I"m so touched by your goal Jess, I'm currently running 36 marathons in honor of my younger sister that passes away in 2020, I'm currently at 13 and I can tell you it won't be easy and prepare for the people that love you to not understand and question your decisions but they only want to make sure you are ok... Running helped me heal and it's soooo much better and cheaper than therapy. I would love to meet with you and your team at one point next year, it would be amazing to run a few miles with you. I wish you the best.
Forget the Strava time. Who cares? I feel chasing Strava kudos is really the opposite of what TRC is about. Rick's morning routine and skin care regime is what we are here for! 😂
Setting goals, training hard, celebrating achievements seems pretty on brand to me. Many people don’t have close friends or family that care much about their running, but often they find a community on strava that they can connect with and that motivates them.
What a great goal Jess! Good Luck! No running goals for me this year. I"ll just enjoy my trail runs and do them whenever I can. My focus is to get my drivers license (at the age of 43😅).
My goal for next year is to run my first Marathon, preferably under 3:20. I've planned to run Stockholm Marathon in end of May, as that's my home marathon, so it reduces traveling stress. I'd also love to sub-40 the 10k, and if I liked running marathons I'll do another one in the autumn.
In my mid fifties I set a goal of under 20 within a year. My first race was 24:53, next one a month later 23:39, and within a few more months got to 21:08, after that it got tough but by year end I ran 19:23. 50-70 mpw, intervals, 10 mile runs at 7 flat pace, 1/2 mile hill repeats. It was a hard training schedule with only one day off a month. Easy runs were 7:30 pace. I'm 66 now and 2025 goal is under 20 again, but not sure if possible, last race was 21:23. The bigger fellow (Rick?) aiming for sub 22:30, that's easy. Lose some weight you get really fast, 2.2 seconds per mile per pound it's almost like cheating. I'm 148 right now so if I drop to 138 I'll cut at least a minute from my 5k 😀. My pb at age 53 was 18:42 and it's on RUclips.
I like the habit chat, I love going for runs after work but I hate hate getting changed into run kit... Hence I I have started incorporating run kit into work wear... Its been a win win x
From Fraserburgh. Along with injury free our object has been to remain illness free, catching the flu has taken over a month to get back to running. 2025 target is G2E Ultra
You have blown my mind on how to give kudos to everyone who did the same race!!! I am so excited to try this now! Quick everyone lets on a race together. 😊
Huge Goal for Jess!! Brilliant Goals for everyone! I know you’ll do them with all the passion and love you show in your videos My goal is my first 10k and to improve my VO2 Max - any tips on this? I’m stuck on 30 (using Garmin Fenix 7) and thought I was doing so good 😢
Love Ricks reaction to everyone running during Storm Darragh. I beat my half marathon pb during this same storm. MK's Winter Half Marathon still went ahead with over 2000 other runners. It was wet cold and windy in the exposed areas. But a fun race. Everyone was in great spirits despite the weather.
When Sarah started talking about the podcast she's been listening to lately, I thought to myself, "Wouldn't it be cool if she said 'The Rest is History'? I love that podcast..." And she did! Sarah, my podcast sister!
I was on vacation in London from the States last week and planned on running the Burgess Park parkrun. I guess it was cancelled because the weather was horrible, but there were still probably 50 people running around in the heavy rain. I ran anyway including running from and to my hotel.
My one and only goal in 2025 is to go from extensive ankle surgery to my first marathon. I have 11 months, first step- weightbearing, second step- walking! Don't stress, my surgeon and physio are aware of my goal and I will be under their direction at all times 😊
if you doing 5k already near 22-25 minutes, you do HM easily under 2h....i have done it 1:57 this october easily....was my 1st :) think you can do it 1:45 aroundish.
If you test the best way to get round the cone you should also try the swivel technique. Run one pace past the cone, spin 180 degrees in the opposite rotation than normal, then set off running again. Its quick and looks spectacular.
Hoping to Sub-4 my first marathon in May. Also hoping to sub-22 5k and sub-50 10k. I saw a strava club called "Run 2025 km in 2025", and feel like that's also an achievable goal volume-wise to keep me motivated to get out and running.
