Love the combination of materials utilized for this home. My favorite section was the hallway with wood walls and glass ceiling. Fantastic! Since I have a high tolerance for heat. It has to be at least 95 degrees farenheit before I would even think of using air conditioning imm not the biggest fan of what is it double e glass. But I do love that the houses use a little air conditioning. Great construction. Beautiful home! Enjoy!
It's crazy to me that 'built to last 100 years' is an exception not the norm'. The first word in 'sustainable' living should be structure that's built to last generations.
Why do you want to force future generations to adapt to and live in YOUR version of good/beautiful? Someone in 30, 50, or 70 years is going to say, "YUCK", to all that raw concrete. You're mighty presumptuous to think your taste in design is "timeless"
@@willbass2869 People are still looking for/buying/restoring Victorian, MCM, Modernist, Mediterranean houses etc. that have been around for decades. There’s a market for every kind of design. Taste is subjective. 100 years down the line, someone is still going to buy this and appreciate this even though to you this looks “yuck” lol
@@mglrayo most victorians, mcm etc are derivative. Nothing especially noteworthy really. No famous architect, no historical event or person in the house. It's just a structure to keep the rain off your head I'm sure the builder/1st owner of a vic or mcm etc thought they were building for posterity, right? Now....meh! The Vics look like some Hollywood film set and Mediterraneans look ghastly in some Boston or Nashville suburb. So out of place and often pretentious. You can't. It's just not good audio mixing @thelocalproject don't know if this was Oco or Cheersquad but they need to fix their levels. There's gotta be more separation
I kind of wonder about the builder-owner's words about enjoying this house as he grows old and how timber would change and the house would age. This raw concrete obsession is relatively new (or renewed I should say). I wonder if we can see some examples of aged raw concrete and timber houses to see how it looks after it ages for a decade or two? I have a hard time imagining what it would look like....
What a fantastic and ambitious couple! The house is absolutely extraordinary, and the view (quite literally) elevates the experience to another level. Congrats!
What happened to weekenders in locations like this, somehow we’ve gone from humble small fibro cottages to concrete bunkers that fill 95% of the block and resemble supermarket car parks. Probably lovely from the inside, but butt ugly and oversized from the outside. Poor residents of Gerrigong.
Environmentally, it’s unwise to only build with concrete. Concrete accounts for over 8% of the worlds, CO2 emissions, and it is only bested by oil and gas. It’s the cement in concrete that is the environmental enemy; here in the Netherlands, we’ve been legislating to reduce concrete construction.
I agree with everything you say regarding concrete, wood is the way to go. Fortunately, that house appears very large so there will be plenty of room for two egos.
Only if you are a climate change acolyte - carbon dioxide is the gas that all life on earth depends on and the world needs more CO2. BTW your government is also trying to destroy your citizens access to affordable food through similar agenda driven legislation that has no scientific validity.
Right now, that might be a problem, but there are ways to make concrete carbon neutral. Like using electric kilns that capture the emitted carbon from “baking” the limestone into lime. So we better work on making energy clean, *cheap* and *abundant* for electric kilns with carbon capture to become competitive with gas-powered kilns. And we better fund the development of these technologies instead of moping around and making symbolic pledges to use less concrete. Because even if we’re building private homes out of wood (which comes from where, considering there are hardly any real forests in the Netherlands), we’re still gonna be using gigantic amounts of concrete for large buildings and public infrastructure. And cutting the market for concrete down might just hamper the industry’s transition to carbon neutrality, because there’s less and less money in it.
Amazing looks like an italian architecture of sant elia or the style of milano palace of justice , is very nice not to see that plastic and timber houses, i would like to see the bath areas i would like the builder add some marble it willbe perfect
Jay Francis was the architect while he was at FF. He travelled Europe and studied all facets of design and if you follow his work will see who designed the house.
Another video that makes me regret being born to working class blokes. May the invisible hand of the market be with you, blessed be the whales of Wall Street for we are krill, Amen.
Yea right dream home. Dream home that can sleep 16 people and rent on air b&b for $11000 for 3 nights. People like this just ruin small coastal communities

Would have like to have seen the bedrooms and how they feel being underground. Fantastic views from this house.
One of my favourites in the whole series. Dudes living the dream.
Absolutely stunning design with breathtaking views
This house looks like it really emerged from the environment. Love it.
That bird 🐦that kept flying through the shots is the star of the show, beautiful home.
Functional sculpture. A monumental work of art !
One of the most stunning projects you‘ve ever shared 🙏🏼
Amazing house that 5 minutes couldn't do it justice! Love TLP but for homes like this we need a longer overview like how Bunkeren was.
Perks of being a builder.. put everything the wildest ideas. Beautiful!

Thank you so much, I was contemplating concrete off-grid or steel, the bunker did it for me.
Your house is a true work of art. Beautiful!
This is what is important with quality design, getting better with age.
Amazing project, ✌🏻

Beautiful house, amazing spot and the surf is crankin.
Love love love this house. This would be my dream house!!! So beautiful. Love the concrete

The music is too loud. It makes it difficult to hear your conversation.
again, your audio mix has the music too loud, can barely hear the people being interviewed....

❤❤❤
When money is no object.
😍
How much would this be??
Land was 1.7M in 2019, plus build, so I'm guessing 4+

Its nice but the architecture lacks a seamless flow in my opinion, especially in the pool and outside space and the street side. missed potential
It'll last 100 years but I'm not sure about rising sea levels.
