      Dunkin Donuts home brewed coffee for me on weekends.
      Not a bad price at Costco.
      Time for cup number 2.
      Doc ratted me out to my Bebita Wife to cut back on my coffee drinking.
      4 cups a day now.
      Gotta have a couple after my afternoon nap after all.

    Showed this to a buddy and I had to call him out and call him an idiot. His comment was “That looks pretty easy”. Apparently he doesn’t understand how much work and knowledge that is required to do this job without causing any damage or killing yourself! Impressively quick removal and install.

    That ripper will sure be the final piece to make C and C s TD a monster. It sure will be a great machine for its next owner. I've been following their progress with the work they have been doing to it. Between them, You, Matt, Wes, and Warren at Western Truck and Equipment, and of course Area Diesel, its a turbocharged maintenance weekend for us here. Keep up the great content. Bill

    The second channel I follow with a reference to Zippo today, love it! We live in Bradford, Pa, home of Zippo and my wife retired from there after 42 years.
    Those tape measures were/are neat, use one as well.

    OMG! Using a heavy duty forklift to loosen a nut! I'm thinking those were tightened over-spec. 😉 You boys are dealing with some big tools.

    I rebuilt a TD15 trans with the exact same problem. Couldn't find where the water got in. Great videos.

      I sealed everything I could think of. Raised vents up with pipe nipples and all sorts of other fingers crossed stuff. @@ScrappyIndustries

    The more I see of those dozers the more I am amazed of their build quality. I would have to say they were the best dozers for that era and would put them up against anything built today.🍻

    I have struggle with an 115mm nut,i was heated,banged,svared,and several trys with all those things at the same time,but the solutions was to drill and tap in 3 flates and screw in grease nipples,heat it up and press in grease and an home made spanner from 2" steel plate with an excavator in the end...it come loose

    Did you consider draining the contaminated fluid and replacing with fresh oil to see if anything improves?

      The damage to the disks has been done as evidenced by what was found in the strainer. The oil change would cost over $1000 so I will wait until I am rebuilding

    Hey Sam, I was kind of wondering if, after you heated the nuts, could you have soaked them down with some Kroil like Matt uses on Diesel Creek? Was just wondering. Not being critical, in the least!! Please don’t take it that way!!! Love watching your videos and watching you and Matt working together on projects!!!     I drained about the same quality of oil from our 125e (IH/dresser) About 20 gallons from the 13gallon? rear Gearbox. No clue were the water was getting in - could just be years of condensation... (no clue when it was changed last)

    Nice work and as a bonus you did not destroy anything. Having 1.5" studs means its hard to twist one off however using a forklift as a wrench lever is one way to overcome even bolts this size. Who made (what Brand were the wrenches) the combi wrenches they are stout!! Again Congrats on a great outcome. Ray Stormont

    Straining and heavy breathing seem to go hand in hand with anything bulldozer related.
    I find it interesting that the stud for attachments is related to draining the transmission I’d figure a dedicated drain plug.

    This is why I leave Sam's videos for a day or two. I don't want to waste time watching something that doesn't require expending a lot of energy doing or un-doing sticky hardware.
    Sam as usual, you've blown the opposition out of the water (or was that gear oil?). Bet you were glad someone wanted something off the td25 that you were glad to part with. Clinton would not be someone I'd expect to want a ripper, but then again you never know with him. He has plans, just don't ask what!

    My luck all that water would have froze and snapped the unit in half. Every dang winter something freezes and bust when I think everything has been winterized.

    Tough rusted nuts and bolts, spray first with Liquid Wrench. If no go, use heat too.

    Heat those bolts/nuts red hot and quench with cold water. Works more times than not. Work smarter, not harder.

    As an old timer, I suspect that someone put water in that transmission. Probably had a hose break, fixed it and because it blew out all the hydraulic fluid, filled it with water 'just long enough' to move the machine. I've seen worse.

      I agree it’s not great however it needs to be completely flushed and refilled and the water leak fixed. You’re looking at over $1,000 in oil to refill that case not counting what you flush it with. So if I tear down to rebuild it will be flushed and filled at that time
