Yep, already watched it! They definitely went the extra miles to take care of you!! They offered me a job after I questioned them showing grinding a shaft before straighting it. They do appreciate people who pay attention to details!
the heavy smoke is the nature of the beast , in 1964 Sask Dept of hi-ways purchased several TD 25's and they all smoked heavy, IHC advised the 817 CU engines nature was heavy dark exhaust, in 1968 Clark Construction purchased a brand new IHC TD-30 with 817 Cu inch engine Power shift , it was a brute could push a mountain and it rolled the coal!
I watched Area Diesel's rebuild of this Turbo and to find a company that goes over and above to accommodate older equipment when others would just shine it on are golden
You came out on the good side of that deal, you have an almost brand new turbo that is the last one on the planet for a cheap rebuild price. You two aren't used to working with equipment that starts that easy ,unless its your SuperLiner. Happy Thanksgiving to you and Matt.
They did tend to smoke... I'm not sure I would say they smoked that much though. Hard to tell as it seemed like it cleaned up more after the engine got some heat in it. I'd feel better if it had an EGT gauge if a person is going to keep it under sustained loads. Or back the fuel off and call it a day.
Very interesting video that Area Diesel did explaining the process and rebuild of this old turbo. They really know their stuff and kudos for being open about the initial mistake with original bearing choice. Nice work all round.
Glad you to the old girl up and running again. Sounds great. Thanks for another great video Sam. Happy Thanksgiving to you all. Take care and stay safe.
I worked my last 20 years with a major diesel engine distributor in Central California. I my position I had regular dealings with both the California Air Resources Board and the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District. I know people within both of those organizations that would go into full blown vapor lock if they saw this video. I'll probably be able to stop laughing in an hour or so. I used to have a global map that showed the countries that required and used advanced emission technology on diesel engines. Western Europe and North America are the only counties who have required advanced emission technology across the board of both auto and industrial applications. The costs of advanced emission technology engines is about 4 times that of simplest emission technology engines. 100 HP engine, you're talking $8,000 for simple technology and $25,000+ for today's advanced technology. Western Europe and North American economies have had to compete with the rest of the world with these costs disadvantages. Nobody likes filthy air - DUH. Why has China, India, and South America been allowed to lag so far behind in requiring advanced emission technology ? We all know the answer to that question? Politics and corruption, or was it corruption and politics -
I think China's making efforts now but the poor countries just don't care and can't afford this anyway. Watching CNC Equipments auction videos he said a lot of the clapped out old equipment noone in their right mind would touch is bought sight unseen and shipped off to 3rd world countries where it is just endlessly patched up by guys in flip flops working in the dirt on the side of the road like on the Pakistani mechanics videos.
Ran a TD25 years ago as my daily driver in the Early 90s. Probably a thousand hours on this dozers Twin. They roll coal constantly. I would go home in the evenings and scrub my face from the soot. On extremely windy days I wore goggles, and would look like a raccoon at the end of the day. Great video, thanks for the memories.
Area Diesel must be commended for their integrity in handling of this job! (watched their video, too). They did a great job after owning up to the bearing problem. Glad you got things running, but wish the black smoke was a bit less.
😂 Both smart guys together, NICE! I like watching Scrappy (came to him via Diesel Creek) and Matt appearing in the background, knowing something to the work, has some smile and some comment...🤘😎 Nice to see you both having a good time together. Greeting from southern Germany Joe
such a shame that There USED to be a HUGE IH plant not far from where I was raised as a child in Melrose Park Illinois, where the construction side of IH's plant was, and employed a HUGE amount of people, and by the 1980's is was all but gone,! What I do know about them is what they built, they built to last and they were touch machines. Always happy when I see a video on one that is being saved and used. Great work Sam!
Hi Sam watched the rebuild on area diesels channel guys done an awesome job on that turbo big thumbs up to them for admitting they made a mistake, they sure do look after their customers seems to be running great now take care and all the best to yourself and Matt 🔧🔧🔧👍👌❤️
you had so much fun the first time , lets do it again ... without failure. AreaDieselService is grand to stand behind this work . Hell of a lesson on upgrade of build , but a learn
Back in the day, "Turning It Up" meant taking a pair of Vice Grips to the Fuel Return line, but fuel was well under a dollar a gallon, and oil was supposed to be black, on Diesels anyway, LOL. You might want to look for a "modified" fuel return line, and just cut the modified part out, and throw a compression coupling over where it used to be. Good luck, She's a keeper!
