I finished building mine about 2 weeks ago, and stuck it next to my Elmyra 2 in a spare skiff case. Really enjoying getting to grips with it and seeing how the 2 play together. The bit where to plug the Rings into it was brilliant - that's next on my list of things to try out.
Your videos are both informative and lusciously beautiful. I bought one after listening. I’ve been feedback using verbos delays, harmonic oscillators and Fiamma with great results. With gratitude and respect!
Btw. your tip for tuning the looper speed with a reference root recording was excellent! Same as the whole video. No talking, only useful information, no yada yada and great sounds. Thanks!
So the kit, is it all THT? The Owl board is clearly covered in SMT and I don't know how to do SMT. If I remember correctly, Befac doesn't even bother to identify the resistors by value and suggests you figure them all out on your own using a multimeter. If they ship this kit like that, it would be well worse than a curse.
@@Tofu_Pilot I bought the preassembled, but I recently saw a video where someone built it in 5 hours or so. I am not sure, but I think the OWL comes as a unit. If you see the image in this video with the ARM chip I can't imagine you'd had to solder it yourself.
@@Tofu_Pilotall through hole, Owl is fully built, the five hour build guy is a frickin’ machine, I took about 4 long nights a full day but no issues and I love it!
very interesting module.. a lot of elements to take into account to be applied during a droning session... as always... I love your videos and the way you spread your conclusions. I really appreciate all your effort.
@@CinematicLaboratory it couldn't be any other way... I find it hard to think that someone would not be able to appreciate the tremendous work that goes behind it... I think I've already told you many times, but your constancy and depth of analysis is incredible. I don't know many like you
As is often the case lately, I have neither space nor budget for more modules, but I kinda wanna crosspatch an Oneiroi (which I don't own) with a Grone (which I also don't own).
I had the same issue withe loosing the reverse looper. There is a key comb8nation to just reset all the modulations (check the manual for details). This always helped me to fix the reverse looper issue.
Great video as usual. I received my oneiroi last week and have had some similar issues with the looper where it wasn’t playing backwards. I put the start knob fully CW and the end knob fully CCW and then I could hear the looper in reverse, and thought I must have just misunderstood how it worked. Shame you had to re-flash the firmware to get it going again as expected. It’s a cool module but it does have a very distinctive ‘oneiroi’ sound. Like you say, it’s going to be up to the user to get something original out of it.
Absolutely a strong contender. I always say Techno is ambient with a beat - which is not entirely true - but yes, I am sure it works for many genres that involve trance, hypnotics and euphoria. I think I'll need to update my thumbnail to 'episode 01'.
Can't wait to get one. Does anyone know how to get it in a small standalone case like when they were demoing it? I reached out but they didn't reply. I'd rather have it solo for desktop if I can.
Oneiroi is 30 hp. The easiest way is to get a 32X or 34X pod from 4MS and fill the spare 2 or 4 HP with a mult or an FX-AID , Disting or blank. A small powered Sinusoida 52 HP case would be even better so you can expand. Do you really think you can escape the rabbit hole once you enter? Respect!
@@CinematicLaboratory Thanks for the tip, I have looked at that option a few weeks ago. I just saw the really shallow case they used in different demos, and that's what I was hoping they would have available, but I'm guessing it's custom. I don't mind buying modules as much as just the space it will take up is not ideal, not the HxW, but the depth. I will probably end up with a small setup though, there are a few more modules like the Grone that I would like to put with it to make a noise/ambient generator box.
It's code and it's digital but then there is the haptics, the work of design which controls to put under what knob or fader - and there is CV and feedback possibilites - did you ever experience hours going down the Eurorack foxhole?

I’ve got mine and I can say that the design and layout are excellent, really easy to play. Love to experiment with different input sources too
Totally agree!
This was dope!
The DIY kit looks pretty straightforward and fun. I am going to have to get out the soldering iron and dream away.
its quit an onslaught of sound isn't it, I was talking to a chap in the brewery yesterday that has just got one. Damn this addictive hobby!!
Yes, we're all forked, but loving it.

Thanks for the encouragement. Highly appreciated and sometimes needed :).
Kinda bingeing user videos while I wait for my diy kit, can’t believe the value proposition of this thing, lovely video

Thanks for sharing! It's a lot of work, even though it never feels like it and I feel privileged to have an audience that appreciates it.

Haven’t watched the video, but enjoyed the sounds while folding the laundry. 👌
Actually, I cleaned up my studio while making this video. Really great as a backdrop.
@@CinematicLaboratory I feel this would be great as standalone unit. Or an indeed a tiny rack with rings and pams for some outdoor meditation.

Always welcome!

Dank je!

I now start with clearing my CV and modulation assignments. The problem did not return in later sessions, so I guess it's a bug.
".. wavetables .. itchy thin mosquito sounds .." yes, this is a problem, for me, too.
This is the first wavetable I actually like a lot. It still sounds terrible but now it's functional.
Thank you 🙏🏻
its a pleasure
Contender for module of the year? Bet this is good for pulsing techno ambiences as well. Lovely demo as always.

Vhikk X?!
1:45 .. down we gooooo
I was looking for a stereo filter to accompy my Vhikk X. Is this the way to go to process and compound the Vhikk abyss sounds?
It will definitely combine well with the Vhikk X, I wish I could give it a try :).
I’m kinda done buying Eurorack but this and ohmacide are on my VERY short list
Mmm, delicious 😋

@@CinematicLaboratory follow up, I ended up doing just this and have a small case with the unit and befaco out module, thanks again!
Maybe they programmed the glitches into it
Busted Easter eggs
It's digital, so basically a VST in hardware form factor.
