Clint… thanks for helping the Cap’n out. I watched you pull it out and haul it… so I know it wasn’t easy or cheap. But, you sent it to the right place for a resurrection. If this project follows true to Cap’n K form… Soon, it’ll be doing stuff no backhoe was ever designed to do!
Clint, I really am enjoying the content. Mike is fun to watch as he figures stuff out. I am learning a lot about diesel engines and a lot of stuff that you are an expert at. Thank you for being generous with your time and resources.
Two unusual videos in two days. Yesterday I watched NYA Milliniel showing a castle and now Captain Kleeman gets a backhoe! The world is still spinning in the right direction. This will be fun to follow.
C & C boys, well the whole family seems to be good people. Clints sons are very respectful boys and are learning so much from there dad, grandfather and Kevin. I really enjoy the connection that your channel and the others have, nice community. Stay safe brother. You need a good heavy set of jumper cables, I built mine out of welding cable, 25 foot long, works great.
Cap’n she’s a beaut! It won’t be long before you have her purring like a lion… unless you put a muffler on it… then we’ll say ‘kitten’. A while back Neil Koch and I had a conversation about “tinkering”. We agreed that some of us get satisfaction from repairing, restoring or repurposing things. Every decision, effort and part you put into it builds that satisfaction. Although the gain from having a working gadget is a factor, the majority of the reward comes from having solved the riddle. Especially when you look at the object and see all of your personal touches in the finished product. Me thinks this project has a lot of opportunities for a ‘tinkerer’ like you to bathe yourself in satisfaction! Thanks for taking us along for the adventure!
A Extremelt Ford Backhoe stand in the Nature and rust away. You will him new Living to give! A Project what a long Time to consume. The success???? Run on stand? But Work with him??? A great Lottery!
Seeing this machine takes me back about 45 years. When I started working for the WVDOH, one of the first new pieces of equipment we received was a Ford 550 backhoe. It served for about 15 years if memory serves, and wasn't a bad machine. Simple and easy to repair. Good luck with your 555.
Not only does C&C Equipment have great videos and content, Clinton and Kevin are right down hilarious when they get working together, lol. Anyway, was very generous of Clinton, his Dad and Kevin to take the time to bring this 555 to you. Should be a fun project for you to get up and running. Good luck and will be looking forward to future videos.
You have yourself a good little project there and a mighty workhorse for around the property. C&C Equipment are great operator and business owners - have an awesome channel.
Good luck captain, that starter is really slow get those battery cables shortened and I would take the starter off and check it before injectors and pump then a little ether to check if it wants to try and start.look forward to the next one
I think you will enjoy it when it is up and running, I currently have a 1988 555B, my loader will lift the 2x2x6ft 3600-4000 lb concrete blocks with no problems. Mine doesn't have an enclosed cab or extend a hoe. Mine is 2 wheel drive also. They are very capable machines that accomplish a lot of work. ENJOY!! I am anxiously waiting for more videos with your 555!
I am by no means a mechanic; I spent a lot of time cutting my teeth on a 555B owned by one of the Methodist Camps I work with, which taught me a lot. It kicked my butt, but I learned a lot. I'm amazed you didn't show the frustration you must have had undoing the back bolts on the fuel tank. We rebuilt the injection pump, cleaned the tank, and still had weird fuel delivery issues that nobody else had the patience for, so I'm sad to say that machine went away this spring. The more I researched to keep ours going, the more quirks turned up for different machines. I am eager to watch your progress as you get this one going again.
Thanks for sharing your adventures in ownership of a new to you backhoe otherwise known to anyone who has watched bob the builder while babysitting as “Scoop”. Hopefully you are successful in waking Scoop up. Wishing you and your family the best.
Clint won't leave you hanging either. It's impossible to think what the guys knowledge level is. And yours is going up. I also was hoping it would start. You also need hours of content. Ta-da!

So Thankful for you having us along on another Project I’ll catch you on the next one, Keep It Safe Out There Sir
If you didn't have to do anything with the injectors I was going to be very surprised. I bet that'll get it at least started. Obviously lots of work to be done. Should be an excellent series. Thank you, Clint!!
Everyone should go check out C&C Equipment, for me its like watching your twice removed cousins work on stuff. They are a hoot and are building some very unique stuff right now! Keep at it Captain, thats going to make you a great piece of equipment.
Clint and that whole Team @ C&C are awesome to say the Least. Their Content is Top Notch, I Try my Darnedest to keep up with their Vidja’s. He is a Far Cry from just your Run of the Mill Heavy Equiptment Salesman, Fella is a Jack of all Trades and I’m Betting He’s Perfected a Few of those Trades.
24v system needs 24v to turn it over fast enough plus you need to check and see if the glow plugs are heating up before you try to start it. Get the right batterry cables and ends on the tractor before you burn up a expensive starter, yes make sure you bleed all the lines I had a kabota engine that sat 10 years I replaced the glow plugs and it has cranked perfectly since.