That place looks like the boys with their old toys nirvana old shovels and drags everywhere you look. I have always been fascinated with tracked vehicles and got to operate an old D4 once thanks to a friend of my son. It was a blast. Happy Thanksgiving fellas.
Love watching you. People work on these 5060-year-old equipment. Trying to get him running. I think they made better equipment back in those days. However, I can go back a little farther. When I was a teenager, my grandfather taught me how to operate the steam tractors that the farmers use to use. So that tells you how old I am
I watched the Area Diesel vid and blown out of my mind on their explanations and their ultimate solution. How many places would have even admitted they goofed?????/
@AreaDieselService did you right , for Curtis and crew finding the mistake is the right thing to do. The businesses of today need to "Have" customer service as their number one goal then that is word of mouth advertising that bring loyalty the them!
Watching all these channels who use area diesel for their repairs, I recently called them concerning my sons truck 6.6 Duramax the man that I spoke to was very knowledgeable very patient with my questions and seems like a business that I would love to support when the time comes for injectors or any other other services
Sam,back in the 70's,I ran the TD-25s while in the the SeaBees, those crawlers smoked as well, but not as much as yours does when the turbo spools up. Definitely seems like the fuel was turned up,perhaps in an effort to counteract a the bad turbo that was on the engine, that's been twice rebuilt now. I can't recall any of those machines having any problems with the steering reservoir though, like yours is having,,perhaps it's cracked or that fitting is loose that you were talking about, that oils going somewheres,,may have to lift the floor plates and seat to find the problem, no fun tracking down leaks. On a brighter note,Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!!😎😎😎
It will have an internal leak in the steering control valve and will be loosing the oil into the tranny oil. Didn't think the 25C still had the oil resvior, the one I operated didn't, but we had 4 X 25 B s that all had the resivior and all lost oil, was a daily top up job in the morning. The 25B that I was on had been modified to run from the tranny oil system so had no separate steering oil system, it was a last of the 25B series.
I was thinking to much fuel as well. I know there is a thin line between power and to much fuel. Nice looking old machine and keep up the nice video's. Lee
Nice old dozer. I think it’s against some law to turn an injection pump down??? Thanks for the Videos. I really appreciated Area Diesels Video on the Turbo Failure and Repair. Don’t know much about the 817 IH Diesels, I don’t recall them being used in the agriculture side.
So does RUclips pay double when two Rock Stars are in the same video? I wondered about the coal coming out of the stack but I think it’s like Matt’s deuce an a half it’s just the way it’s made. Very nice dozer it’s just a cool looking machine I like the ROP it just looks cool.
She’s running well after that superb turbo rebuild, the area diesel really went the extra mile to correct the fault.. She’s pushing dirt now, running as sweet as a nut !!! Nice to see Diesel Creek Matt there… from over here !!! 🇬🇧🇬🇧
I told Matt from diesel Creek I built for my equipment some tracks and slide plexiglass to close my dozer loader and shovel from the elements and critters including engine I put some poison to keep them out from eating my wires
There is a lot more wrong with that than the turbo, the exhaust should be invisible, it even casts it own shadow it's so bad, and you're breathing that crap in all the time too, Cancer is on it's way.
With all due respect. They shouldn’t have to bear the total cost of the second rebuild They had to make parts that should have been made the first time. Yes they made a mistake. They also owned up to it. You admited the oil was a possible cause too.
CUSTOMER SERVICE IS ONE OF IF NOT ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS , WHEN YOU RUN A BUSINESS. BUT AS ALWAYS YOU WILL HAVE SOME PISS TAKERS . TO DEAL WITH. ITS EASEY TO TREAT EVEREY ONE AS THAY ARE TRYING TO HAVE YOU OVER , AND AT TIMES YOU GET THE ODD ONE, THAT WILL COST YOU . BUT MOST CUSTOMERS ARE NOT LIKE THAT . AND AREA DIESEL TREATS ITS CUSTOMERS FAIR . THAY DESERVE TO BE IN BUSINESS. AND MAY THAY HAVE PLENTY OF IT .
Great video! Love seeing the two speed steering levers in action. Jpaydirt solved the smoke problem on his 9er with a switch blade turbo. Might make a nice upgrade for the ih.
Great video sam . I watched the rebuild on the turbo. That was cool to see. Mistakes happen we only human . They stood behind that what counts. I run a TD 25 when I was young. I believe it smoked a lot. Thanks for sharing.
Happy Thanksgiving to You and Your Family. Great to see the IH pushing again and lasted more than 15 mins this time. Area Diesel also did a great job. Nice to see a company stand behind their products. Thank you for the video. Cheers.
Nice running IH, definitely a bit of a smoker, but its definitely a pusher, fun watching it run. See you went to the bull pen, so to speak, in having Mat from Diesel Creek to help out, nice to see him also. Good luck in the up and coming season of fun in the dirt. Thanks for the update young man.

