D, you're right, the song describes a beating of a young man in a saturday night but it is a metaphor of the repression suffered by Argentine youth in the period. The album goes on sale weeks before the end of the last military government and the assumption of the democratic president Raul Alfonsin (1983)
Much of what Charly did was done during the time of the dictatorship, a dark time in Argentina, where censorship was common. And it was somewhat risky to rebel or show yourself against the military, because they "disappeared" you, that is, they kidnapped you, and threw your body into the sea or buried it without informing your relatives. So Charly's merit is double, not only as a virtuoso, but also as a brave man for making his music in those years. And for that also, some lyrics are more cryptic, you have to understand not only what it says, but what it means. That said, Argentina is a complex place, where not everything white is white or everything black is black, since the military were induced to power by the left, and that same left is now the one that makes an apology for the disappeared, but the merit from charly, it's still pure.
Excuse me, but everything you've written is bullshit. All coups in Argentina have been carried out by the US and its economic and geopolitical interests.

the album cover is a mural on a wall in new york, charly liked it and used it to make the album cover
As told on the messages below, Charly was talking about the dictatorship. This was in the 80's in Argentina. The album was recorded in New York (USA).
This song was very very popular and still is, in Latam. Short and powerful.
Charly is the King of latin rock.
Regards from Chile :-)
CHARLY ES UN PREVILEGIO A NUESTROS OIDOS ,UN CAPOO DE ESTA ARGENTINA TAN PORTENTOSA EN ESA EPOCA INSUPERABLE ,GRACIAS MAN POR TRAERNOS AL MAX
the lyrics talk about some policemen who beat a person inside a club, during the military dictatorship in argentina
Charly's music is huge. There are al least 50 songs we all know and love
ROCK NACIONAL 🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷CHARLY GARCIA. ESO SIGNIFICA SU NOMBRE Y APELLIDO👏👏👏👏

Charly es el padre del rock argentino...
Charly es rock
Hey bro, let me give you a little help with this one. First off, what Charly is talking about is abuse of force and law enforcement brutality. "Wasn't the pill, but the men in grey" means exactly that. They could fuck you up and having it being passed as an accident or a overdose, and your ass just be gone. This album and song were made right back when last dictatorship period was ending, and Charly was already being one of the icons of using sort of encrypted, metaphoric lyrics to avoid censorship and persecution so he kept that style for a while and once he was more free, he started shouting things a little more, coincidentally with the starting of his solo career.. there is one song that is key in this whole era and is ,"Canción de Alicia en el país", from Seru Giran (Charly 's band during military time) because this song was completely understood by the people, and still avoided censorship, so i strongly recommend you to listen to it.
Oh, and by the way, the one on the picture actually is Charly, and that picture was taken in some corner in New York city, where charlie recorded this album.
Best regards to you, bro. Keep doin ur thing 🤟
nice explanation, thanks!
In 1983 Charly lauched this song as part of the "clics modernos" álbum. The use of a Roland TR- 808 drum machine was revolutionary at the time. Recorded at electric lady studios, NY. this song is about the last dictatorship in argentina.the song was an instant hit and now is considered a classic.
This song was created when Our country Argentina was under a dictatorial militar government, the Grey men that they mention most of the time became secret service police that usually appear to #control# situation's......

It's a clasic! 💓
200👍.. Claro!!!!
They keep hitting us down there ...i guess could be translated. Pedro Aznar (from Serú Girán, Pat Metheny Group) on bass (even on some vocal backings) and a new toy the Roland TR-808 rhythm machine. Also he meets Joe Blaney, then he became productor of serveral Garcias' albums
On November 6, 2023, the city of New York officially named Walker St. And Cortlandt Alley as CHARLY GARCIA CORNER, on the 40th anniversary of the release of the CLICS MODERNOS album (the photograph of the cover of the album was taken on that corner)
Charly is GOD !!!!!!!
Sos un Genio !! ❤❤❤
Actually, your first guess about the government was right. The lyrics talk about the period we lived in DICTADURA MILITAR
Excelente friend
Charly " MAESTRO".
It is a political song, about a prisoner being tortured, but the lyrics has double meaning, to be able to pass censorship.
It was the time of the military government, and the letter refers to the men in gray (military), but if he said it explicitly he could be killed, he did it figuratively.
Gracias by D por reaccionar a Charly......Otro !!!! ORGULLO 💙🤍🌞🤍💙ARGENTINO !!!!!
Thanks by D for reacting to Charly ...... Another !!!! ARGENTINE 💙🤍🌞🤍💙PRIDE !!!!!