Great addition for the channel. Thanks to C&C for helping out. In Clinton's video of the "recovery", Kevin seemed to be almost all business, instead of the usual ''cut up' that comes out during their 'shop work' videos 😎
This backhoe, if you keep it; is going to be a game changer for you there Mike. Excellent addition to the homestead and will be so helpful once you get it straightened out and everything fixed on it. Good video. Spicy! LOL! Stay well. -Wil 👍
Captain great video, you’ll find a way to get it going! Clinton, Kevin and Clinton’s Dad are awesome! I started watching C&C when Dirt Perfect first got his new dozer! They go above and beyond on everything they do! Thanks for sharing! Kevin
You are so lucky to have friends that help you. Good luck getting it running right. I am sure you can use it there on the property. Oh love you channel.
I'm a sub to the C&C equipment channel and from what I've seen and from Mike Dirt Perfect's commentary about Clint and his crew he's definitely an outstanding owner / operator with a business plan other business owners should emulate. When it comes to replacing all the missing areas on the cab the best way to weld in new metal is with Tig welding. It's earier to kearn and cheaper than stick welding material wise. Plus it gives a better looking weld. There's plenty of how to Tig weld tutorial vids here on RUclips. Most arc welders have adapter kits for Tig welding available. At one point in my work history I was an Ironworker certified welder. I had that kit for my personal arc welder at home for home projects. All in all this series looks like it's gonna be a really entertaining one watching the Captain getting this rust bucket working again and it'll definitely be handy on his overgrown homestead property and building projects.
Mike I have no doubt you’ll get the 555 running and working on your property. Compared to other YT channel’s your audio with or without the mic is spot on Sir. You can tell you care about the quality of your video’s good luck and God bless your family and the CC family you both are my kind of people. I forgot DP’s family he’s in there to.

Hey Red Dog @21:36 Looks like Captain Kleeman could use one of those super cool pocket pry bars that Clinton and Kevin were showing off while building up that PowerSmoke engine they decided to install in the “Shop Truck”.
I've had a backhoe since 2002. I can't believe I farmed without one! They are just so handy to have. Hope you don't have a fortune in getting it up and running. Good luck! Lee
Hey Cap!! Congrats on the new to you backhoe. Can't wait till you get her operational again. Big thanks to Clint and the C&C family for helping you out. Cap, Clint will work for Chick-fil-A sandwiches I've heard.
Captain Kleeman learned a new word and was using it heavily in the first part of the video. Everything was "spicy." The bees, the battery cables, and whatever else. LOL! Spicy!
It’s 2wd, but it’s heavy and will have a lot of grunt. Look forward to seeing it make smoke and sling some dirt. It’s a good, older machine with good parts availability as well as being able to just make or cross reference parts.
Kerosene in that fuel tank breaks down sludge supper easy and any extra left in tank will help clean injectors and carbs. Old timers swear by Kerosene to clean both diesel and gas motors. Air filter being black as coal could be signs that it sucked fire and smoke. Turning over sounds like no compression.
Well done Mike! Yes Clint (and the C&C boys) right from seeing his first video struck me as an "all round good guy", just look at the condition of his plant, workshop and yard, not least, the great repour between him, Kevin, Clint's Dad and sons! My only complaint (much to the happiness of my bank manager, - I am sure!) is that C&C are half a world away! IMHO, Capt K, C&C and Dirt Perfect are in the top of the top 10 You Tubers!
What I have learned for diesel engines is. They love fuel pressure. The more pressure the better. Since you barley got they to squirt. I would look at the pump and make sure the lines are clear. Even if you have a good pump that water could clog the lines with rust. Tank to injectors. Bleed all the lines to rule it out. Get matt from diesel creek he pretty good at fixing old equipment.
Very much looking forward to this! Projects are fun! Never forget the fun part! And as you mentioned the usefullness of this is just a godsend when on a tight budget.
Captain Kleeman projects just hit a new level of "OH YEAH" with the addition of the backhoe. Going to be some good videos for sure. Tristar Diggin' Sam
This little Ford takes me back half a century Thought what are they thinking of a three cylinder tarctor? Never take off and yet it was one of their better engines to service, repair and generally work on. We even brought out a 523 IH and it was far to tchnical and complicated to catch on and the Ford kept on kept on. You Mike have a great project to learn from and when and I mean when you understand it a tad more and it becomes a runner you will wonder, how did we manage before the 555 arrived. An awsome machine and I look forward to watching and living the project through your RUclips postings. The thing about the project is if you get stressed with something all you have to do is look for something that needs some welding and straightening, it is amazing how much a hammer helps with stress if you have something worthwhile that need hitting. lol. Stay safe and the best wishes to the family and not forgetting the dog.
I got an early 80s 555 myself. Good machines. My foot pedal controls the cheap titan thumb I welded on since I don’t have the entendahoe. Sounds like your starter could still be weak though. Mine turns over a lot faster. Make sure you check the filter in the bottom of the tank, mine fell off and debris would clog up the line. I wanna say $20-30 got me a new valve with strainer. I do remember breaking the old ones threads off in the tank, that was fun! Good luck!
MIke, you are very fortunate to know Clint at C&C. Top notch people. You will get this running and in use, I have no doubt of it. I know it take a lot to do this filming, edit and produce all while trying to actually do work. Very much appreciated. Thanks very much for sharing.
I don’t know if you know a story how dirt perfect and CNC became good buddies. It got off to a pretty Rocky store lol! But the maturity of both parties was demonstrated.
I hope it all works out for you in the end
Always love helping fellow RUclipsrs
Definitely excited for this project. Can't thank you enough!