The flayrod's gone askew off treadle!
Yep, already watched it! They definitely went the extra miles to take care of you!!
They offered me a job after I questioned them showing grinding a shaft before straighting it. They do appreciate people who pay attention to details!
WHY IS IT PUTING OUT SO MUCH BLACK SMOKE .
Always good to see a collaboration with your good friend Matt

Absolutely agree.

I was thinking the same.
She is turned up. Good
What for. Is it running hot
Gonna go straight from this to diesel creek have a great thanksgiving all !.
wow! One simple bearing! It goes to prove that experts know thier stuff and figured out how to trouble shoot and fix it.
Love the video Sam and Matt On the TD25C .
A Scrappy and Diesel Creek side dish to go with the Thanksgiving dinner. Thanks guys.
Very interesting video that Area Diesel did explaining the process and rebuild of this old turbo. They really know their stuff and kudos for being open about the initial mistake with original bearing choice. Nice work all round.
They know their stuff even better now. By "they", I mean the younger people there, they have relics that probably made the same mistake decades ago.
Loved the CW McCall references from Matt in there.
I'd try to cut back on fuel a little. Don't listen to those who say they run like that.
Gotta love that old equipment! I have a case 530 ck that's a good runner but parts take research to find.
Brilliant video Sam watching from Edinburgh Scotland UK 🇬🇧 👏
Glad you to the old girl up and running again. Sounds great. Thanks for another great video Sam. Happy Thanksgiving to you all. Take care and stay safe.
That intro logo animation was sweet!
HEY! Good morning Sam! Happy Thanksgiving to everybody and thumbs UP to Scrappy Industries!
MM77 Approved 👍🏻👍🏻
Have a look at the injector tips, they come out easy on that 817. They are smokie but not that much. Love your videos
Happy Thanksgiving Sam
My old international 175 rolls black smoke like that when its loaded up under load or changing directions and coming off the decel pedal
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family
What a unit
yall got it fixed that whats count
Turbos actually spin well over 50,000 rpm and in some cases over 100,000.
Dogs name is Frank

Great job and no wrench rolls were harmed in this video! She's a big beautiful machine!
Ran a TD25 years ago as my daily driver in the Early 90s.
Probably a thousand hours on this dozers Twin.
They roll coal constantly.

Kudos to Area Diesel Service for tracking down the cause and standing behind the service.
After watching Area Diesels video I was impressed with their honesty and integrity. Glad to see the 25 up and running.
That IH is a beast. Pretty cool that people can leave their heavy equipment at the show grounds.
Hi Sam watched the rebuild on area diesels channel guys done an awesome job on that turbo big thumbs up to them for admitting they made a mistake, they sure do look after their customers seems to be running great now take care and all the best to yourself and Matt 🔧🔧🔧👍👌❤️

Just curious why you guys didn't pour a little fresh oil in the turbo through the oil line hole before you put the line back on
We did both times. I think it’s a good idea
Way to go Area Diesel! Happy Thanksgiving!
TD25 was/is a strong, strong machine. They are beautiful as well. Love it!!!🚜
Love watching you. People work on these 5060-year-old equipment. Trying to get him running. I think they made better equipment back in those days. However, I can go back a little farther. I watched the Area Diesel vid and blown out of my mind on their explanations and their ultimate solution. How many places would have even admitted they goofed?????/
I'll wager Area Diesel would put that injector pump back to factory spec and eliminate it completely from the smoking issue.
Rebuild/replace the injectors. I believe the black smoke is caused by improper atomization of the fuel resulting in incomplete burn.
@AreaDieselService did you right , for Curtis and crew finding the mistake is the right thing to do. The businesses of today need to "Have" customer service as their number one goal then that is word of mouth advertising that bring loyalty the them!
I say kudos to the Lucas Oil used as assembly lube that the turbo lasted that 15 min without oil!!! I have also had great success with it!
Area Diesel is awesome , they did an indepth rebuild for diesel creek RUclipsr.
You and Matt are lucky to be able to work together! I'd have a blast working with you two! I'm with you at every turn!
black smoke = too much fuel, a rich mixture produces carbon in exhaust
I see you got your faithful sidekick Matt with you
Great vido Sam, love the way you and Matt can make that old iron operate again thanks for sharing-happy thanksgiiving and stay safe.
Watching all these channels who use area diesel for their repairs, I recently called them concerning my sons truck 6.6 Duramax the man that I spoke to was very knowledgeable very patient with my questions and seems like a business that I would love to support when the time comes for injectors or any other other services
Another collaboration of my 2 favourite RUclips channels. Happy days.
It looks like maybe the air cleaner is plugged up from the amount of smoke from the exhaust awesome video Thank you