Absolutely keep running until you’ve reached the full distance. I recently crossed the line on an 80k in 79.1k- there was no way I wasn’t going to do the extra 900 metres. Paused the watch, collected the medal etc then I told everyone it was a warm down but it was all about hitting the magic 80k but for me- not for Strava!
I started this year slightly injured and then from mid January had loads of time visiting hospital with my daughter until issue was finally sorted very recently. Real struggle to fit everything in with a full time job also,so i soon decided the only goal was 1k miles for year and dropped from 4 runs to 3 a week and just had to fit them in when i could. Gave up on booking any races in ,as couldn't commit to either a paticular date or the training i needed to do myself justice.30 miles to go so cutting it fine, and definately far too early to worry about 2025 targets! I have got a 12 hour endurance paddleboard event in April though so the 1k miles may be it again as far as running targets\2
#1 cornering can also come down to practice too. My old neighborhood there were some zigzag of the sidewalk which I felt did help when I did 5ks w cones. #2 I don't wear shoes in the house so it's always socks before shoes! #3 my goal is to run a 1/2 marathon in a day and then work to getting fast enough to do an actual race even if that's in 2026. 😊
For a corner I take an F1 approach. So wide coming hit the apex and wide out. To keep as much pace as possible. My goals are the mornington half marathon in May. And Melbourne Marathon in October
Such a pity members of the club app couldn't attend the podcast recording in Malaga. Been following you guys since I started running and can't ever attend any of the TRC events as I'm not UK based. 🥺
I’m 13 and started the year at 22:00 5k now it’s 18:30 I’m also starting to look at 10k races…. Could anyone help me thing of appropriate goals to stick to and realistic
I got into running in 2023, couldn't do 5k comfortably at the time. Decided to run 5k everyday in 2024. Decided if I started on Jan 1st, I will have to skip a run within a week, so decided to get used to 5k. Started in mid December 2023, missed the run on two days in December. But got used to 5k runs by Jan 1st. Ran 220+ 5k runs in 2024, missed about 100 days (in total), I guess I still did better than most new year's resolutions. I think the key is to have the resolution at a comfortable difficulty by Jan 1st, so that the streak can go on. Like a new diary, want to write every day, but don't want to be in the practice starting Jan 1st.
Enjoyed the show. No real goals for me, at least not yet. I'll be 66 next year and I've been running since high-school so I am happy just to keep going on runs 3-4 times per week. I may try to get to 50 Parkruns in 2025. I'm at 36, but the closest Parkrun now is nearly an hour drive so I don't go very often.
Rick can totally do sub 22:30. I did 22:10 by accident last year aged 66, a PB by 35 seconds. With no intervals, no strength work. I was running every day though but all the same speed.
There's a specific part of strava for listing your pb's that you simply enter time in for a distance, and it allows you to link to it with an activity. And then typically in the activity itself people put a link to the official results for their official time (or just state it). The gps recorded 'best efforts' are often not very accurate for various reasons, so the answer is basically... no, there's no real reason to keep running just to try to set some spurious strava gps best effort time.
For events, I just want the time at the finish of the course as logged on the day (even for a 100km MTB race that logged as 99.6km). Only training runs/rides get rounded up. Strava will still give you a 1/2 or marathon time from within the overall distance if it records slightly over.
I missed my attempt to run under 2 hours as the distance was about 70 meters too short. I had to find my way around the crowd gathered at the finish point to run another 70 meters, losing time. Final time read 2:00:03. Race time shows within 2 hours, but strava pb is still 2:00:03. 😢
My goal for 2025 is to run my first marathon, I’m not terrified yet. 😂 Seriously considering Rick’s plank example though, getting a stronger core would really help my hyperextending back!
I believe in this approach: My Identity - I am a Runner My Weekly Discipline - I run over 30k per week with varied daily distances My Specific Goal - Enter and run a 10k by mid 2025 and a 25k by the end of 2025
The sock-shoe / sock sock, shoe shoe dilemma has been confusing. Are people walking around barefoot until they put on their shoes? I put my socks on while getting dressed after showering, and don't put shoes on until I leave the house. Is getting dressed the last thing you do before leaving the house? When I put on my shoes, I have already had my socks on. In the cases, as brought up, being outside and not wanting to put a socked foot on the ground, I have done sock shoe, sock shoe BUT I don't tie them until both shoes are on. Am I still safe, Sarah, or is this still unacceptable?