Hello D. The song it's about of those one who weren't agree from the dictatorship we were suffering (well i born a couple of years after) how the men of greys (a special police of that age) just interrupt at every situation of this people (people who were against this fascist government). Just imagine you in a bar dancing when suddenly you just got punched by someone who knows who you are and was waiting for you for leaving a message or maybe just dissappear and never someone see you again. This was a very particular decade between 1976 to 1985. The fun fact about the song is that sound cool and happy but the lirycs it's totally different. You should watch "Argentina 1985" released in 2022 and nominated for an Oscar. It's about a judge to the government, the military government, who gave us the worst era in Argentina. Greetings from Córdoba. Always good to resct to your videos. It's seems you really liked so
Querido CHarly!!
Hi D, love your reactions, great as always!!. I suggest You listen "Funky" de Charly García too. This song got video clip made un New York, and I think these álbum was recorded there too. Take care my friend!!
Molto bene grazie.-
80's !!!!!
Hi, friend ! Charly recorded that album ("Modern Clix") entirely in New York in 1983 (he turns 40 this year). It was co-produced with the great Joe Blaney and the striking photo on the album cover was also taken on the streets of New York (the grafitty is an intervention by a street artist and "Modern Clix" was the name of a New York rock band). Charly was going to call his album "Nuevos trapos" ( "New rags" )but when he saw the graffiti with that name it seemed to him that he was better suited to the concept of the album and he adopted it as his own.
our "democracy" is sooo young
1983!😃
Cinema verite...the charly' best song ever.
I am a big prog fan. And afaik this and Yes's 9012 are the only albums that manage to somehow sound super pop and super prog at the same time. This song, for instance, has a 7/4 guitar riff but the rest of the band is in 4/4, which makes the riff change accents at every turn. So a quite complex polimetry, but you don't really feel it, it still sounds very pop.
Quue temazo loco. Atemporal.
She is minor is a bad translación. "Ella es menor" means "She's underage". And the song refers to the represion. We had a repressive military goverment (1976-1983). The album Is dated 1983, when democracy was returning.
Por siempre charly!
1983 ....gran disco ,GRAN !!!!!
Abrazos desde argentina
I don't know why they were pretty good with the lyrics but when it says "Nos siguen pegando abajo" they translate it to "they keep hitting us down there" but it is actually "they keep hitting us low".
Charlys a great fan of the yardbirds, the birds and of course Tom Petty. On top of a plethora of great artists throughout history. He’s a star and a fanboy. 100% arg.
Clix Modernos 1983 Album
Noice!! we need a reaction of Mr. Jones, Etileda and more! lot of good songs from Charly!!!
In dark times of Argentina, you can be desappeared for talk against the military dictatorship, Charly was risky for do many songs
Manu artist was killed in that time, and many exiled them selves to survive. Folclore artist like Cafrune die :'/
Recomiemdo " Adela en el carrusel " Charly García. Saludos .

Hola, great reaction, Angelina Jordan y Charly Garcia forever, thank you...
Hello D!!!
this guy: wow the song is gonna be about a bad goberment or the haters, is gonna be interesting
Charly: mirá pibe there was a guy a little high dating a minor on a disco, so when a bunch of guys noted that, they just take it down hitting his balls really hard
This will get you back to the 80's!!! Greetings from Costa Rica 🇨🇷
Another interpretation would be. They continue to hit us in the balls. The men in gray ara beating him down... That is in one of the lines so....
Seru Giran (Charly Garcia) -La Grasa de la capitales. 1978. Please!!!!
Hi! Good reaction. I recommend to you "Los dinosaurios" (The dinosaurs) , this song is from that same album
Hear "Los dinosaurios" MTV unplagged
I suggest you listen to MIENTES and A PRIMERA VISTA, by Pedro Aznar
