Goal - Fight your way through 255 rooms to save Princess Zelda! Collect items and hearts along the way as enemies get stronger and grow in number. Face bosses when you least expect it! Rooms are randomly generated as you progress through the dungeon. Use the link above to try the game yourself!

Do you think you will be able to fix whatever's going on with the DPCM channel? All the sampled audio is getting cut off

@@arnpoly This reminds me of something I started work on but never finished, that being a "mega-dungeon" (1, or I guess 2, dungeon(s) taking up the entire map) hack, so this is really cool to see and I look forward to playing it later today. By "more to come" do you mean updates to this? Or a new project?

This would make for an interesting segment for AGDQ---4 way race....especially if each runner had a different initial seed....
I just recently found the z1m1 (Zelda 1 - Metroid 1) randomizer by Metalmachine and have been binge watching people playing it. I would LOVE to see you do this game one day.

Early wand and shield really helped! 🙂 Sure, Lack lost the shield pretty quickly, but he's WAY skilled enough to challenge the WRobes without it.

255 rooms equals the original nes zelda rupee limit due to hexadecimal. Love the little touch on that.

However, maybe it's my audio-nerd talking but for future videos/streams, it would be great if you had a better microphone set up.
The flanging on your voice (likely due to proximity to your desk or the pickup pattern of the microphone) can be fatiguing on the ears, especially over long periods of time.

Pretty awesome. A select screen on the beginning would be cool. A "normal" progression and "advanced" progression modes.

Christmas eve is a year of no Zelda. Had to work on school. I've missed playing Lack, but proud to say we got a 4.0 in web 1 and a 3.5 in GDES! Big accomplishment , n just wanted to share.

Shops should be choices between two items, should have rooms that give/take money, difficulty should scale faster, some rogue-lite mechanics would be great, fairy rooms, a difference between what is likely to appear if you go left, right, up, down etc

Reminds me of the Varia Randomizer for Super Metroid, which I love.
If you dig this, check out Infinite Hyrule and Fred Coughlin's Zelda 1 Randomizer. They will totally randomize the overworld and the dungeons. Run your rom through Z1R first, then Infinite Hyrule, and you have a whole new quest.

Due to the ability to only end at 255 that's the last level. I thought it was going to go into the thousands when I beat it last month good luck my final score was 1 hour 41 minutes it times it on the final screen

You're getting a lot of hearts. I've seen a couple playthroughs where hearts were few and far between.
Yeah, it's all random. I've had runs with few hearts as well
Eager to see second quest
It was a little underwhelming at the end. It would be cool if the second quest had loads of darknuts and wizrobes on the same screen.
Second quest steps it up for sure, will be highlighted in a future video

I'd be curious to know how the game handles enemy sets, since in the normal game each dungeon is assigned a specific set of enemies.

I can't get the patch to work. I've patched the rom, but every time I start the dungeon, the game crashes. I've tried multiple roms. Is there a particular rom version I need to use?
According to the readme, you need PRG1 version.
Is it possible to get all items and max health? Also can you get your shield back if you lose it?
I'm not sure. This is the 1.1 version, there is now a 3.0 version with a lot more features. I haven't been able to collect everything yet in one run
@@LackAttack Have you tried runs where you go up whenever possible? I wonder if that'll increase the chances for old men.
So, if room changes are randomized, does it even matter which direction you go? Seems like a straight line would be essentially the same thing unless I'm missing something?
Yeah, you want to just go up and down mostly since they take less time to transition than left/right.
So I have the file is there a special emulator or something to download to play it, cause I tried a few and they dont work.
Have to have the ROM, it's outlined on romhacking.net. there are instructions as well for how to patch a ROM