In The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, advanced alien beings create a supercomputer, called Deep Thought, to figure out the answer to the so-called Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything. After calculating for 7.5-million years, Deep Thought determined the answer was the number 42, another reason for you jess, best of luck with them all!
I was about to buy the ASUS Zenphone but was really put off by the short supoort period (I think it was 2 years). People have gone for larger phones to get better specs. I would pay more for top specs in a smaller frame vs a larger version of the same release.
Goals for me ... 1 competive event every month... Inc 2 x half Marathons and a Nuclear trial run. But most importantly stay injury free (unlike this year !!) ...
Don't know if you can message strava but you can try clicking on the 3 dots then click "correct distance" which may bump distance up enough? if it goes down click 3 dots again and "revert distance"
Omg I did that! My first marathon recorded shorter than 42.2K (back in the day I used autopause, don’t judge me) and I messaged Strava support 😂 They replied back pointing me to the feature “correct distance”! 😅 It fixed it although as usual to a longer than the full distance total but I didn’t mind that 😊
I'm not sure what my goals are for next year. I failed every goal I had this year, currently training for the race that started it all last year (new years eve 5k) Well it wasn't the race, I just ended up really sick when training for it and never really recovered, coupled with all the bugs my toddlers bring back. So I'm a year or more behind on my running but even though I've been physically compromised I've stayed consistent. Just depressing running and not feeling like I'm getting any fitter. So my goal next year is to stay consistent, try to get some PBs, get up to 2-3 gym sessions per week.
My goal for 2025 (same as 2024) is a sub 4 marathon But to do that I also need to get faster at every other distance, currently doing a 10km programme, then will be onto a half marathon programme and then my marathon programme
The listener question was not directed at me, obviously. But when I did my first 75km ultra, the course was longer and I also had to backtrack because I took the wrong route. When I finished my watch said 79.8km. To the surprise of my waiting family, I ran another 200m to make it an even 80km. Turns out that a 50 miler is slightly above 80km and Strava said I came up a few meters short, so didnt recognize it as a 50 miler anyway. All for naught. Miffed about that.
Official 5K , 10K and half marathon, I’m 70 at the end of this year and would like to complete these runs before my 71st. Any tips for this ,order maybe. My son also uses cutlery the wrong way around 😂.
My goal for year 2024 was to run at least 100 times. currently at 98 runs so I think I will make it. Also made 5K in under 25minutes. I hope in 2025 to be better at taking recovery weeks and more weeks with 3 sessions.
I got smacked on the knee with a ball playing hockey today so running on pause for a bit 😖 Hopeful for a successful 2025 though - no specific goals, just to be consistent and enjoy myself 🙂
Current goal is being able to run 10k again after a birth in sep and not running during the whole pregnancy. I also really want Anna, Rick and/or to do a review on running prams. Theres so many out there to choose from
Ok...From November 29 to December 12 we got around 5 FEET of snow in Ashtabula, Ohio so running has been a challenge. They postponed our Christmas 5k to today...17 degrees farenheit! Can't win!
Honestly the question about race distances is a trigger. I recently got a 10k PB at a race where the distance came up short.... THEREFORE no PB on my watch. 😩 It was a PB by more than 1minute.
My goals for 2025: Under 17 mins at least for 5k Under 36 at least mins for 10k Under 1hr 20 for half marathon Under 2hrs 50 for full marathon I’m going to try and average 100km a week minimum too! Yes I don’t do things by half 😂
42 the answer to life, the universe and everything. Good luck Jess! Amazing goal, look after yourself x
In Rick's defence high altitude areas do get stronger winds
My 2 goals: Sub 1 hour 10K and my first half marathon
All the best dear👍🏾
Exactly the same! Good luck!
I like how Jess puts "running a multi-day ultra" and "will help me stay injury free" into the same sentence, absolute beast. You go!
hit my 30th marathon. 🎉 (3 in 2025)
and hit sub 4.25
jeas your incredible
sarah nice goal
Rick. thanks for the entertainment ❤

