    Nice to see that I am not the only one who has problems with those spray bottles, I wish there was a company that made spray bottles that are guaranteed to work 100%, it would be so nice., great video guys.

    Great video guys! It’ll be interesting to see where you land in terms of the overall performance and investment in this filter. In a previous vid, Chad indicated some very slight performance improvements. On Sparks’ website, they want $55 for this filter and it looks like $34 for this cleaning fluid kit ( not factoring in discount code). A quick search revealed a standard air filter is roughly $20. So far it looks like a much higher investment and more effort with little benefit with this reusable filter. Will be interesting to hear. Thanks guys!

    I own a 2017 Tacoma SR5 3.5l V-6 and commented on your first video concerning this TRD filter. How do you like it over long term. Better gas mileage and performance?? Great tip with the shop vac and just like the K&N... you have to be careful with re-oiling.

    I also have the TRD reusable air filter on my 2017 Tacoma; however, not sure if I can use the K&N oils to clean the TRD filter?

    • @TrailPass
      @TrailPass  5 лет назад

      From what I gather most oils for air filters are nearly the same with just different dyes in them.

    How important is it to use a shopvac on the filter after you oiled it? Considering they say not to use fans or blowers to dry the filter, I feel like that's not such a good idea, for long term durability of the filter media.

    • @TrailPass
      @TrailPass  3 года назад

      Yeah it's definitely not necessary. I just really didn't want to install the filter with excess oil.

    Did you ever get the oil to come out of the spray bottle? I'm hesitant to buy this kit as many people complain about the sprayers. Any tips?

    • @TrailPass

      It did work for me, however I've heard that someare hard to use. You could get a cheap spray bottle from the dollar store worst case

      The sprayer for the oil did eventually work on my kit. It took a few dozen pumps though with quite a bit of effort at the end to get it to go through. It comes out in a stream though no matter the setting. I even tried another sprayer head and same thing. The oil is just too thick to come out in particulate from a hand sprayer. The instructions are basically non-existent in the kit and came here specifically to see how they applied the oil. That was the one thing that they left out. The shop vac is a good tip though, going to use that to make sure it isn't over oiled. I like the filter though.

    ALLLL RIGHTY THEN. I'm just gonna replace the filter every time. Should I mail my used one to anyone?

    Much easier and cheaper (recharge kit is cheaper for K&N) to clean K&N filters. Had my Taco OR not come with this as OEM, I would have installed a K&N instead. I run K&Ns in both my Jeeps. Rather than use Shop Vac, I just let the filters drip "dry" overnight over newspaper and shop towels; and, if necessary, recharge to remove any residual residue.

    Leave it to Toyota to sell the smallest sized cleaner & oil fluid bottles on the planet. I bet they were expensive AF too.

    They can’t deny a warranty claim unless they provided the materials and you didn’t do it or you did it wrong(oil changes for example). I have a TRD and it runs like crap. Dealer says it’s normal. I’m going to check the filter this weekend and just verify it’s condition. Only 8k on it. No more Toyota’s trucks for my family. Too bad. Thanks for info though kinda sucky the truck is out of commission for a bit while doing this.
