    Sydney, Your video is excellent! Really outstanding! I can't tell you how helpful your information and explanation will be to any one who is facing this. I had an ileostomy several years ago, and NO ONE gave me any information that was useful. It is terrifying to go through this while you're "in the dark" about everything. So many questions, and no answers. THANKS so much for your video!

    Thank you for this video. I have a friend who recently had to have an Ileostomy done to save her life after having Covid for the second time that resulted in a blockage in her large intestine. Since the blockage destroyed her large intestine. She has tried explaining it to me but as she is still figuring things out herself it has not been easy.

    Thanks Sydney, was wondering where you'd got too, was getting worried to be honest. I had my colostomy last June..it was ok for first few months, now belly stuck out.. think the op. Weakened my abdomen, otherwise healthy. Can't get much info.from Doc. Please keep posting the vids, think I enjoy yours the most, well explained.

      Thank you Andrew. I hope you get some answers soon from the Doc. It seems like a battle so often with the medical professionals and it shouldn't be that way. I do want to put more content out but it takes me ages to come up with something that I think people will find useful. 😂

    Can you personally choose to have colostomy higher up? Only reason for asking is because im in my 20s and it would affect my sex life... Great videos btw a lot of useful content put into a simple way👍

    • @sydneystoma385
      @sydneystoma385  2 года назад +3

      I think you could ask. I think to have it higher up they would need to remove a bit more of the large intestine. Mine does not affect my sex life, the bags fold in half to make them more discreet. And you can get waist bands that cover them. I have done a video on sex with an ostomy, that maybe worth a watch.

    When you have a bath mate without your bag on do you have anything other than warm water in the bath.?

    • @sydneystoma385
      @sydneystoma385  2 года назад +3

      Hi Roger. I do like a hot bath. Taking the bag off just feels so much better. I use bath products such as bath bombs, bubble bath etc. It has not caused me a problem. I have used oil based products in the bath which can make the skin a bit tricky for the bag to adhere to. But generally aslong the skin is good and dry no issues.

    Dear Mr Sydney Stoma,
    Please can you tell me the name of the hospital and the surgeon who did your Colostomy.
    The reason I ask is because I too have a slow bowel and I cannot defecate without medication. At my last hospital they only offered me an ileostomy. I have been referred to a new surgeon in the hopes of having a Colostomy but after recent phone calls I have been given no hope that this will happen.
    An ileostomy will only take me from one hell into another. If I could get my doctor to refer me to a surgeon who understands that a Colostomy is required for slow bowel, my hope can be renewed.
    I look forward to hearing from you.

    • @sydneystoma385
      @sydneystoma385  2 года назад +1

      Hi. I can see you have a slow bowel, what condition have you been diagnosed with? It is generally in the large intestine where things can be very slow. So I can understand why they may have recommended an ileostomy, however I don't know what your condition is assist with an answer. Are you UK based? My surgery was at the Luton and Dunstable University Hospital.

      I don't think there are any issues with becoming pregnant with an Ostomy. But always worth discussing pregnancy with your stoma team.

      I mean no disrespect, but your style of writing is unusual. Is there a reason (why) you use so many periods between sentences? Again I am just curious, because it is definitely unique.
