    • @WildMorgan
      @WildMorgan Год назад +16

      @@Price70 Even if they had fought five years earlier, I still think Lewis wins it. Early 90s, not a chance, Mike would have been far too much for him, but from about 97 onwards, Lewis has him beat. It's a shame because you can't really compare them due to the fact they peaked at different times. Peak Tyson against peak Lewis would be an interesting match but it was an impossibility.

    • @Price70
      @Price70 Год назад +10

      @@WildMorgan I agree. I wasn't giving any specific timeframes but since you brought it up. Mike was a shell of himself after prison. Even without Rooney in 89 when he KOd Bruno and Williams, and in 90 when he KOd Tillman and Stewart and then his wins over Ruddock in 91, he still had his speed, even if he didn't rely quite as much on his footwork and head movements. Still at 6'5 with an 84 inch reach, that's a lot for anyone, especially if you're 5'10 and 71 inch reach

      it was over when Ali died. Not prison. Mike was even bigger coming out. He later stated that he was not prepared to die for a sport like Ali. Ali wanted to die at the end...Both locked up and faced prison. This guy is an anomaly.

    For a while, because of intense training and lifestyle, he was definitely the best in his division. Very difficult if not impossible to keep up that regime that brought him from a street thug to the youngest heavyweight in the world. He began to slacken, take punches, lack focus and dedication. While others in the heavyweight division began to grow stronger, some with steroids, and the once soft-spoken rising-star Tyson began to toughen his persona to compensate for his diminished dedication and skills. But, those of us who grew up watching his ascent really get him and love and respect him, knowing what he’s been through.