My goal is to run my first ultra marathon.
Rick is such a yapper😂😂 love it and all the laughs at the beginning.

The thing that sorted my back pain was learning to deadlift heavy in my early 30s. Never have back pain and never throw my back out now.
What a great goal Jess! Good Luck! No running goals for me this year. I"ll just enjoy my trail runs and do them whenever I can. My focus is to get my drivers license (at the age of 43😅).
Huge goal for Jess! You’ve got this!!!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Goals for me will be definitely a marathon and hopefully an ultra!
Great stuff guys love it.
Hey Sarah I also use my opposite hand for eating.
Jess amazing what your doing hope it all goes well for you good luck. X
Wow Jess, that’s a fantastic goal. Good luck, you’ve got this 🎉

Rick and I had the exact same reaction to Jess' goal, word for word. 😅
Sounds like a great goal! Rooting for you Jess!

Badwater 267 in January, for the 2nd consecutive year. That equates to more than 10 marathons in January 🙂. Not too shabby for a 60yr old 🙂
Huge Goal for Jess!! Brilliant Goals for everyone! I know you’ll do them with all the passion and love you show in your videos
My goal is my first 10k and to improve my VO2 Max - any tips on this? I’m stuck on 30 (using Garmin Fenix 7) and thought I was doing so good 😢
My goal for next year (March 9th) is to run my first half marathon, and run it in 2 hours. This was my first week following the Garmin Coach Greg plan
Love Ricks reaction to everyone running during Storm Darragh. I beat my half marathon pb during this same storm. MK's Winter Half Marathon still went ahead with over 2000 other runners. I was on vacation in London from the States last week and planned on running the Burgess Park parkrun. I guess it was cancelled because the weather was horrible, but there were still probably 50 people running around in the heavy rain. I ran anyway including running from and to my hotel.
So excited to see Jess do this! 🧡 my goal is to do my first ultra to raise money for RNIB x
26:42 Habit stacking is something I'll look into. Thanks!

I’ve got 2 goals for 2025,
Run 5k under 20 mins and do a half marathon in less than 2hrs.

@@tadejdanev5030Thanks,I think the 5k under 20 minutes worries me a little because I’m struggling with the 3:58 pacing.
@@richard73what's your training and current 5k pb?
what is your age? any injuries? doing gym? ;)
@@petercini2022 22.23 👍 Normal type of training 3 times a week and 1 interval training session and a park run 🙂

Team socks before trousers/pants/shorts.
Beautiful goals.
Aww Jess that is beautiful I love this! If anyone can Jess can ❤❤❤
My goals are to get back into running after a 10 year break and a knee injury. Aiming for 5k at first
The listener question was not directed at me, obviously.
I tried for a 5k PB at parkrun on the weekend but I can’t match the PB I got during my marathon training block last year!
Let’s go!
I ran 11,3k in a relay race this year. Took about 1:20. My goal for 2025 is to finish the same segment under 1 hour
I have a couple of ultras booked in... But that's a normal.. My actual goal is to nail nutrition and overcome my hatred of park run x
Current goal is being able to run 10k again after a birth in sep and not running during the whole pregnancy. I also really want Anna, Rick and/or to do a review on running prams. Theres so many out there to choose from
Go ‘ed Jess! That’s ridiculous but I’m more than confident you can do 42 marathons!
Goal for 2025
Sub 25 5k
Sub 50 10k
Sub 1:30 10miles
Sub 2:00 HM and 1st HM!
But first thing first do my long runs every week!
The best way to keep your goals is to tell people about them
Ok...From November 29 to December 12 we got around 5 FEET of snow in Ashtabula, Ohio so running has been a challenge. They postponed our Christmas 5k to today...17 degrees farenheit! Can't win!
Some people’s relationship with social media Strava is sickening.
my 2 goals 21 k woodland race in spring an a 16 k mutain race in autum. not going for time goale bekuse I have just ran on roads last 3 yaears
Sydney marathon sub 3:30 is my goal 10faster than my pb 🫣
Honestly the question about race distances is a trigger. I recently got a 10k PB at a race where the distance came up short.... THEREFORE no PB on my watch. 😩 It was a PB by more than 1minute.
Honestly I’m not sure what my new years goals are other than to try to PR in every race distance
Would love to run at Pe-nistone some day 😂😂😂
8:44 How many boyfriends does Sarah have?? 😂
Jess should do every marathon with the medals from the previous so finish the 42nd with 42 medals
goal for 2025 -
5km under 25 mins
10km in 52mins
enjoy Chicago marathon with a B goal of getting close to the 4hr mark
2025 goal: my 1st marathon and do it below 4hours.
Do you Brits say Pyooma and Kyoodos?
My goals for 2025:
Under 17 mins at least for 5k
Under 36 at least mins for 10k
Under 1hr 20 for half marathon
Under 2hrs 50 for full marathon
I’m going to try and average 100km a week minimum too!
Yes I don’t do things by half 😂
