    You are having a unique conversation. So far the American public is not taking you seriously. You are not a traditional candidate on many accounts. With the election of Donald Trump we all learned where we are at from a sociological consciousness perspective. However the mere fact that you are alive (also at this time), called forward AND taking action to LIVE that which you speak about is not only a sign of your own leadership but also an indication that we are IN the times of deep and big change. I made my first contribution and will invite 10 people to join me. I don't really know who is the right person for this position in 2020. I do know that you are a quality, steadfast, engaged, knowledgable, intelligent, confident, committed and beautiful being that deserves the opportunity to join this race, to be front and center in the conversation and to stand along side these other (famous and funded) candidates and challenge our current dialogue. Love Eva Cassidy. Love you.

Our ancestors had 300 years of physical chains on them then after emancipation in 1865 then came 100 years of Jim Crow where my people had too flee the southern parts of the USA. We were made Refugees in our own country. I was born during the Jim Crow era the people who terrorized my grandparents and parents are still living today and the Decendants are living off of that wealth and they know it. There would be no Wells Fargo, Aetna Insurance, Bank of America and other major corporations without slavery. I can go on...no our government along with U.S. companies, African countries, Great Briton owes us. Shame white people they should be ashamed of the diabolical events that their ancestors done like murder, rape, torture, kidnapping, breading humans, lynching etc.

    • @yojimbe1
      @yojimbe1 5 лет назад

      @@DOS-mn6jf You act as though black ancestors never did anything. I mean, were the Egyptians white? Must have been since they had slavery. Right now in Libya, you can buy slaves for 400 dollars a head. How far through ancestry do you want to go? It wasn't like a bunch of white people just sailed to Africa and enslaved people to bring back to the US. They were already enslaved by African tribe leaders, Jewish slave traders brought them here. A little bit of money is going to make it all go away and gain forgiveness for what I never did? Both of my parents are dead. Mother died of cancer at 53 and father died at 60. None of us were on a beneficiary list or held stock in any of these banks and insurance companies. My family is from North Dakota so are you going to make the north who fought a civil war thinking it was about freeing slaves and abolishing it...they pay as well? I'm totally fine with paying people who actually went through it but many who say they want reparations didn't go through that and just want a free handout in my opinion.

    We just gave $2T in tax cuts to the rich. So $2-4T I feel is definitely possible. Me personally, give me $3M and those 40acres, that was never given in the first place and I'm good. For all black people, stop the practice of denying loans simply because of their skin and if loans are given, a lower interest rate. Nearly 3yrs ago, the secret service had to settle a lawsuit for $24M for 8 people who were discriminated against based on their skin. Reparations should be 3 fold. Money, schools and direct investment banks and lenders so we can bring about another Black Wall Street. Hopefully this time around, it won't be burned down. U guys keep forgetting about the 100.00 it's 40 acres a mule and 100.00 dollars plus the Dutch Spaniards and English contributed its more like 4-6 trillion distributed over lets say 15yrs. Take a city like Gary that's abandoned give 600 million the first yr to revitalize the city agribusiness water reclamation financial institution. Security downtown revitalization office towers media company manufacturing. Housing Grocery store ect... Economic development is the main key if blacks don't have economics then education means nothing.or housing u must have something to back it...Economic Empowerment Gary could create 250,000 jobs and opportunities that means blacks whites Asians Hispanic s would get some of those opportunities construction companies energy manufacturing would create enormous opportunity.

    • @person-xd3wb
      @person-xd3wb 5 лет назад +2

      Agree with group economic empowerment as the goal of reparations. Group harm equals group remedy. However, that is not the majority sentiment. People want their individual checks. I want to see the group rise through enterprise, jobs, economic development and educational opportunities. ADOS banks, credit unions, insurance companies, hotels, stock brokerages, real estate, film poduction, food production, a lottery, etcetera all for the express benefit of ADOS. That is my wish and yours. My hope is that both objectives can be served. Some money apportioned to individuals, but the bulk allocated for long-term wealthbuilding for ADOS. I would prefer investments, homes, jobs and educations to Mercedes, clothes, and other depreciating items initially. The bling can come after the wealthbuilding. Actually, collective buying power can reduce the cost of the bling. It will be a tragedy if reparations did not help bridge the long term wealth gap. Especially, if it is the government's final settlement on racial grievances stemming from slavery. But the group has to make those choices collectively if and when reparations occur. I have been called a hater and a pocket watcher. I make no apologies. I admit my focus is on the long term, big picture. I hope ADOS deals wisely if and when reparations come.

