-h-h-h-h-h oh-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h. Definitely Friday night, going out dancing music! Love it!!! Great drums!
One of the coolest things about Steve Miller is his godfather was Les Paul: the inventor of the electric guitar!
BOOK OF DREAMS-STEVE MILLER BAND was tremendous! 2 perfect sides 👍!
I always love the drums in Steve Miller Band songs!
One of the greatest drummer writers with this and "Take the money and run"
Steve Miller was born in my Hometown of Milwaukee and enrolled at University of Wisconsin. During that time he played with the Ardells and the Fabulous Knight Trains and played at venues around Milwaukee and Madison. Boz Skaggs joined him for 3 years at this time.
I was lucky enough to see the Steve Miller Band twice.
The drummer Gary Mallaber was a huge contributor to their success. Iconic parts and incredible groove.
There is still a slow-n-psychadelic side of Steve Miller too. Try "Winter Time" or "Wild Mounton Honey".
Steve's an excellent guitarist and has been doing it a loooong time! His history in music I found out is very interesting!
I didn’t expect to see this! This song is one of my favorites! So fun! Would love to see more of this band
I have fond memories of opening the car windows and blasting this song as soon as the snow melted
The legendary Steve Miller. My favorite cut is "Livin' in the USA". I hope you play that one someday. Nice rocker.
That’s probably one the best songs by Steve Miller Band
Proper curation of Steve Miller’s canon should include his amazing early period. “Livin in The USA”, “Space Cowboy” , “Wild Mountain Honey” are all standouts
This song was Steve's concert opener for years. Each player came out as their part began. Pretty cool. Please try ""Living In The USA".
Somebody get me a cheeseburger!
#1NJ Fan here. Happy Birthday to me!!! Thank you for continuing to do this band. Awesome reaction guys. Now I'm going to go listen to them, thanx
You mentioned The Cars. Speaking of The Cars I would love to see you do two songs of theirs that most people listen to as one song, Shoo-Be-Do and Candy-O. Just listen to their first two albums and enjoy!
They first album is one of the best debut albums ever, not one bad song on there!
My favorite song by Steve Miller Band was In the Wintertime.
There are so many great bands who somehow didn't make whatever cut the industry tried to impose. Steve Miller Band is one of those. The Guess Who is another.
Back than whenever we had get togethers music was always a big part of it and i remember no one complained when Steve Miller was played