Area diesel is the best great video thanks Sam and Matt
I would check and see if somebody didn't crank up the fuel pressure. that would make her smoke black!
I was thinking to much fuel as well. I know there is a thin line between power and to much fuel. Nice looking old machine and keep up the nice video's. Lee
G'day
It's great to watch and listen to two mates working together on another project.👍
I've watched your struggle with that turbo and YOU'RE STILL SMILING 😮😮😮
Top effort Sam you are a legend
Those 817's sound sooo good 👍
Nice old dozer. I think it’s against some law to turn an injection pump down??? Thanks for the Videos. I really appreciated Area Diesels Video on the Turbo Failure and Repair. Don’t know much about the 817 IH Diesels, I don’t recall them being used in the agriculture side.

Great videos Sam. That's how we do it here in Chelsea! I see a lot of iron in the yard, is there a hough 560 out there somewhere tucked away?
When soldering, clean the wire. Don't try to solder with all that corrosion. The joint will be high resistance if you don't clean it.
Well an injector over haul and pump out to the test bench …! ? $$$$ is the only way ! Injectors first not hard or to expensive …
It is all that black smoke coming out of exhaust normal for this particular dozen
When they were running good they did smoke like that, great dozers with the steering that could boil some earth, try to preserve the powershift
No wrench got harm in the making of this video this time 😂 poor crane she gave it a go and s@#c up just a full set of spanner wrench 🙈🎉🎉🎉
umm, this video is AMAZING, just saying. :)
I told Matt from diesel Creek I built for my equipment some tracks and slide plexiglass to close my dozer loader and shovel from the elements and critters including engine I put some poison to keep them out from eating my wires
I've never seen anyone fit terminals like that? did you just push cold wire into melted solder?
There is a lot more wrong with that than the turbo, the exhaust should be invisible, it even casts it own shadow it's so bad, and you're breathing that crap in all the time too, Cancer is on it's way.
8:05 is that you guys talking shit lol she cold starts really well.
I think it was lol
@@ScrappyIndustries lol just about every video
With all due respect. They shouldn’t have to bear the total cost of the second rebuild They had to make parts that should have been made the first time. Yes they made a mistake. They also owned up to it. You admited the oil was a possible cause too.
Great job on getting ur new Turbo attached to ur TD25C Dozer..

I wouldn't worry about the black smoke . Just don't let Greta drive it.
Great video! Love seeing the two speed steering levers in action. Jpaydirt solved the smoke problem on his 9er with a switch blade turbo. Might make a nice upgrade for the ih.
bon travail par 2 mecano sympathiques
I’m impressed you thought too get a expertise of Matt 😅😅😅
Nice to see tha dozer running right with the turbo, and Matt assisting you. Happy Thanksgiving Sam, and Family😊
Super great, they work on the older stuff like that.
Great video sam . I watched the rebuild on the turbo. That was cool to see. Mistakes happen we only human . They stood behind that what counts. I run a TD 25 when I was young. I believe it smoked a lot. Thanks for sharing.
i cie matt a lot at jour videos very nice i am geabonneers at his channel tho
you need the clean the corrosion off og the wire before you put the end on.
Whats the name of that place where u keep your dozers?
Happy Thanksgiving to You and Your Family. Great to see the IH pushing again and lasted more than 15 mins this time. Area Diesel also did a great job. Nice to see a company stand behind their products. Thank you for the video. Cheers.

My grandson just said "That's the biggest sand box I've ever seen!"😂😂 Now he wants me to build him one! I guess his dirt pile just isn't big enough.
Bring him to one of the shows next year if you aren’t too far away!! National pike steam gas and horse association
You should be crimping those battery connectors. If your cable ever gets hot they pop out.
