    Thanks for this video. I haven't decided which city, or environs, I would go to yet but am going to put in a good word for Phoenix seeing as 'smaller' always ranks better with commenters. I have been all over the world and can say that Phoenix is one of the cleanest and best planned big cities I have been to. Yes, Tuscon can be 'quirky' (and that is cool) but would add there that 'quirky' can be fun but also get old (in a hurry). I have lived it too.

    Way too dry for me, I'll stick with the gulf coast.

    Way too hot for me! I have a sister and a brother there and my parents used to be in Sun City but they passed away both of them in March and I'm in Oregon and I love it here. I love the rain and the cool weather. I don't know why so many people are flocking Arizona . I don't understand it but no thank you I thought of it for a very brief minute, but it was very brief and decided I'm gonna stay here

      It’s funny though-I have so many people
      moving from Oregon to AZ. Must be a reason but aren’t we all lucky to have choices? The USA has something for everyone for sure. Thanks for watching my channel!!

    Excellent comparison of both areas for those of us that aren’t sure where we might land yet!
    I know you specialize in 55+, but do you ever take on people who may decide a 55+ isn’t for them and decide to go in the direction of a neighborhood? Or who just don’t know yet whether they will go with a 55+ or a mixed-aged neighborhood? Thanks, Regina

    Terrible idea, neither place is the Arizona of snowbirds,Sun City, golf carts or a" dry heat" climate. Tucson is clearly, head and shoulders better than the greater Phoenix area. Both cities have had a growth explosion that has them experiencing everything you don't want crime, traffic, high prices, crowds and big city issues. Tucson is clearly smaller and more easy to manage. Places like Prescott, Sedona, Flagstaff and Pinetop are all in demand to the point were there is upward pressure on everything, housing prices and supply. Arizona is not a cowboy town, the desert is covered w houses and stucco strip malls for as far as the eye can see

      Interesting comment. I'm wondering which city you live in? Or do you live somewhere else? We do have plenty of great places for retirees and Snowbirds. Golf cart communities abound in both cities. Traffic has increased slightly yes but retirees in a 55+ community won't have traffic for their commute to the pool or pickleball court. I drive a lot in both Phoenix and Tucson and its a rare event that I get stuck in traffic. I'm thinking either you live here and don't want more people arriving or you haven't had a chance to really explore yet. Either way thanks for watching and commenting!

    Given out lack of US BORDERS ....I'm saying NO to the Southwest!

    • @Southwest55Plus

      I'm with you on the lack of control at the borders but for the most part the new arrivals get on the first bus or plane out of the area. We don't have the type of work that they are qualified to do so they go to big cities where they can find work. But oddly enough, the recent arrivals outnumber the locals in Bowling Green Kentucky. They've got factories there where they can find employment. Don't rule out the Southwest--it is other areas that are really taking the brunt of this sadly.

    Arizona was the third-fastest-warming state in the US between 1970 and 2018, according to a Climate Central study. And a recent ProPublica study suggested the Phoenix region will be among the country's least-habitable by 2050, with half the year spent at temperatures above 95F.

      @Southwest55Plus  7 месяцев назад +1

      It’s a desert. We know that. It has always been hot here. Those studies are brought to us by the same people who gave us Covid and then sold us Covid vaccines. I’m not trusting any of them or their data. If that’s your thing then AZ probably isn’t your place anyway. I hear that NYC is great these days. Maybe check that out. Talk about “least-habitable” …
