I placed an order for some tools to make jewelry to prototype a first design. And, after watching your videos, I just contacted the one jewelry manufacturer near me. And, it’s cool to know that I could get casting services outside of town if needed.
That's interesting, I've always read to avoid water after the alcohol wash to not ruin the resin, and to simply dry very well the resin with a compressor.
It might be cheaper this way if you do a lot of casting. But you can also just send files directly to casters and they'll print and cast them for you. Then you dont gotta buy a printer and resin or anything.
@@geertje0105 depending on what’s used, it can be very expensive. Most good casting companies will use commercial printers that run specific resin with a super high wax content, that’s really expensive. The cost comes from the utilization of $250K machines instead of $200 resin printers, but both will work.
Does this printer system work with a Galaxy tablet? iPad? I have both but no desktop or laptop. Thanks for the help bro. You're a real one. I pray God blesses you for blessing us with this assistance.
All a printer needs is a USB with the right type of file, that file can be provided by various "slicing" software. I haven't found a slicing app, but there are some cloud based ones online where you'd do evening in a web browser. I imagine this might change soon. I think there's a bigger demand for tablets to handle everything from 3D sculpting to slicing.
Big solid smooth item are really easy for a cheap disposable printer. Now let’s see it print items with millgrain, filigree, and micro prongs with high detail like my Asiga
Should I get the Mars 4 Max? It’s $120 more, but is it worth it? Will the prints be better? Or should I just go with the Mars Pro 3? I seen in another video you said for more detailed prints I would I have to take it to a jeweler. Eventually I want to get into being able to print, cast, benching, set diamonds, and polish again all by myself. Please send advice. I watch all of your videos and have been becoming obsessed with the idea of chasing my dream.
I have a question , great video first of all, how does the caster deals with the resins is it the same than sending them wax models? Do they make trees with the pieces that you send or do they cast each one separately and do they they mold like lost wax ?
I watched all of your jewelry videos and noticed you started using the saturn 3... i ordered the saturn 3 with 12k do you prefer this or mars 5 and why... thank you for answering back I am more than excited to buy your course! Buying the resin primer and 3d printer as we speak
Question regarding the chains, are they able to cast the resin so that the outcome of the jewelry of gold or silver acts like a real chain or are they "pasted" together?
I want to be able to make molds for gold, silver, jewelry like rings, braclets, pendants etc.... is there a better machine out there you could recommend now a year later or is this still the one? Thanks.
Brother can you make a casting video I’m already buying and selling a lot of jewelry doing good but I want to manufacture my own. Not sure if it’s worth it but I don’t have a caster. I sell straight hand made Cuban links
How much does it cost per Cuban ring to print? Using the more expensive Castable wax. I want to know how much I should charge a jeweler if they want me to print for them.
Hi, this video was made a year ago with this machine......what is the newest best machine for jewelry on the market now under $1,000? Small printer is fine, because it is for personal. Thanks
Slava, this is super helpful! Quick question, Where do you get the files(images to print)? If I want to use this printer to make some designs / 3d images on grills.. how would I attach it to the waxed grill?

This is a bit misleading - casting houses have overhead that requires more than a couple of bucks over spot for casting. First off, no one is buying metal at spot - if you buy pre-alloyed metal you are going to pay around 10% over, then you have shipping and insurance costs + rent + labor + utilities + taxes + profits and there is no one who is casting at a couple of dollars over spot that is doing a good job and following best practices around disposal of waste, OSHA compliance etc. Another thing is that if you get a caster that just batches your castings with a bunch of other pieces to cast at a low price then they are going to cast your flask at a temperature and metal temperature that will guarantee that the thinnest pieces fill, and if your parts are heavier you are going to see issues with casting quality (porosity primarily) that will affect your final product. As I've been in jewelry manufacturing for over 45 years I can assure you that you get what you pay for. Cheapest doesn't always end up being the most profitable.
@ronnie9372 I can help you with that! I am just now getting into making jewelry from 3D objects. I am an architect and can digitally model anything. Let me know if you would like work together with this :)
This was a really lovely and concise video. The only thing I’d like to mention is gloves and ventilation. The resin is really toxic and can cause cancers when it absorbs into your skin. It’s not very good to breathe either. I don’t want to see an eloquent speaking jewelry smith have their life cut short by icky chemical consequences. Keep it up man!

Either deal with them in person or learn to cast and do the work. Regardless, using a caster won’t keep you in business long unless you quickly convert to having your own employees cast and finish for you.
