Fun Fact: The first Gas Coupe to pull off a wheel stand was Junior Thompson of Downey California in his Chevy powered '41 Studebaker. He was unaware of it until returning to the pits where the fans and crew met him with great enthusiasm about it.
Putting the working man back in the seat, well done! I remember backed up against the chainlick fence in the pits with my dad and brother at the fremont race way. The only thing missing is the bleach burn out
Up until the mid 1960's about... NHRA's Gas Coupes and Sedans were required to return to the pits under their own power and had starter motors too... I think that changed before 1967... Do the SEG's follow that today...?
Yes the SEGA cars have to drive to the staging lanes and have to drive back after the run. We do have a hardship case if someone has water pump problems or something like that but it's only a one time deal and we would check to be sure they had a problem.
Yea, not our favorites because they are to shinny but they are the ones made by american rebel that are exactly copies of the big window halbriand. the fronts are the small window copies. The ones Rocket and some other companies make are NOT legal.
Last I saw the car he had a late style manifold and sideways centerfeed Holleys. He's always had 'C/Gas' on the car, too. SEG rules, at their website, say old style induction and A/Gas on the car.... this might be it??
Thanks for the up date on the night stalker. I got a chance to meet Greg Porter & see the stalker run out in Bakersfield California during the hot rod reunion.
Greg has not ran with the SEGA for a while now. The SEGA is small time to him, he's more into the big stuff like Bowling Green HRR or the big deal in Ca. Even tho all that stuff is bracket racing he still has a chance to be in the Magazine and that means a lot to some people. We will just stick with the little small ma and pa tracks around the country and let the big shows have all of the attention.
Has to be the same hater that downvotes the Wilson's Skull Garage. They're a wonderful family and it was their videos that found the SEG for me. LOVE the drone footage in this video!! MORE, MORE, MORE!!!!
Thanks for the compliment on the drone footage. I wish I had more time to fly during the events. I film everything at the events (including all the starting line, down track and GoPro footage) and the only real time I have now to put the drone up is during qualifying. I wish there was enough of a break to put the drone up after the first round of elimination the crowd was crazy by then.
Ryan Check out the match race between two SEGA cars that just came out on motor trend TV. Below is a link to a teaser video. to see the show you have to join Motor trend on demand but they have a 14 day free trial. This will hold you over until the Clay city Video gets finished. facebook.com/MotorTrendOnDemand/videos/516925168659042/?hc_ref=ARRm2Lqbvm0m7-F8q9DgSkgWFZ-ZltSOxkIdhUyZAX18ew2F-omrCFUQjkD3BHz26HY&pnref=story
Rear fender radius makes a Gasser. Dump trucks have straight axles and stick shift. Putting a straight axle in a pro street car doesn't make a Gasser - tell the guy with the red car.
I'm a real nazi about radiused rear fenders... I remember the Modified Production cars and the requirement to hide their slicks. From 1000 feet away, you could tell a Gasser going down the track... even if you couldn't see the straight axle up front. My hero, Ralph Ridgeway, was M/P champ for the mid 60s.
From the stands, all you can see is a M/P car. Or a street freak. Show me all the pictures of A and C Gassers with hidden tires in the 1967 Hot Rod magazines. Some D gassers ran narrower slicks that worked with the tiny engines. The Wilson's Bad Penny is a perfect example.
Just gotta understand the argument correctly; So we are talking about the red car at 4:16 right? And the argument is that the fenders has to cover the rear wheels? Tbh I think they should make a class like in the original Gasser rules, where no V8s were allowed, just inline-6 and inline-8s iirc. Would be great to see some inline-8s out there again.
My understanding is the red Nova is ran by a founding member who was there before it really became a thing. If you read the rules there is an exception for a certain person(s). Understandably.
I can understand your feeling that more racing is better... make two videos or one longer? But for those of us who couldn't be there to talk to the racers, interviews are great!
The southern crew, i voted up before viewing, cause i know its good times again. Thanks for the movie
I am just SOOOOO happy for you all and simply love what you all are doing.
Mike
I grew up on 60's drag racing and the SGA has brought 60's racing back to life!
Thanks for the love Lance!
southeast gasser fantastic coverage look forward to watch more old is gold love it
Maybe if drag racing had always been this way, so many of us would never have walked away. Keep up the good work. God Bless
We do try hard to make it the way it was Richard. we tighten the rules a little more each year so it will get better and better.
i wait for these and cant wait for next race,AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was great I was their! Thanks for coming!!
OHHHH SNAP!! Look what time it is!!
Good ol' boys gone bad in a good way. Can't get enough.
Thanks for the support Roger.
Wonderful video! Thanks for sharing.
Great racing, thanks y'all.

nice, got some sweet gasser action to watch tonight
Putting the working man back in the seat, well done! I remember backed up against the chainlick fence in the pits with my dad and brother at the fremont race way. The only thing missing is the bleach burn out
It's great to have Mitch back in the booth!
Awesome !
Don't forget July 28th 2018....they'll be back!! I'll be there again. This is a MUST SEE event if you like drag racing.
Thanks for the support NeilB7. Keep spreading the work and we will pack that place again.
It's funny they should mention period correct! Because the only Lyons drag racing track was in California and it's been shut down for a long time!

You guys deserve a lot of credit. I'll see you at Mooresville on Aug. 17th.
@@ThomasDeLello Thanks for the support. Hope to see you at one of our races.
Are those wheels on the red Nova C/G winner legal to run with Southeast Gassers rule book?
Yea, not our favorites because they are to shinny but they are the ones made by american rebel that are exactly copies of the big window halbriand. the fronts are the small window copies. The ones Rocket and some other companies make are NOT legal.
Haven't seen Greg Porter & The Night Stalker 55. Is the car still running or is he working on something else?
Last I saw the car he had a late style manifold and sideways centerfeed Holleys. He's always had 'C/Gas' on the car, too. SEG rules, at their website, say old style induction and A/Gas on the car.... this might be it??

That vette pulls on the top end.
Agreed - it's scary all the way from the starting line to the finish line!
6 O'clock a.m. on the 15th... and there's a downvote????
I'm upvote #23.
There is one hater that gives a down vote the minute the video comes out everytime. It's hilarious.

I saw myself by my moms umbrella
Did you enjoy the race? Hope you got to talk with the drivers!
1776vtgmb yes I got to talk to a lot of them it was great!
Perfect! I know you'll be watching all the youtube videos of the races that you can't attend.
Do you have a favorite car?

It looks like a pro street car but it isn't. It doesn't have 4 link or any or the modern stuff.

To much talk.
Yeah, more cars less chat.

Get them talking about their cars; current problems, future plans etc.