    Excellent discussion on reparations for #ADOS with the citizens, Professor Sandy Darity and Kirsten Mullen, and Marianne Williamson. I do think the reparations scholars & Marianne missed the point that, Mr. Lincoln, a citizen was trying to make, that there are certain individuals to whom handing over a large sum of money would be irresponsible, should that be the form of the remedy. But they made the point that reparations is the right thing to do.

I'm also aware of the Cherokee Freedmen dispute, wherein the Cherokee nation fought vociferously to deny citizenship and land rights to their former slaves, and those of mixed heritage, born of Cherokee and Black unions.
      I'm also aware of the land that the Cherokee nation has received, as well as portions of billions of dollars paid in reparations to Native Americans by the U.S. govt. Just under the Obama administration alone, $492 billion was paid in lawsuit settlements. While I'm don't begrudge Native Americans pursuing their justice claims, I wonder why you feel that THIS forum is the proper place to do so.
      As Maryanne so succinctly pointed out, whenever the conversation is about what has been done and what is owed to the American Descendants of Slaves, someone feels compelled to insert a diversion- "what about poor whites?" or "what about the Native Americans?", etc. etc.
      You posting about the plight of Native Americans on a video about reparations for AMERICAN DESCENDANTS OF SLAVES is an example of what Maryanne spoke of, and is INCREDIBLY disrespectful. Is America ready to detach itself from the money attached to Black pain, Black incarceration, Black segregation, Black Death, Black miseducation?
    I do not agree with the gentleman who asked the first question. It takes education. Maybe some psychological remedy but education will go further. Now if we are talkin about an older generation such as Mr Lincoln whom had to face slavery, post-slavery, Jim Crow Etc then yes that psychological aspect would be needed as well. But if we waited for the psychological evaluations or healing we will be waiting another decade which we definitely can't afford.
    I do think some type of valuation or training should be adhered to before any monetary payments is paid. And reparations would not just be about money. Money can be exhausted. The land that will come with reparations is critical.l

    I really really love Marianne Williamson and everything she stands for. BUT...she seems to be painting herself into a corner by being a one-issue candidate. Please don't get me wrong -- I believe that reparations are hugely important, think that they are long overdue, and I totally respect her for taking such a strong stand on this. But there are so many economic and political issues that are affecting ALL of us today based on our class struggles, not just racial struggles. Fixing those would go a long way towards lifting the boats of black people as well.
    She needs to be wrapping reparations into the entire package of her platform instead of focusing almost entirely on that. I know that she does indeed have a multi-faceted platform, and a very good one, but most of her videos seem to be almost entirely about reparations. Maybe I am wrong in seeing it and her this way, but she has so many great ideas and she has a brilliant way of explaining our political, economic, and social ills in such a way that people can grasp them, I want to see her focus on ALL aspects of her platform and grow her following to ALL of the people, not just the black community. I hope she is in this campaign for the long haul and I especially want to see her qualify for the upcoming debates. I think that she is a game changer and her ideas NEED to be heard --- ALL of her ideas.

      Mr. Armstrong you continually not able to understand, reparation is the narrative to get black and white America to understand the history of slavery and the damage it did and continuing to hinder of a people that are considered citizens and contributors to the wealthiest country on the planet , that narrative is to be push in the minds of Americans black and white and to have an advantage over the other candidates that are running for president of this country. She has to wait and depth of professionals who have experienced in the history of slavery about this country that no other candidate has, and she has the #ADOS movement with attorney Antonio Moore and political analyst yvette carneal and a host of others collaborating..... yes reparation is a perfect narrative for discussion

    Yojimbe Mr , Miss or Mrs; Reading your comment it sounds like you're very angry and usually angry people have closed minds, I'm Black and I'm not an immigrant I was born in the state of Mississippi I know the hate and anger of this country towards blacks it doesn't matter if they're right or wrong good or bad hate and anger is the story of their lives. You said one thing that I totally agree with and that is we'll never attain equality. We've paid taxes for everyone else to get preparation, we pay taxes to fuel this country's Wars some based on lies, we pay taxes to fuel this countries research, we pay taxes to fuel its military, and every other tax base entity. We've also paid with atrocities that the other reparations didn't suffer. Now that presidential candidates are bringing this up and making an issue out of it there are two other movements that are talkin about it also and with white people full of hate and anger this country is going to hell.

    Yang is such a better candidate, and he's not just pandering to the black community. He wants to help all Americans, and UBI is much more likely to actually be implemented, as reparations will have great opposition from the right. Wake up and realize what is the best path of action to get the outcome you want. She only got one thing right, the vision and politics statement. Reparations will not come to pass, but UBI can, and it would give the black community the same outcome. She is a waste of time. Research Andrew Yang and it's clear he is far and away a better candidate. Yang 2020
