Thanks for this video. Good flashbacks for me. Many trips there and fond memories. Born in Victoria, TX, now in VA. My most remarkable south Padre Island memory: solo camping, 46 miles south of the park entrance where I finally hit a channel too deep to cross in the 4wd Nissan Titan, 4 door I had driven from Virginia with a small camper in the bed. The camper was a hardtop pop-up, fully equipped and over two weeks of supplies. I had leisurely headed straight to Padre from VA. One night of camping alone that far down was just too overwhelming to me. Having that kind of reaction had just not crossed my imagination beforehand. It wasn't a panic. I was prepared. Just the desolation. I moved closer to others the next day, after some fine fishing. It was another of those profound experiences in my life that I am grateful for and know that I will not do that "Solo" again. I have marked that adventure off my wish list. TYL ws 12/14/23p
Thank you for sharing. There is a heightened sense of excitement when you realize you’re truly alone and vulnerable. It’s a good adventure to have at least once in a lifetime.
Glad I was able to catch Sandy in action… honestly I didn’t think she was going to do it first try but hey she’s a beast… aver cuando nos juntamos en SPI
I’m so glad you caught that angle with your camera and I appreciate you sending the clip! To be honest, I wasn’t sure how it would turn out since that was a definite first for her. Get your overnight camping gear in order if you don’t yet and yes, vamos! 🎥🎥👍🏽
I have been up and down SPI many many times. I LOVE THAT PLACE. Camped out in the back of my 4x4 Silverado. From Malaquite Beach to the cut. From Brownsville to the cut. Boca Chica. What a wonderful place to be. I love the isolation & solitude. All you need is a comfortable spot to lay your head at night. .....and pick up your trash.
I got screwed at PINS and screwed up a transmission sensor on my jeep. Which is on backorder and no jeep for 4 weeks now. All because I was going through a soft spot at PINS and some idiot was stopped with a dog that ran right in front of my car. Making us stop in a very bad spot. I'm so missed at those people. Lady gave me an ugly look on top of everything. If you have a pet and near an offloading trail keep him on leash or at least hold him back... those people and dog have literally screwed me up for a month. Still no jeep too so it's not over.
Great video man! Man! I was planning to go to that Tacoma World event, but my wife had second thoughts with the rise of Covid. Hopefully next year though. Yah, when there is no wind at the beach in summer time, it gets tough with the mosquitoes getting really bad. I've experienced that before lol. Great stuff man! Keep them coming!
Heading out there in a couple weeks.Just the wife & I. What advice can you give us for a 29’ Fifth Wheel pulled by a Chevy 2500HD Duramax Diesel? We absolutely ❤ the beach and sand!
You have options! I saw some safe spots on beach access 3. Noticed several RV’s there. Just a few yards from the beach. The other may be to set up on the hard packed beach closer to beach access 6. Don’t stray too far if the weather looks bad. Perhaps do a reconnaissance mission of beach access 6 prior so you can gauge for yourself. You’ll have a great time. 🙌🏽
Good seeing you cleaning up the beach. I don’t know why people can’t pick up after themselves. They obviously like enjoying the outdoors and the area so why wouldn’t they also leave it that way for others to find it? Totally irks me! Beautiful out there!
@@CoastalGX I’m sure that stuff you picked up was left there by someone, but I think some of the stuff I’ve seen on the gulf side, washes ashore. I once found a coconut and large plastic containers at PINS that I was pretty sure washed ashore after I looked closely at the items. They were scattered all over and many miles down. And the beach looked like it was recently flooded. I remember thinking “man, these people are horrible!” Lol!
Awesome video bro ! I follow you and I started following Rey”Blue Lines 5.0. ! Love the content guys . We live in Corpus Christi so we hang out at PINS on the the other side of the cut hope to run in to you guys sometime.
I bought a 2011 just like Sandy a few weeks ago with the sole purpose of HOPEFULLY enjoying the OBX of NC this summer. I have since discovered your channel and it is awesome. I have a question concerning the comment you made about that Highlander or whatever it was that was stuck. Do you think my 2011 absolutely needs a lift in order to make it through the sand like you experienced in this video? Tires are definitely the first real upgrade, but is a lift mandatory for the GX to drive in deep sand ruts? Thanks for the inspiration man, you are living the dream.
Hi Dustin, congratulations on your GX. 2010-2013 are my favorite models. No need for a lift, but it does help reduce the amount of sand and seaweed that lodges into the frame and under armor. Getting some AT’s is a good idea for sure 🎥
Yes. I currently have a viair 300p portable off-road compressor. It does the job just fine, but the goal is an ARB onboard compressor. Maybe one day. 😊
I’ve drive down the Texas beaches for over 25 years and make around 150-200 trips a year and have never once aired down my tires. I’m sure it has its advantages but in my experience it’s unneeded
I agree, it’s not necessary. Neither is a kinetic rope, but the benefits are incredible. There is always room for improvement and we can all agree that techniques can change. Where one vehicle has to break the law and speed with momentum, I can crawl along at a low speed without stressing the components on my vehicle. Driving technique also has a lot to do with it. Thanks for sharing.
Hey buddy , great video. My wife and I have been going to those locations for years and we had lots of fun 🤩. We don’t camp at the beach, we stay at B/H rv area. We have seen a lot of weird things going on at the north beach 290 marker Lol 😂. We can’t wait to head out again this year, We have never seen you out there.
I do not know how y'all stay over night, in August. That Texas sun gives no foxes... Stay safe... Have you ever done a milky way shoot on Padre Island? It would be sweet if someone can set up a night shoot, milky way shoot.
I’ve dabbled with night photography but there’s always some issue that gets in the way. I took a few decent shots, but nothing that will win awards anytime soon lol. Yes, the mugginess makes it tough at night without a fan.
When you're pulling someone out with the kinetic rope, are you in 4HI or 4LO? Do you have VSC(TRAC/ATRAC) manually turned off? Is your center diff locked? Thanks a lot!
Im looking at making this trip for the first time. Any advice for a first timer. Itll be tacomas and a tundra we will be driving. How far from the surf should we camp? Looks like a great trip. How far down should we go for an enjoyable trip. Just looking to camp fish and hangout.
It’s best if your rides are 4x4 and you take at least some sort of recovery strap. You’ll find peace and tranquility past the 12th mile marker. I like going past mile 19, but that’s not necessary. Try camping closer to the dunes and keep an eye on the tides and bad weather. Don’t risk it if a strong cool front comes along.
I grew up on the beach my whole life, I was born in corpus Christi and spent every day on the beach that was possible, we never seen anyone except tourist deflate their tires and we would laff every time we seen them do it. It will not keep you from getting stuck in the sand . You just need to know how to drive in the sand. I've driven two wheel drive vehicles on the beach my whole life and have never been stuck. I've seen tourist who have lowered their Air pressure get stuck. You just need to know how to drive the beach 😂😂😂😂
I modified the heads of the stakes by grinding them into a square like head. That way, the universal socket grips it easily. Here is the link: amzn.to/3xJWIoB

I use my vehicle as a video production truck when I’m not at the beach so a drawer system doesn’t work for me. I use Frontrunner’s Wolfpack system since they stack nicely and are quite robust.
