These runs are absolutely awesome to watch. I suck at screen scrolling and get frustrated when I try. I always can get Link to turn but he goes to the next screen, every now and then I get off a scroll. I wish I had your combat skills as well. I also missed the memo on how to warp properly with the recorder. My PB is 50:46, if I could better at screen scrolling, I want to shoot for 45 minutes. I'm not gonna waste my time shooting for a 30 minute run!
My mom could beat it in just about 45 mins back in the late 80's without dying. Speed running wasn't a thing back then. She just picked one game and got really good at it. Metroid, Goonies 2, Final Fantasy, Kid Icarus, Zelda , Adventures of Link, Dragon Warrior, Lolo, Deadly Towers and a few more that I can't remember that she would obsessively play until she couldn't get any better.
Hey Lack? I'm assuming the level 7 wall master room would just go faster using the bow and using the bubbles to boost you towards the staircase? I know it may affect your count and it also is easier said than done but that's really the only room I felt it could have been a lot easier.

Congrats with another great run and PB! That was a nice run, even though some moments weren't as nice as the end results. Spawning RNG and mistakes being made play a big role in speedruns, but you still managed to get a PB, even with a few times you saying "was a bad (name of place here)"!
I have a second comparison that I switched to. It takes all the possible timesave in the entire run and front loads it to the first split. Then for every other split, the segment is the best segment I've ever had. This just shows how much potential time there is and provides an alternate way to look at splits.
Just watched the great SMB1 speedrunner Kosmic beat SMB1 and japanese SMB2 with the NES Powerglove. So that gave me the idea: "Lackattack beating Zelda 1 with Powerglove (instead of the standard NES gamepad)" No idea if you got that glove or if it's too hard or too expensive to get one. But what do you think about this idea? Love your Zelda 1 speedruns and also those speedrun tournament speedruns and Zelda 1 randomizer "speedruns". I'm also still curious about how fast you can do a speedrun for Zelda 1 when beating the levels/dungeons in chronological order (1 to 9) - with all possible glitches - and and not the famous speedrunning routes :) Still hope I can watch any speedrun live on Twitch someday :)

It unlocks the door in that level. When you leave/enter a dungeon, the door opposite the entrance will be automatically opened.
I'm kinda glad that the speedrunning communitys moved away from these types of runs. I think that deathwarps are interesting.
